- in this tutorial I will look at How To Make Cloth In Unreal Engine 5.
Hello everyone and welcome to my channel . My name is Alireza and I`m a cg artist and a Virtual Reality developer .
I founded UNREAL ART with the mission to equip you with the knowledge, skills and insights you need to design and create 3D virtual worlds in unreal engine 5 .
You can use the knowledge in different fields including Game design , VFX , Movies and Animations , Architectural visualization and VR/AR games and applications.
There will be Unreal Engine 5 tutorials to cover the technical side . We will also talk about the business side of the relevant industries, technology trends , design and art to completely cover all of the elements contributing to the creation of a 3D virtual world .
If you think this type of content can help you move forward in your career , don`t forget to subscribe and leave a thumbs up, that would mean a lot for the future of this channel . 🙏🥂
This was by far the easiest to follow and straight forward tutorial on this that I have seen yet. Great job! Thanks!
thank you very much . glad you liked the video !
With your easy method we learn complicated things very easy effortlessly. Thank you Alireza
you are very welcome, thanks for the comment mate 🥂
Thanks for this amazing content and effort Alireza !! Keep it up 🙏
you are very welcome 🥂🥂🙏🙏
دقیقا همان چیزی که دنبالش بودم ممنونم🙏
no problem , glad you liked it
great tutorial thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Question. When I am finished creating the cloth and I deactivate the cloth paint, the flag hits what seems to be a ground and half of it stays flat on the ground even if i move it upwards in the level after activating simulate. the best i can explain it is there is an invisible floor that is not allowing the cloth to fall.
same, how we can fix it?
It seems like a bug. I have to look into it and see if it happens for me as well. maybe I make another tutorial about cloth simulation and cover this as well
YES! please i have been trying to find a video as good as this one that goes into cloth / cape physics. Every other video is very basic and results in glitchy effects that are not good enough to show in projects. thanks for the reply! @@UnrealART
@@TRUE-MANDALORE In your outliner click, your cloth and in its details search "Cloth Max Distance Scale" and change to something like 10
Lol didn't know that it was that easy to make cloth simulation in UE, the reason I never tried to go into this area. Thanks to you, I can put my hands on cloth simulation in UE.
yes it look complicated at first but when you dive into it you realize it`s not 😉
you are very welcome 👋🥂
hey unreal!!! how are you thanks alot for your work my friend!!! 😀😀
hey Jax ! I hope you are doing well. glad you like the videos . I have been inactive for a couple of months but I will start making videos again soon .
@@UnrealART brilliant mate yh i did notice there wasnt a vid, hope everything is ok, sometimes life gets in the way doesnt it lol. hope your well mate. 😀😀
yeah I am good thanks for asking. Nothing bad happened I was just working on a VR project for a client. It got complicated and took a lot of time . I will be back soon 🥂
@@UnrealART ah cool glad to hear it. hope the job goes/went well. 😎
Thank you for this video. I had a problem to record the shape. How to keep the shape?
No problem, maybe you need to look into the collisions of your object
niceeee
thanks 🙏🙏🥂🥂
Cool !

Great video, thanks for sharing! Do you know how to attach 2 planes of cloth mesh to create a 'sleeve' - that actors can collide with/travel through? Think of it as a GIANT 'Koinobori' - thanks Ali!
you are very welcome, well it doesn`t look like a hard thing to do , maybe you can model it in a way that when you simulate the cloth effect in unreal it looks like they are two planes connected to each other , 🤔 it needs some trial and error but it shouldn`t be that complicated.
@1:50 - does the effect of leaving the paint value lower increase the resistance of the material to fall smoothly against an object of flap in the wind less? For instance, the difference between the ways these two fabrics move in comparison; silk and burlap
thanks for your channel!
the simulation is not that advanced yet so I don`t think it`s possible to get those kind of distinction between different types of fabrics . If you are looking for something like that it`s better to use other software in my opinion .
you are welcome . 🙏🥂
Hey, thanks, great video, but I have a problem, I make a project that requires a very small amount of wind, and at this point you will find that the flag itself will be interspersed, how can I solve this problem?
