This is a great step by step tutorial. Mine's a 10 x 20 so I still needed a second body. But the reason I found this video is that the instructions for securing the end tarps is a bit confusing. It makes sense that straps need to be on the inside of tge tubular frame, yet the cartoons show them being on the outside. Additionally, I wanted a solid floor which I built out of treated 2 x 8 and plywood. I also added a raised skirt on the inside of the tarpoline attached to the platform's perimeter to help keep out critters and snow out. I love these home made youtube tutorials. They're usually filled with tips and tricks the manufactures manuals don't include. Well done, sir!

I built a 12x20 shed the other day and I'm glad I saw your video first. I had a bit of help, but was able to do most of the work myself and had the frame assembled in about 3 hours, without a ladder. Thanks!
Thanks so much for this video! I was able to build it all on my own. In similar weather conditions too. I'm in the northeast and built it in the cold. I had to delay it many days because of the wind and rain and snow. I made a few mistakes on the way and had to redo portions, but it got done. I built mine on a raised gravel section, and I was able to get 2 of those stakes that weren't designed for gravel into the ground. I had to buy some other stakes meant for gravel.

Do not forget to prepare ground. We dig some, filled with pit run, and leveled . Shelters stand better on prepared leveled ground. Our lasts longer than 3 years. To prevent UV damage I use that 303 marine spray. It worked.

Must have next step! Buy a good to very good hay tarp, or similar tarp that will fit over the top of the Shelter Logic cover and install it over the cover. They don't have to go right to the ground on the sides and only need to overlap the ends by 6 inches or so. Shelter Logic tarps, by my experience, do not last more than a couple of years. The sun rots them and then the snow or heavy rain makes them fail along the peak. A good to great quality, replaceable tarp that covers the top helps you get full value out of the original package. I have done this on 4 or 5 units over the years and got great value out of the original structure. In the end I get failure from snow loading if I can't get the snow off in time, but there are easy fixes to increase the load strength too. Good luck.

Advise is good, thank you. We started with ground: leveled and put gravel to prepare even surface. We just built some sort of reliable foundation. It helped during windy weather. Canopy was more stable.
Great idea. Remember to add another tarp on top, since the tarp is subject to deterioration from UV rays. Plenty of other UA-cam videos show you how to secure the top, but you seem like a guy who can figure it out. Consider adding strength to the “rafters” so the roof will hold snow until you can brush it off. I used galvanized pipe leftover from a chain link fence job. I installed mine at right angles 1/3 down from the peak of the roof. This reinforcement, plus adding another tarp should extend the life of your shelter.
Sometimes Mother Nature sends you a message by sending you a storm: go inside and have a think. Seems to work, can't fight a storm and you come out with a better idea. I like how you figured out a way for one person to do this job. I'm in the process of maybe setting one up before winter and you video is helpful.

Man! I wish I had watched this first. I'm working alone too. T The way the frame wobbled initially was a real concern. I'm setting mine up on rocky shale so I can't use those long 'auger' type stakes. Got something else in mind. Am also using a pick and shovel to level the spot. Fantastic video my friend. Thanks for the video! I used your method on my build. The only thing I did diffrent was I set the top on the frame then lifted it up since my shelterlogic was 10ft high by 24ft long.
I put my first section on the ground, then brought over the second section and put them together, on the ground, then the next. I still have to do the canvas, that is the hardest part, which is why I am watching your video. Thanks.

Thank you for this video mostly how you can do this 2 person job alone. I did just as you said and left off the lower legs. I also wrapped the top cover on before lifting it up. Mine is narrow 6ft and longer 12ft but still wasn't that difficult to add the legs. Tomorrow I will square everything up and figure out a way to secure it to my concrete pad. Thanks again
I actually did the same thing and put the bottom half on . I thought you needed the two people to put the canvas on .That’s all I need to do for mine to be done.So I will use my ladder for that .Thank you for showing how you do that.
I assembled my 10' x 20' equivalent to this in about 2 hours by myself. The main tactic was assembling the lower half of both ends first assembling only the horizontal poles that run near the ground down each side, and then standing each side up one end at a time by using a set of saw horses. As soon as each end was rotated up taking advantage of the slack and twist available in the low horizontal frame circuits, I could have even raised mainframe pole at a time and then hammered in the stakes I used to secure the first in place before moving onto the 2nd. Once this was complete, I had 3 vertical frame poles per side. I inserted 1 through the junction bracket that ties the verticals into the horizontals, screwed on a foot, pushed a tent stake into the ground, tied and then taped a string on the vertical pole and wrapped the free end of the cord to the tent stake. This had the entire lower half built in about an hour and perfectly stable yet without having to lock down any of the nuts and bolts just yet. The 2nd half took about an hour and it's entire frame is mounted. I will have to remove parts of the ends to install the front and ear canopy, but that's very quick and easy. Without ever having assembled one, I still think if I had prepared a little bit better, it could have been completed in an hour without going at break neck speed. *Now with the entire frame assembled and stable, I will install the end, front and top canopy before I start securing all the nuts and bolts so I am able to accommodate the lumpy ground. For the side frame feet, I will likely just cut some square of treated deck planks, screw the feet in and then tent stack each wood shoe and the thing would still be there after near tornado wind speeds.* I now have an outdoor storage and workshop garage for my 4-wheeler and dirt bike!
I used duct tape to secure the front/back tarp around the the poles to ratchet strap them down. Great job. I definitely should have put the anchors last. I’m still building it but thanks for the tips
Also for more stability and UV protection I purchased a 20x10 (dark gray) sail shade that I will add to the roof top down and anchor it. I have noticed the material doesn’t break down as easily from UV exposure. Just an idea, time will tell if it pays off.
I used a 2x4 in the middle down to a paver to add strength to the roof. I also tied a bucket in each corner filled with rocks to help hold it down. This was a chicken coop.
Put this together with a wobbly unlevel bar stool on my tippy toes 😅 these things are the worst; said never again & about to build a second 😫. I have a ladder now but I think I'm going with your tips 🤝🙏
Great idea but mine is 24 feet long. My shoulders would have loved to use your method. I had five of these over the years and second row ocean I have to paint the lower ends.

