Virgin angry Hidemushi (too coward to use a real name) vs. Literal Chad Kaoru Ogura who comes to work unwashed so everyone gets to taste his 6-time post-coital musk
@@markkoetsier6475 Yeah I was suspecting the same considering Hidemushi complains that they "ran off with some man" and looking up for the name Kaoru mostly would be used for females (even though it's gender-neutral) But either way, *6 times in one night, damn*
I feel like Hidemushi was intentionally exaggerating or lying about that part. Considering how equally mean-spirited his comments were to his male friends for also being "sex pests" or "nuisances" to him while working on this game. Also I bet the atmosphere smelled like ass-sweat in general, and he decides to blame it on Kaoru just'cause. Like for all we know, Kaoru probably took a 2 hour shower and Hide would still blame her anyways.
Yep. Especially SMT 1 & 2, and P1 (not 2). Maybe even SMT IF. It'd be hilarious to see their frustrations really. In later games it seems more figured out. Leave more replies with other Atlus games that it would be great to see folks.
For what it's worth, the game this secret message comes (Erika to Satoru no Yume Bouken) from was recently fan translated into English, including the message itself. So give it a try and see it for yourself if you feel inclined.
I'm pretty sure Pop-Team Epic just referenced this incident in their latest episode (Season 2, Episode 6), it was pretty funny and took me off gaurd. Never knew this video would come in handy like that.
It's worth while making videos like this, even if they aren't solved because you can always make a definitive video later with missing info filled in. Based off the message, it seems more like a joke.
Interesting to hear someone digging into who these rants were about (even if most of it just kinda went over my head) Also, his kinda reminds me of "the Tetris rant" found in The New Tetris for the N64. Some programmer wrote entire paragraphs about his frustrations (and his good times) working on the game and with company. He also had a massive list of stuff he hated, and multiple big pieces of ASCII art One of my favorite tidbits was that he didn't expect it to be found for a long time... Data-miners discovered it like two or three days after it released
shit, i actually remember this rant, well kinda, i never actually got the full rant, but i remember being fascinated by secret messages left in-between lines of code, sometimes accessable via easter egg, and the pissed off rant was a common one back then. i don't know why though i don't remember any after the 5th generation of consoles, maybe they only slipped past because teams were so small and games got pumped out so quickly that a 7-12 man team making 11 games in 2 years honestly checks out, so there was more of an opportunity to slip it in, or perhaps the new tetris controversy just soured the whole practice. granted i also might just not know that many purely by happenstance, or because we can't decompile most modern games, so maybe each fifa game has a violent rant that they only leave for hackers to one day find.

@4:44 - Are you sure the text didn't say that he swore not to go to soaplands until the project was over? That's a far different context than saying not using soap.
I rewatched that section because I didn't think about it, but you may be right. Especially since some of the other messages were sexual in content, talking about sleeping with someone 6 times in a night, someone giving him porn, another person having "abnormal fetishes," this seems like the likely context. I think soaplands are also sometimes shortened to soaps, so saying he didn't use soaps could have gotten misunderstood as using actual soap. Good job spotting that one.

I really don't understand the negative assumptions about the guy who wrote this, to me it sounds exactly like an open letter a Western senior programmer or whoever on a team would write after the release of a game and they've left the company or something.... yeah a few of them seem petty but he just sounds like a professional who saw himself as always acting professionally, and naturally had gripes with peers or employees who were less than professional in his eyes... he says "I love you" to his wife at the end, and thanks lots of other people sincerely.... there's no stupid jealousy or anything else going on; honestly this is all very boring, standard stuff he's complaining about. The funniest one to me is where he is seemingly thanking someone but then says "I know all about your abnormal fetishes" like a threat or something lol... it was probably meant in a friendly way that doesn't translate culturally.

Yeah, the political implications are immense. It's strange considering he's the one who directed SMTII when the games themes would run counter those beliefs he might hold if we're to take that flag at face value.