Hey, you can send me a screen record of your project so I can look into it. 4lirezaemami@gmail.com
thanks, but i have a question,am working on a mobile game likle call of duty. is it advisable to use cloth sim on a mobiel game
No of course not. It's so expensive to be processed. even my pc crashed a couple of times imagine what will happen to a mobile device!
I press right click on my plan but another list appearance? did you active plugin or what??
no there is no plugin, maybe you are in the wrong mode or something else is selected.
Ok thank you
How can you use this in a cinematic, with sequencer?
you need to add the cloth to the sequencer and then enable physics. I have to look into it though to make sure it works properly.
@@UnrealART yes I added to sequencer before, but it sometimes works sometimes not, I need to activate simulate button and gravity button on the cloth properties at outliner. but again, sometimes it doesn`t work
Mine just falls like 2 feet and sits there evey time. Any ideas?
does the simulation work at all ?
@@UnrealART thanks for responding. Looks like I had to change the strength setting to 2000 from 100 and that worked but it still won’t collide w environment. Crashes every time I tick the option.
@@sinistervids71 what is the polycount of the plane ? reduce the polycount and also the strength and see what happens 🤔🤔
@@UnrealART thanks for the advice! I'll try that next time. I think it might have something to do w my Level because it works in a new level for some reason. ugh
Thanks !
How can I make the cloth interact with Metahumans ?
you are very welcome, just enable collision for the metahumans and it should work I guess
I did try this simulation but with a extruded plane to look like a flag instead of just flat plane. Doesn't seem to work. I guess this simulation only works on flat plane with no volume/extrusion to it.
yes that`s true . 👍👍
Hi. I want a solution for my problem.
I have a character with pose static mesh import from maya. character had a cape cloth. I export it individual and enable skeletal mesh option. After applying the cloth simulation the cloth cross between body and other stuff.. I want to apply collision but that doesn't work for me.. any solution for this problem?
hello my friend . does the cloth collide with the other objects in your level properly?
we have to figure out whether the problem is caused by the cloth or your character .
@@UnrealART no actually i create a character turntable presentation So i tested with only character.. when i apply wind from all classes section and bump up the wind strength to 5. Cloth started acting with wind. But the cloth cross the body. No collison work. That's the problem.. I'm not sure what's the correct form in english (cross the body) it's overlapping. Sorry for my English.
@@UnrealART i want to add a collison just to stop the cloth overlapping. But can't add collison correctly..
There is a option in mesh details pannel. Where i can enable collison. But that's not working.. and sometimes it's crashes.
how does it automatically create a physics asset? that doesnt happen with me
after you drag your file into the content browser , in the FBX import options open the mesh tab , then open advanced and check create physics asset .
Hi! How can I make the interaction of the flag with the character? Cloth collision with character doesn't work :(
hi , does it work with the other static meshes in the level?
@@UnrealART Yes, this works for all static objects in the scene, except for the character.
@@Jen-R maybe the collisions of the character are not set properly
@@UnrealART How can this be done for a third person character? I set all the collision properties in the character's blueprint to "block all". But the character still goes through the fabric.
as soon as i pressed play after ticking collide with environment and force collision update, UE crashed. is it that performance heavy?
the number of the polygons of the plane has a significant effect in the simulation , try it with a plane with less poly count , it may solve the problem
@@UnrealART I had like 200 poly count or something ridiculously low
what are your pc specs??
@@UnrealART i have an i9 processor and rtx2080TI graphic card, lots of ram, usually handles things just fine, but in this particular case the program just crashed. i ended up giving up on the whole thing and just made my cloth static.
@@I-VisiBomb-I your pc is ok the crash is unusual 🤔 maybe try it with different versions of unreal later and see what happens
this thing doesn't work with cube, Please help me.
what exactly goes wrong?
@@UnrealART Thanks for responding, when I am using a cube (Shape), the cloth is not colliding with the cube.
I think there is something wrong with the collision
How can I make curtains and flags that can move inside UE5?
make the cloth as explained in the video , then connect it to a movable asset in the level
@@UnrealART 👍 thanks
Porque mierda se tienen que ir. A blender😊
