Liam really sells Caleb falling back into his childhood as he read that story to Jester. This story really meant something to him. Bringing him back to a simpler time.

Right now he's "dancing" (finding some happiness and connection) with the rest of the party, after having thought he could never be truly happy again (weak and sickly), but if he really plans to pursue time-travel and eventually change time, who knows what that would mean about his relationships with his friends. Maybe by remembering his mother and having to leave, it was hinting at the possibility of having to one day leave the party in order to try and change what he did in the past. A sense of his time with the M9 being a fleeting, happy dream, but even if he leaves, he'd be forever changed by his time with them.

He really wrote this whole love letter for his friends, but even now doesn't take the time to show himself love by making his room equally beautiful. He's still struggling with that good ol fashioned self worth, and every time I'm reminded it hurts me.

I think the story Liam wrote is Jesters Backstory as a fairytail just like his narrative telephone fairy tail was Caleb's backstory. a lonely child who is loved by their mother but the mother had to work so had to leave him alone for long periods of time. a magical creature comes and plays with the child offers to take them away. the child loves their mother so says they can't leave the creature is impressed and grants the child a gift of new powers to go live with her mother again.
That's an interesting take that I didn't hit on because I was still so engrossed in that "poem". Not a bad call, though, could be something there, for sure.
I think Laura noticed the parallels to Jester's backstory right away and that's why she compared the cat prince to the traveler. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Liam actually did specifically tailored the story to appeal to Jester. Even if it was just subconscious, it was a great RP moment.

Next we need Jester decorating Caleb's sparce room, he did so much decorating for everyone else. I think it would be ADORABLE if like...she used her paints to like draw everyone in the room and special events that he means to them. ESPECIALLY the time Jester and Caleb danced.
Regardless of what way she decided to decorate his room, I think Jester totally has the power to get him to memorize it and recreate it every time he makes the tower. That nice bit of reciprocating his effort to make them happy would be sweet.

We all want to go to the place where our gardians took us to make us feel safe and loved and use it to make our loved ones feel safe. And I think Caleb went there and took Jester with him and for a moment he was his younger self and his best self and emulating someone he loved so much and remembering her love and sharing it and by sharing it growing it with someone he loves now. In that moment he loved himself. Im watching this as a spoiler for my journey enjoying the story of the mighty nein but I hope he sees his love from his mother and his father coming out in him remembering the things they shared and realizes that they would want him to love himself. I hope he finds the parts of them and his friends within himself that are inseparable from himself and see that those parts are meant to be loved and meant to love him back.
Caleb reading the story to Jester is such a soft experience and I love it. Caleb being happy and pure, a reminder of his childhood before he was broken.

not only does that cat prince clearly mean a lot to caleb, its so much like jester's backstory: a young child growing up alone, whos mother love them but doesnt always have time, and the child is unable to see the world. until they meet a fantastical being to that shows them mystical and fanciful wonders...
It’s funny. The more I watch, the more I love Caleb. I alternate between these highlight videos and watching the actual show. Country Fjord is definitely one of my favorites, but Liam’s RP is truly something that should be aspired to. He’s an amazing character and an amazing player and I live in fear that he may never see what we all see in him. His acting is so amazing that this video has honestly made me like the idea of Widowjest, something I NEVER thought I’d see.
Caleb's story..... why, why did it bring tears to my eyes. Im almost a 30 year old man yet a child's tale written by a fiction character hit me in the feels like a mack truck! Bravo Liam this gives me so much inspiration to not only be a better DnD player but to just be a more creative person overall!

I have a head canon that in the future, after the campaign has ended, Jester and Caleb collaborated and published a newly illustrated edition of The Cat Prince in Common. And the Cat Prince happens to look like Frumpkin and has bright green eyes like Artagan.
Liam's love for his friends is infinite and unwavering. I am in awe of how he uses his creative platform to express how he feels for the people around him. Truly inspiring.
Omg I legit teared up as Caleb finished reading to Jester. Its like this moment of utter heartbreak, but also joy and love. Bc Caleb finally gets to share something positive that he loved from his childhood with Jester, who he obviously loves deeply, and she finds joy and meaning in it, and there’s such longing in him, but he restrains himself, because despite how far he’s come, he is still wounded and scarred and doesn’t want to be a burden to her. And Liam says Everything with his face and eyes. He may just be one of the best actors I have ever seen when it comes to conveying intense emotion in a subtle way.
i'm not a Widowjest shipper (Fjorester fan here). i'm not even Caleb's biggest fan (i don't dislike him, i don't go for the reclusive/socially awkward type, just doesn't do it for me). but Liam deserves full props for that story, and his RP is always on point, that was wonderful, it really was. what a guy!

I love the cast enthrallment in Caleb/Liam while he reads the book. Just a big happy family.
The realm of the cat Prince is D&D for all of us. A world where we can laugh and play, a world where none of our real-life struggles get in the way.
And eventually we return to the real world for the ones we love.

Omg I legit teared up as Caleb finished reading to Jester. Its like this moment of utter heartbreak, but also joy and love. Bc Caleb finally gets to share something positive that he loved from his childhood with Jester, who he obviously loves deeply, and she finds joy and meaning in it, and there’s such longing in him, but he restrains himself, because despite how far he’s come, he is still wounded and scarred and doesn’t want to be a burden to her. And Liam says Everything with his face and eyes. He may just be one of the best actors I have ever seen when it comes to conveying intense emotion in a subtle way.
i'm not a Widowjest shipper (Fjorester fan here). i'm not even Caleb's biggest fan (i don't dislike him, i don't go for the reclusive/socially awkward type, just doesn't do it for me). but Liam deserves full props for that story, and his RP is always on point, that was wonderful, it really was. what a guy!

What a beautiful interaction between Beau and Yasha albeit delayed .. but wow Calebs tale was worthy of the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Anderson both .. no, scratch that, it is they that should be mentioned alongside Calebs wonderful story , Him being the Premier storyteller .. I have tears of wonder in my eyes

The Cat Prince is probably one of the most in depth looks we've had of Caleb's character and most likely why he likes Jester as much as he does.
I came for the heartfelt love letter, but stayed for the beautiful children's book. Ashley and Liam really went all out on this one.
