Good review. My two primary carry guns are the Kimber TLE II in .45 acp. Both have well over 2000 rounds, and I have never had any issues from day one. The only changes made to my Kimbers were to switch the full-length guide rod for a GI guide rod from WC. I swapped all the factory springs for Wolf Springs. I also swapped the stock metal MSH out with an arched Ed Brown MSH as I prefer the arched main spring housings on my 1911's. And I use Wilson Combat magazines also. None of these changes were due to any reliability issues, just personal preference. These changes were not made to the Kimbers until I had 500 rounds through them initially. I trust my life and my family's life to these two Kimbers and train regularly with them.
I've had my Stainless II since 2008 and have never had a problem with it. I did recently replace my magazines with 4 WC 47D mags and it still shoots flawlessly. Also recently changed the grips (retro GI wood w/US on them) and had the front of grip checkered
That is a good looking 1911. Had a similar issue with one of my Para Ordnance 1911's. Came with two mags. One worked flawlessly and the other not so much. Mec-Gar mags and no more problems. Yippee! Cool video Matt!
Have mine for about two years it’s been a great gun. Accurate and absolutely zero malfunctions. Yes all stainless no plastic and so happy no ambi safety.
Good stuff.....I've had two Kimber's, a custom shop compact that had been shot to DEATH that the front sight wouldn't stay in without red loctite, and a full size custom 2 I think. The compact was reliable but not great too shoot with hot loads, and the full size was decent. I like them- always have and with a little work for the price they are fine IMO. That was about 8-10 years ago last I owned one, but I'm on a 1911/2011 journey and I think it's where I'll stay. I have gone through glock/Sig226 and Cz pistols and like them all but to know surprise, nothing is as effortless as the 1911/2011 to shoot with. I plan on picking up a Kimber custom lightweight very soon.
Hey Matt. I had no idea you had this channel, glad you let me know brother. This seems like a nice gun. I used to own Glocks and S&W 38 s. Now, I'm trying to choose something for home defense that my wife can also handle and to carry when we go out. BTW, just love the openness of where you live. Gorgeous. My wife, unfortunately, is a city girl. Out here in Miami, where I live I could never shoot a gun in my yard, cops would show up in force 😅 All the shooting is at a gun range. Thank you again, and be well, my friend.
The weird thing about that mag issue is that Kimber _also_ makes good mags. Complaining about only getting one garbage mag is like complaining about portion size when you hate the food. Why would you want more of something that sucks? Instead of a second mag, they should have upgraded the mag they include to one of their "KimPro Tac-Mag" magazines. Of course, then they should give you a second mag.
I bought this model seven years ago. It came in a very nice plastic case (got it out to check) and with two Kimber stainless mags. I never before checked under the foam. but because you got a decal I looked. Sure enough, there is a decal. I will tell you, even though it hasn't been fired much, the problems I had were corrected by NOT using the very good-looking Kimber mags. Mine lives in a Pelican case along with a purchased new and un-fired Colt Commander. Nothing bad to say about the Stainless II, I just don't have time to shoot it.
Generally, I won’t make an official opinion on a 1911 until after 1,000 rounds has been through it. Call it a break in period or grace period. If the pistol starts falling apart or continues to have malfunctions after 1,000 rounds, I deem the pistol to be junk. I’m only talking about 1911s.
A lot of people who bash kimber usually say the Oregon made guns were better. Also a lot of the internet hate on kimber comes from people who haven't shot one 😂
Still having bobbles so early isn't great. Needs to really have more trigger time to get an idea of the reliability, and if there is a hickup. What was the cause, magazine, ammo, break in etc. A few mags isn't near enough. Granted, seems like the issue is the mag. But a update with more trigger time would be fantastic with a gun that has had widespread issues in the past.
I’ve never seen a kimber to ever be any good shooters will strip every part and simply use the slide and frame but then that’s kinda most 1911 style unless you got a gun work over by someone who really knows the 1911 or from Les Baer,Wilson, Nighthawk,ACW,Dan Wesson
I personally carry a Glock but my kimber stainless 2 I’ve ran about 1500 rounds through and still have had no issues. I think a big issue with kimbers is limp wrist.
I own a ruger 1911 and wanted to mention that the plunger tube is part of the frame and cannot be removed. I was wondering how you feel about that? Since you usually upgrade that part. Thanks man.
I had a SR1911 when the first came out years ago and it was a very reliable 1911. I traded it in on my Ed Brown Special Forces II. Theirs is part of the frame because the frame on that gun is investment cast. Also I just upgrade the springs not the tube itself.
@@wyominggunproject Oh sweet that sounds awesome. Ed Brown is no joke. I do see that there are options for the entire plunger tube or just the springs. Awesome.

Yep, same exact problem my magazine had, I filed it down and now it works flawlessly

Nice Kimber! I didn't know they were including the range bags, that's cool! 👍👍
I did a price search, and it seems to be all over the place price wise. Anywhere from $899 to over 15 hundred. You did well, and it is a beauty.
Picked up a custom ii two tone over new production Colt gcnm blued. Was better put together.
Seems to be a very decently built gun. I like how they use a metal MSH and nicely blended rear of slide
That is a beautiful gun. I love stainless steel.

Or 3 Wilson mags.

I’ve heard soooo many bad stories about the Kimberly built in Yonkers NY. For that reason alone I wouldn’t buy one.
@@christophermead9800 the newer ones are from Troy Alabama now I believe.
The rest of the hate comes from people who have.
The 1911's were never made in Clackamas. Except for the first few prototypes made built by John Yanek, all of them were built in Yonkers, NY.
The original company contracted was called Jericho Mfg. Kimber bankrupted them, then acquired their assets.
I am glad Kimber has appeared to fix their problems. Please keep us updated on long term progress of this pistol. Thanks.
If Kimbers reliability was as good as their looks, there'd be none better.I hope they have stepped things up.
I would recommend the Series 70 models from Kimber. All the "II" models are Series 80 and have inferior triggers.
Great gun brother

I wish this had the barrel bushing like a standard 1911 instead of the guide rod.
Yep. Me too. That can be changed but at an extra cost to you of course.
TRP CAME WITH 3 Mecgars mags I believe
Kimbers got a whole lotta redeeming to do to get me back on board. Lol
I totally get that 🤠
Don’t think any kimber comes with metal main spring housing I have changed all of mine from plastic to metal

Springfield gave me 6 mags with my hellcat
NO, Kimber gave me 2 extra mags with my purchase
Good for you. What does that mean to me? They only gave me one like I said in the video.
I have tle2 10mm
