Agreed! The only American bands w/o any bad outside influences I can think right of my head are Megadeth, Testament, Kamelot, and Symphony X. There are probably a few more though not too many.
Indeed metal is music, not appearance. However, what our little fellah alanredstar doesn't see is that VK tries to conciliate both music and visual. Making music not only to listen, but to see as well.

Helloween are indeed one of the best power metal bands but keep in mind that Japanese bands have some of the best Speed Melodic metal in the world, exp: X Japan, Loudness, Anthem, Saber Tiger ect.. Metal in America has a mixture of hardcore punk, hip-hp(rap metal), and grunge which is bad for Metalheads, this guys is one of the band so called "real metal"

@Paganbreeze It's better than metal i nthe US, but as good as Concerto Moon is, it's nowhere NEAR the level of true Neo Classical Power Metal like Nightwish. Hell, even recent Helloween makes alot of the Japanese artists look bad. You know so little about metal. I live in Japan and have seen alot of good bands here, but German or Scandanavian power metal is the best metal still around (and before you say it, Power metal was created because Iron maiden and Judas Priest)