I followed some great advice to keep connections from loosening later. I got some 1/4x20 Nylok nuts and replaced the ones that came with the tent. It's funny how a 1/4x20 nut needs a 7/16 socket to tighten it. Amazon had a box of 60 for under $7.00.
I can say the same thing about the Harbor Freight 10 x 17. If you follow the instructions, you will be taking it apart before you can put it all the way together. Yup those polls need to go through the cover FIRST. You won't take it all apart, but I really don't like doing stuff twice.

Thanks for putting this up, my 10 x 10 was going well until I got to the part where you pull the canvas around the front and rear frame, in the instructions it makes it look as though you have to slide the legs up into the strap sleeve, I don't know why they couldn't just print on the page next to it "do not slide the leg into the strap sleeve, we understand the picture is garbage, so don't do it. Also good idea having extra rachet straps to really anchor it down, cheers from sunny England 👍

I purchased the shelterlogic 8x8x7 a few years ago. Unfortunately, no replacement covers are available at the moment. I want to tarp it all over, to almost the bottom...what size tarp should I get for an 8x8x7? Thsnks
That, I couldn't tell you. I would measure the poles to the roof bends, then the roof bends to the peak, add that together and double it for your tarp length, and I would measure front to back of the shed frame for the width. Add extra to compensate for the front and back. Keep in mind that a tarp isn't shaped for this, so you'll need to strap down the extra slop. Regarless, it's better to go way too big with the tarp than be just a little too short.
Did you need to cut the stitching to insert the PVC tube into the bottom end for the door and back? I purchased the roll up door kit for this but I do need to keep the rear of the tent secure. I have a tent I didnt do this to and regretted it.
Excellent, was helpful. I found this video because I was searching for help on one particular issue. The «shoulders», item 801204, can be mounted in two different ways. Mounted one way, the tent becomes higher and narrower, the other way the tent becomes wider and shorter. There is no indication in the user manual on how to mount these small bendt metal tubes. Not that I can find. Having watched your video several times, stopped playback, and looked carefully, it seems like you have mounted these items with the longer part pointing down. So I will go for that, I am about to assemble exactly the same product.
A tornado hit my area last March, and that was the end of this shed for me. I wasn't directly affected by the tornado, just secondary winds, so if you are affected by a lot of really strong storm winds, I would avoid this shed.
Great job in showing us your method of assembeling it without ladders, but I was more interested in how the ratches work and to feed the lines through them but your body was in the road when filming
Definitely a 2 person job unless you tape the joints together just don't put alot of tape because you have to take it apart during assembly. But if you don't your gonna get really aggrivated when it keeps coming apart. Or maybe one person could do it if you prop one end against something like a wall.
how heavy duty is this, as I live in a Doblo alot, i have a tent thing that goes on the back, its a drive on , drive off, but is to light weight, no good in high winds, many thanks Keith
Also I don't have ground to use the stakes.. how can I make other adjustments for staking it down on concrete? Can I stretch cables thru it to reach some of my grass?
Huge problem I have, the slots for the poles are really tight. Whoever ran the sewing machine was probably late for lunch. I made a guide plug to help ease the tubes through
Here after seeing the bolts aren’t unlabeled in one package and 3/4 of the tubing isn’t labeled either. 😭 I know there’s a guide and count so I can lay it all out…but man that’s a time consuming step I didn’t want to take when already pressed for time
I think the Achilles heel to this tarp tent is the thickness of the cover material, seems flimsy and with time 1-2years the UV rays with weakened the siding rip and tear with medium winds….Time will tell but this is too new of a product for me…..Going metal shed….
How much wind did you have? My 10 x 20 held up just fine in 30 mph wind. Yes, if flapped around but everything is still in it's proper place and nothing broken or torn.
Only one thing wrong with these. They get destroyed by UV of the SUN. Mine lasted 2 years and just shreaded after that. Frame is great covering not so much.
Mine didn't come with instructions. When I called the salesperson, her voicemail said " it my take several days for a response".Powder coating is the worst PC process I've seen' if it's even that. Shelter logic is a waste of money.
You should have put the inner bracing poles in before you put the cover over the shed. I don't think that your "easy to assemble" quotes are appropriate. If you've already put 10 of these sheds together, then yes, it's probably easy. " FOLKS, IT AIN'T THAT EASY"

