    I'm 41 and it beautiful to see a boy grow into a man and talk about the growth. I watched his journey from the beginning to now.🙏🏼🙏🏼 you have to turn dwn the bullshit and turn up the real shit at some point in your life. Evolve or die is the law of nature.

    This was powerful, and a conversation many could learn from. Sometimes this could be labeled boring, because you are not willing to look that deep into your own truth. But looking into your own pain, sets you free.

    I could see him leading a black man's conference. he's wealthy but he can identify with the struggle that the young black man is going through. using your success as a platform. I love Jay for that

    It’s so sad that some people are upset that Jay is no longer immature, change in everyone at some point. You don’t need to be rich to change life happens. I appreciated the interview and thumbs up to the interviewer. ❤️✌🏽👆🏽People.
    We all have different opinions so we should respect each other’s option.

      Queen Cee sorry no disrespect. I was a big fan of jayz during his rocafella days. But since Rocafella broke apart and jayz went completely solo, i looked at him differently. Sorry i dont mean to argue with you, i respect your opinion. I like jayz growth and maturity, but sometimes i feel like it isnt genuine. This interview was great. But jayz isnt someone i would trust like i would trust 2pac. 2pac had a whole lot of heart and love for his people.

    A lot of you focus on all the wrong shit of an interview 🤦🏾‍♂️. As a 30 year old male I love to hear mature interviews from rap artist that came from the bottom. Rather than hearing them foolish interviews of young rappers glorifying all the violence they've done or drugs they take 🤷🏾‍♂️. Great interview from Jay the 🐐

    • @EssenceBennett
      @EssenceBennett 7 років тому +1

      khabeer Palmer name one of the young rappers that glorifyed violence or drugs in their interviews?? y’all are such hypocrites all that shit old rapper used to talk about and DID now all of a sudden it’s an issue. and you probably listen to future. probably the biggest drug addict popping right now lmao

      khabeer Palmer Maybe I'll be more willing to hear, if you can tell me Jay Z has done to make change? O he gave some money to Red Cross, or should I say the pockets of the CEOs of Red Cross.

    • @MrKhabeer45
      @MrKhabeer45 7 років тому

      Essence Bennett umm you can go look at all the Vlad interviews for proof of that if you're oblivious to that fact.

    • @MrKhabeer45
      @MrKhabeer45 7 років тому

      Essence Bennett I'm not talking about the music itself. That's entertainment. Just like movies is entertainment. But when it comes to interviews that's a chance to get to know an artist outside of the entertainment side of it. That's an opportunity for the fans to obtain more substance of the artist as a person. That's the point I'm trying to make. Nothing hypocritical about it.

    • @MrKhabeer45
      @MrKhabeer45 7 років тому

      Melanie Williams Name just one thing huh? How about owning Roc Nation and Tidal. Teaching these artists that it's not just about taking any deal to make money but getting a deal where you can own your masters so that your work can appreciate over the course of your life and not just for the moment. Why you think so many people is on the Roc Nation roster? How about the opportunities he gave to his friends like Emory and Ty Ty. Now they running their own businesses and giving opportunities to others. Is that not change?

    I really enjoyed this interview. You really have to listen not to respond, but to UNDERSTAND to open your mind to other's views. He has made it to a place a lot of people, black or white, aspire to! He's one who is willing to tell you the thought process and habits it took to get there.

I know guys his age that can't and won't ever own that kind of responsibility. There are tons more like him in this industry. Maybe they've owned their responsibility but HE did. And I appreciate it.

    Legs crossed is a problem now? In my eyes that's a sign of ownership & it shows he's comfortable with who he is as a person. The problem now & days is people are so judgmental & don't have a clue who you really are. I've looked at gestures of how folks sit or talk & I've been judgemental as well but once you understand certain points in life & being comfortable with yourself as a person & not worrying about what others think you'll then understand the reason people do what they do.

    Again, Dean Baquet has the affect of a therapist which is wonderful. This is a great interview and rare with regard to an in depth analysis and reflection of his life. The economic issues like the drug war and the effects on the community which includes the sale of drugs, being african american, therapy, politics, socioecoomic standing and the short and long term effects on African American men, rap's influence and the perception of the lyrics from various generations based on their upbringing and experiences, (Song Cry)past relationships and their influence on his career as well as his marriage, showing emotions in interpersonal relationships and in his marriage. There is so much that is covered in this interview

    I pray that our next generation of black people really; would take time to educate themselves. Because many that are commenting here is evident they are wired to be part of the problem not the solution. I’m proud of jay z for his amazing growth. Why are we a culture of people that can only embrace ignorance? Why can’t we learn to embrace what is positive? Lord please help this generation. When we look back into our history many of the the black people that stood on the front and advocated for equality were educated. Where would we be without them today?

    Life is circular. When he was struggling in the hood all he had was people, relationships. When he became rich he realized that the most important things where not the things he acquired but the people, relationships. So many people chase money only to realize that it's not the most important thing once they have it, but it sure makes life easier dealing with the everyday struggle of bills & the worry of $. Life is circular. Everything comes full circle.

    I see it's a lot of haters on here talking nonsense. If you hate him so much why watch a video on him for 30 minutes? SMH. I don't follow people I dislike.

    Jay Z is one of the best examples of just how valid the theory of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs actually is and why so many AA people have a harder time gaining the economic freedom that allows them to self actualize the way Jay has. So many lessons in this talk! THANKS for sharing Shawn!

    I am truly waiting for the day when most people focus and comment on what is right instead of what is wrong...or what can be picked apart. However... I won't hold my breath while waiting... because I will surely pass away. This was a great interview and would be to many... if the focus is to gain substance...or value while watching. #rockyroadproductionsllc

    Awesome interview. Although very irritated with the people talking in the background. I even heard a microwave going off, very distracting.

    Most people walk away instead of facing the storm. The best place to be is within. Facing it. "Facing the person whom you have caused pain and having to deal with yourself" -Jay-Z. I hadn't seen any of his interviews since he released The Black Album. To me, you will forever be the greatest. Not because of talent but because of a mix of talent, content, and just sheer honesty. Fall 6 days a week, and get up on the 7th to try again.

    Jay Z stays relevant because he's the man growing up with his market audience. If he was mumble rapping and auto tuning, he would just not be authentic and this is why his fans are his fans (at least the ones I think he really cares about). It's a relationship where he's always rapped about what was real to him and he had his way of telling the stories as well as the production behind him that fans could either understand, relate to, or fantasized about. On the west coast he was more popular than Nas in the late 90s but I love how he gave respect to him here and recognized that Nas actually had more in depth intellectual bars (because that's truth) and it shows he's very mature. Jayz - Still my hero to some degree, still can't top the dragon Bruce Lee, but you a living legend, so like you say lucky me
