I crossed that bridge a few times in one day. Seeing how many times we could cross. The final time crossing back into the US the border patrol/customs agent looked at our history and seemed a bit suspicious but let us through.
@@JasMine-so2xk My teachers/professors say that all you needed was a drivers license before 9/11, but nowadays you need a passport to pass through the border.
Is it really as easy as just stopping at one booth to speak to an officer? What documents did you need to provide? I seem to be really caught up on the declaration card. A group of friends and I are visiting Montreal this summer and I'm trying to figure out everything we need to know about the border and country itself. If anybody could help I'd be very thankful!
@@s.n2269 I agree: It should have been passport required all the time for both land borders with Canada and Mexico, not a birth certificate or a driver license (unless, of course, you have one of those Enhanced Drivers Licenses (EDL's) issued by a few US states and Canadian provinces, Florida (where I am from) does not issue EDL's). Besides, a US passport can be replaced at the US Embassy or Consulate as opposed to a birth certificate or driver license if lost or stolen.

I've actually been to Canada before on a trip to Banff and Jasper National Parks. No offense, but I experienced the exact reverse. I don't think I recall the border patrol agent at the Canadian airport saying a word to us, but going back home to the US, I had a conversation about things to do during my Chicago layover with the American border patrol agent. (I heard him mention the pizza, but the layover was only about an hour long. Can anyone please give me an opinion on Chicago style pizza? I'm curious to know what it's like.) Both countries now have automated kiosks for passport control and declaration forms, so maybe this could be why.
I was a truck driver back in the early 90's bringing a load of goods back into the United States. There are certain procedures regarding paperwork no one bothered to inform me about. Customs didn't like it apparently and at least to my point of view, made a big deal out of it.
This video clearly shows the custom agent didn't like the visitor as they forced him to park for a search of his vehicle, US custom officers are way more friendlier than the Canadian counterparts.

@MT PUNX, Are you serious? Do you really not know whether you can drive a car into Canada? If not, do you think people leave their cars at the border and walk across?
2 times to report to 2 different border guards? Wow.....anyhow, great video of such a very long bridge! I am surprised you were able to still film during the report to the guards.
Have you ever used a Passport? When you enter foreign countries some ink stamp your passport, Canada does not unless you go inside the border office and ask for it. It is a souvenir in your Passport to look back and remember the countries you have visited.

You only need your Passport as you would going from any country into another

Do you need anything else besides a passport? Like car information?

Snow sprinkling in the Soo in October is very common, and an occasional snowstorm.

Not as congested as I figured it would be. Very nice drive