I did mine alone for my truck. In fact, I used my truck toi stand in while putting the roof on. Better, and safer, than a ladder.

I paid $135 on Temu for a 10x15 heavy duty and he’s been through a few tornados here in TN and still strong.

Thanks for putting this up, my 10 x 10 was going well until I got to the part where you pull the canvas around the front and rear frame, in the instructions it makes it look as though you have to slide the legs up into the strap sleeve, I don't know why they couldn't just print on the page next to it "do not slide the leg into the strap sleeve, we understand the picture is garbage, so don't do it.
Also good idea having extra rachet straps to really anchor it down, cheers from sunny England 👍

I purchased the shelterlogic 8x8x7 a few years ago. Unfortunately, no replacement covers are available at the moment. I want to tarp it all over, to almost the bottom...what size tarp should I get for an 8x8x7? Thsnks
That, I couldn't tell you. I would measure the poles to the roof bends, then the roof bends to the peak, add that together and double it for your tarp length, and I would measure front to back of the shed frame for the width. Add extra to compensate for the front and back. Keep in mind that a tarp isn't shaped for this, so you'll need to strap down the extra slop. Regarless, it's better to go way too big with the tarp than be just a little too short.

Did you need to cut the stitching to insert the PVC tube into the bottom end for the door and back? I purchased the roll up door kit for this but I do need to keep the rear of the tent secure. I have a tent I didnt do this to and regretted it.
Excellent, was helpful. I found this video because I was searching for help on one particular issue. The «shoulders», item 801204, can be mounted in two different ways. Mounted one way, the tent becomes higher and narrower, the other way the tent becomes wider and shorter. There is no indication in the user manual on how to mount these small bendt metal tubes. Not that I can find.
Having watched your video several times, stopped playback, and looked carefully, it seems like you have mounted these items with the longer part pointing down.
So I will go for that, I am about to assemble exactly the same product.

A tornado hit my area last March, and that was the end of this shed for me. I wasn't directly affected by the tornado, just secondary winds, so if you are affected by a lot of really strong storm winds, I would avoid this shed.
were the anchors included in the kit? and how has it held up during winter?
for the snow or rain load, did you ever have to reinforce the top frame?

Definitely a 2 person job unless you tape the joints together just don't put alot of tape because you have to take it apart during assembly. But if you don't your gonna get really aggrivated when it keeps coming apart. Or maybe one person could do it if you prop one end against something like a wall.

how heavy duty is this, as I live in a Doblo alot, i have a tent thing that goes on the back, its a drive on , drive off, but is to light weight, no good in high winds, many thanks Keith

Here after seeing the bolts aren’t unlabeled in one package and 3/4 of the tubing isn’t labeled either. 😭 I know there’s a guide and count so I can lay it all out…but man that’s a time consuming step I didn’t want to take when already pressed for time
Took a long time to separate and label the different bolt sizes. I swear they only differed by a few threads! 😊

Measure your 2 diagonals to be sure it’s square. Our ground wasn’t flat and we let it go not square. Big mistake.
I think the Achilles heel to this tarp tent is the thickness of the cover material, seems flimsy and with time 1-2years the UV rays with weakened the siding rip and tear with medium winds….Time will tell but this is too new of a product for me…..Going metal shed….

ours collapse with any wind the bars are not strong and that "tarps" tear very easily We are so dissapointed

My 10 x 20 held up just fine in 30 mph wind. Yes, if flapped around but everything is still in it's proper place and nothing broken or torn.
Only one thing wrong with these. They get destroyed by UV of the SUN. Mine lasted 2 years and just shreaded after that. Frame is great covering not so much.

Mine didn't come with instructions. When I called the salesperson, her voicemail said " it my take several days for a response".Powder coating is the worst PC process I've seen' if it's even that. Shelter logic is a waste of money.

You should have put the inner bracing poles in before you put the cover over the shed. I don't think that your "easy to assemble" quotes are appropriate. If you've already put 10 of these sheds together, then yes, it's probably easy. " FOLKS, IT AIN'T THAT EASY"
