Back in the days, when I was a kid and loaded this game, I though something Epic will happen based on the title screen. And then game the blocks 😊 Do not get me wrong, tetris is a great game, but maybe a 10 years old expects something more cool.
This brings back so many memories of my Jr High days... I played a lot of Tetris on C-64. Definitely one of the BEST tunes every composed for Commodore 64!
I used to leave the title screen on just to listen to this game's iconic OST written by musician Wally Beben. I'd challenge myself to play at least as long as the entire piece lasted. In what may explain the title screen art Beben described this piece as an epic battle between two wizards, and imo he achieved that. This was the first instrumental where I understood music could tell a story without a single word.
Such a bizarre loading screen! Really cool music though. I got this in a pack called "Supreme Challenge" which had Elite, Tetris, The Sentinel, Ace 2 and Starglider (such an amazing pack) and needless to say, Elite was definitely the most played out of the bunch, although I would sometimes load this up just to chill to the music for half an hour ;)
@@staggabob I remember buying it in the computer store called "Virtual Reality" within the Virgin Megastore in Cardiff in 1991(?) when I was about 12ish for cheap because the box was a bit damaged. Elite just blew my tiny mind! A few years later I would find myself buying Daggerfall in that same store just by the cover art after picking up the box on the shelf. Massive risk as it was around £40+ back then (which is around £80 now!!) But I had saved to buy a few games, and ended up just spending it all on this one. Best decision I ever made! It introduced me to Bethesda games and eventually to modding the hell out of them :) Cut to thousands of hours over decades of RPGs having the time of my life :) Anyway, yeah great pack, sorry for the ramble!
@@plume... No need to apologise for being passionate about videogames 😂 That's something I totally get. I never played Daggerfall though, my 1st Elder Scrolls game was Oblivion. I also never really got into C64 Elite- I found docking too frustrating and never progressed enough to get the docking computer!
Well that's the coolest Tetris title screen that I never thought I'd see lol

Simple yet epic. The haunting soundtrack is half of the game. I remember loading this game back in the days purely for the song.
Same! ❤
Is this H.R. Giger presents tetris?
Same here!!!
Thank you for covering this, my first game on the Commodore 64!
This takes me back in some beautiful carefree past times... Thanks for sharing. ❤
What a spooky version of Tetris.

TOOL wants their album cover back. But seriously I can just sit with this video playing just to listen to the music.
now i wanna see how Maynard plays Tetris all day long
Omg i play this version a LOT when i'm young.. Year 1988 or some like that. Great game, great music, i LIKE!
So... Creepy and dark
The music in this had absolutely no business going this hard

That was an incredible pack.
Good memory, I'd forgotten I owned that pack!

The music in the game is pleasant enough 👍
I love this song
I like the style in this version
este es el juego mas triste y depresivo de todos los tiempos. muy buena cancion
This is what Armageddon sounds like.
Ah, the original Tetris! Played by a master, what a feast for the eyes.
Scary
EU Tetris I got a bad feeling
This game appears to be rather simple; I wonder if it features much replay value.
I remember this from my C64.
The soundtrack would stay for hours after I'v stopped playing.
This was probably "magic" in 1989 (or whenever it came out) BUT, the Commodore 64 can do better than this!
ihad this with Samurai Warrior on some tape and i played both alot!
Pillar man

Is this the original Tetris?
It's possible...
The original version was created for a Soviet computer called Electronika 60 in 1984.
