I choose to believe that “Barbecue” has a select-fire switch and it functions as either an extinguisher or a flamethrower, hence why there are three canisters on the back pack (1 is the igniter, 1 the napalm, and the other 1 a compressed fire retardant)….. Also flamethrowers can still make sense in a fire-fighter role, the saying “fight fire with fire” was coined for a reason and sometimes it helps to direct and stop a greater fire threat, for example in a forest fire they do it sometimes to stop it from spreading by burning minor areas before a fire hits it can starve the fire of fuel to burn. Plus it makes his name, persona and character better and gives him another weapon to use against Cobra. Blowtorch has a better flamethrower with more fuel of course.
Barbecue is among my favorite G.I.Joe characters and figures and I have him in my APC! I first remember seeing him as part of Slaughter's Marauder's in the G.I.Joe DIC miniseries Operation Dragonfire! I was introduced to him in the Sunbow Series when I saw his PSA at the end of the Gamesmaster where he was telling kids what to do when trapped in their bedroom behind a burning door and since then, he was one of my favorite G.I.Joe characters!
Fun fact: The actor who played Barbecue in the cartoon also voiced Robin/Nightwing in the batman the animated series. If that weren't cool enough The actress who played Lady Jaye in the cartoon voiced Mavin ( Selena Kyle's Friend) In Batman the animated series and Dick Gaunter who played Serpentor in the cartoon also voiced Ted ( Clay faces Friend in batman the animated series. Just thought I'd give some cool trivia.
That is pretty cool trivia! Plus Ed Gilbert ( General Hawk) voiced a doctor in Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm (1993).In his interview on the DVD/ Blu Ray release of Batman and Harley Quinn, they show a still picture of Loren Lester at a comic book convention with a table full of pictures of cartoon characters he has voiced. While Robin/Nightwing was on a majority of them, he also had pictures of Barbecue. This is how I first learned that Loren Lester was the voice of Barbecue in the Sunbow cartoon. If he ever visits a comic book convention close to me, I am defiantly getting his autograph on a picture of Barbecue.
I love barbrcue! He's one of my absolute favourites ever since I found a very cheap complete figure at a local comic shop! Not to mention he remains me of Moltar (the early adult swim host and space ghost character) also always thought his foam sprayer could also shoot fire because he looks like a pyro guy
I loooooove this series so much, guys! I know I've posted this comment many times already, LOL, but that should show how much I appreciate these vids. Thanks a lot for making them. YOOOOOOOOO JOE! YOOOOOOOOOOO JLS! lol
In this day and age, rescue heroes are very popular. Besides Barbecue here seems almost like a direct follow on to the Adventure Team! And so apropos since there is a large contingent of first responders in the GI Joe fan community. Side note, one of my good friends in high school was actually into GI Joe and her favorite Joe was Barbecue. Imagine years later when I found out she had married a firefighter, I had to give her a bit of grief. She never told her husband she lost her old figure at the beach. Accidentally buried it in the sand.
Good to have you back with another video about a Joe character, Barbecue was very interesting not shown much in the cartoons but very prominent in the comics, looking for the next one, thank you Jesse
Awesome video on Barbeque Jessie! I also enjoyed the Cobra Convergence drawing, even though I didn't win. Would love to see a video on Tripwire and Voltar.
Love your content! You got me so excited I started reading the entire series again. I have every issue of ARAH that I started collecting from when I was a kid.
Glad to see Barbecue getting the spotlight!!! Hey, Mr JLS, sorry if I’m giving you a migraine for asking this; but have you ever thought about redoing your older Joe videos and giving them the same treatment as your newer ones?
Great video!! Very complete!! I like the figure, but I never liked the character as it was defined in his filecard. There's no function in a counter-terrorist/recon team for a pure firefighter. An EOD or hazzard material or paramedic background would fit better. Also equipping him with only firefighting accessories limited the toy. As kids, me, my brother and cousin always struggled to fit him in the combat or story. Most of the time he was piloting something or got injured in the opening of the plays.
My brother had this action figure when we were kids. I couldn’t keep my hands off of it. I eventually stole it from him and he never did find out what happened to it. Lol!
The only US military branch that I know of were the Air Force. The Army primarily relies on civilian fire fighters. The Navy has no dedicated fire fighter branch but trains all sailors to do it and I'm not sure but I think that the Marines do as well but the Air Force run hundreds of airfields around the world so they DO need their own fire department branch So I wonder if all of GI Joes fire fighters are Air Force personnel? But his file card says he was Army which makes no sense to me It's strange that GI Joe doesn't have FF vehicles in it's ranks 9:57 Didn't COBRA put their family members into S.N.A.K.E. suits which brainwashes the wearers to operate the suits for COBRA?
I wish Hasbro would Make more animated movies like DC Or even Lego GI Joe Resolute is awesome I'd like to see more movies Like that and mortal Combat legends Scorpion

Pork chop sandwiches, baby!

Cool considering I’m ordering both G.I. Joe Classified Barbecue and Lady Jaye figures online this weekend.

YOOOOOOOOO JOE!
YOOOOOOOOOOO JLS! lol
"Fireman! We do not need no stinking fireman!"
Few moments later...
"HELP! HELP! MY HOUSE IS ON FIRE!"
For some reason, I read that in Shipwreck's voice (from the Sunbow age)

Another favorite just because hes a firefighter and I still have his original figure and python patrol figure 💪👍
Actually, Barbecue's second action figure was part of the Slaughters Marauders, Python Patrol was a Cobra sub team from 1989.
Awesome video on Barbeque Jessie! I also enjoyed the Cobra Convergence drawing, even though I didn't win. Would love to see a video on Tripwire and Voltar.
Think you so very much from all of your friends in cobra. And keep up the good work soon enough cobra will have gotten all of the Joe's
Love your content! You got me so excited I started reading the entire series again. I have every issue of ARAH that I started collecting from when I was a kid.
The Day of the Viper was one of my fav. episodes. They where running across the globe attacking COBRA outposts...the ending was the ultimate punchline
That episode was my favorite too
Stepped up the pun game for this one lol. It's appreciated
He's one of my favorite action figures I bought him and Lifeline together colorful action figures back in 1987
One of my favorites too. I met the guy who voiced him at a Con.
He's the best firefighter on the team. 😀👍🚒
So Barbecue fought fire with fire in the Transformers crossover? 😄
Glad to see Barbecue getting the spotlight!!! Hey, Mr JLS, sorry if I’m giving you a migraine for asking this; but have you ever thought about redoing your older Joe videos and giving them the same treatment as your newer ones?
"It's barbecue in there"
Not sure why you would have a firefighter in a combat zone but I like the character so okay.
Great video!! Very complete!! I like the figure, but I never liked the character as it was defined in his filecard. There's no function in a counter-terrorist/recon team for a pure firefighter. Totally Awesome! 🤘🏻
Could you possibly do Lift-Ticket and Ace next please?
Would u do big boa ,Alley vipers, Tele-vipers, or any vipers
He's actually Mandalore from KOTOR
One question and one request. Are most of the Joes from Boston? and you need to do a profile on DEEP SIX
Quite a few are yes, but much more are from New York, New Jersey, and California.
I'm trying to find any episode(s) with him in there!🔥🔥🔥
My brother had this action figure when we were kids. I couldn’t keep my hands off of it. I eventually stole it from him and he never did find out what happened to it. Lol!
The Viper is one of the BEST!!!! episodes by SunBow
