You do not have to pull the mirror off, there is no reason to risk messing up your mirror. Just pull the front cover off, then you can access the screws and take the lights out.
Yeah you're right I followed your advice and did this without touching the mirrors at all. I basically just grabbed the front cover and hulk-ripped it off, with a little bit of gentle wiggling along the way. One thing, if I could go back and do it again - I'd start prying the front cover off from the "away from 4Runner side", not the "close to body of 4Runner side." Because I managed to break a single tiny plastic bracket in the same place on both of them left side and right side. I'm pretty sure that if I had worked from the outside of the mirror towards the body of the truck, I could have prevented this tiny broken piece of plastic. However, there doesn't seem to be any issue with the reinstallation; the covers seem rock solid now that they're back on. I doubt I'll ever notice, it's a tiny break with multiple redundant clips to keep it in place and of course it's on the inside of the cover where no one could possibly see it. Was done in 30 minutes! And I'd rather break a tiny meaningless plastic clip that can't be seen, rather than risk breaking the glass of my mirrors for no reason. I also don't think removing the mirrors would even have helped prevent this at all.
Thanks fo the install video. I did mine a few weeks back and YES multiple times brighter and better than OEM. I do wish the fit was better as mine would not fit flush.
I just installed mine as well. Nice product but your print for the plastic mold needs some refinement. Not enough to prevent me from installing but after some filing on the 2 screw studs removing perhaps 1/8 of and inch I manged to get it to sit flush and added a bit of silicone sealer on the edge closest to the door for good measure on the inside. I'm pleased with the end result but again the product needs some improvement. Thanks again.
Why does it look like the puddle light is not flush with the outer shell of the mirror? I noticed in the last shot videoed underneath the mirror there was a portion of the MESO housing not flush with the outer shell like the factory plastic molding for the OEM light. Is this something that needs to be addressed? Just bought mine and will be installing them soon.

I can't get anybody to respond from 4Runner Lifestyle. I bought a bracket for my Maxtrax to mount to my truck, 3 weeks ago. They took my money (Over $400) but wont tell me when it will ship. I have emailed them several times and I have not received any emails back, except the ads they flood my inbox with. They don't have a phone number, and when you do contact them by email, you get a reply saying not to keep emailing them and they will get back to you when they can. It shouldn't be this hard to do business with a company unless it's by design. Do yourself a favor and shop somewhere else.

Great tip, had to do the same and they still weren't a perfect fit. 3/5 stars, not the first product from them I've had fitment issues with.
