Yall have made me appreciate this song so much more than when I first heard it on the album. Something about your somewhat stripped back version, with just guitar and vocals, barely any harmonies, it has given the lyrics and the song as a whole so much more room to breathe. @@robertvanruyssevelt7159 what amazes me about Josh and Allison is that stripped-down arrangements like this are actually, in my estimation, the hardest things to record well. The magic of fuller production is that any mistakes or poor tone can get blended in easily to the background noise of a larger ensemble of instrumentation. Josh and Allison typically keep things very sparse and intimate, which means an otherwise slight inadequacy would become glaring. It speaks to their musicianship and the quality of their ears that they can make this type of arrangement sound so fantastic.
You two go together musically like maple syrup on a buttery stack of pancakes!
It's not often covers are better than original songs... but this 100% is! I can't help but keep coming back to listen, time and again. Incredible.

Thank goodness you have DISCOVERED how to feed the two guitars - (the acoustic one with a mic, the other via a line-input direct from the electric guitar), to feed the sounds ACROSS both L&R channels (hopefully without the signal from the acoustic guitar mic, going to earth/ground) as NOW you have the resemblance of true stereo WITH DEPTH.
