  • THE PATHFINDERBUSHPOT IS A GREAT BUSHCRAFT COOKING KIT, AND ONE COOK POT CHOICE. WHEN HIKING CARRYING THE LEAST WEIGHT IS VERY IMPORTANT. SO THE USE OF A ONE POT TO SOLVE ALL YOUR COOKING NEEDS ALONG THE TRAIL MAKES SENSE.

    Simon, grits are a traditional Southern side dish, usually served with breakfast. They are made of ground corn, and are are similar to polenta. Unlike polenta, they are served warm in a semi-liquid state, rather than cold and sliced. They are usually seasoned with salt, pepper, butter, cheese, etc. they are excellent with shrimp.

    He's not kidding about the thick brush in Southern Alabama. I spent 3 yrs at Ft. Rucker, and I was lost for 2 1/2 of em'. Hey Blackie tell em' about the swamps and how 50,000 snakes that come out every evening like they're on a mission. Speaking of snakes, did you ever eat any? And I'd bet real money you've had Alligator.

    Great video Blackie! I really enjoy your videos, they are so full of information and experience born wisdom. Yet, you're unafraid to admit when something doesn't go perfect. (Alot of folks 'reshoot' I appreciate the REALness of your stuff. On top of that you TOTALLY made me hungry! And you always make me want to hit the woods. Thanx Blackie.

    I forgot the spiders... There is a big brown/black spotted spider down there that can make a web usually up in the trees, which can be 30 feet or so in diameter. Horror movie kind of spider's webs...I miss Ft. Rucker. I want to go back for a visit.

    Didn't know you were a deep woods gourmet chef, Blackie. Great video! And hey, the Pathfinder Bush Pot may be made in China, but it looks like a decent product to me. Maybe President Trump will turn things around and encourage American companies to manufacturing stuff again.

    I like the idea of cooking one meal while setting up for the next one! I'm looking forward to the next installment. I have some instant grits I was going to eat with bacon gravy, and now I want to try them your way! How far are you from Dothan?

  • @olumsezbey
    @olumsezbey 9 років тому

    You could always just put the eggs in the grits with the bacon and eat it that way. I've done that before.

    Hey Blackie,
    Great video, I'm feeling hungry already. Please can you tell me "What is grits?" Its something I would love to try but I come from the UK and I don't think we have it, not by that name anyway. If we don't have it, can you make it yourself?
    Thanks for sharing and for any help you can give me on grits.

      Grits are a traditional American dish made from ground dried hominy(a form of specially processed corn) which is simmered until it becomes soft and creamy.
      and here in North Carolina you can get it in any restaurant

    I was sooo disappointed to find that the Pathfinder BushPot is just more "Made in China" crap. I guess I just expected better from them. I was so disappointed that I almost just threw it in the garbage. I guess I'll keep it but I REALLY wish I would have ordered the Mors pot now. I almost ordered the PLSK1 at the same time. Needless to say that won't be happening now. I don't have a problem with Chinese products when I know that's what I'm getting and the item is priced accordingly.
