Growing up as a kid in Montana, when SCI-FI was added to the Joes's he immediately became one of my favorite characters just for the simple fact that he was from my home state! I remember finding him in the store and reading his card back and was blown away, "Heres a new Joe and he's from Montana! Are you kidding me!" Living in a small town in an state with a small population in the '80s we didn't have access to a lot of the regular comic book deliveries or tv shows, so believe it or not this was kind of an impressionable thing for a kid at the time. It may seem silly today with the access to tech like we have now, but back then it was a big deal, to me at least.
Awesome video on Sci Fi Jesse. Really liked how you put this together from all the different aspects. Would like to see video's on Pale Peony and Iron Grénadier General Mayhem.
Another great video. As a kid I was always intrigued by the flashy Joes. As time went on I grew to appreciate the more conventional characters. Can't wait till you do a Mercer video.
One of my top favorite Joes. Hope he’s released as a Classified figure given how he was one of the first to be featured on the website, game, and concept art for figures though with a darker green uniform or the black armor and gray jumpsuit.
Robert Heinlein is absolutely one of the greatest and most controversial authors in science fiction history. That being said, I would suggest Stranger in a Strange Land, the Moon is a Harsh Mistress, and, of course Starship Troopers. If you like GI Joe, check him out. He also used to write for Boys Life Magazine and was in the Navy.
Yeah, if there is one thing about GI Joe bios (other than the enlisted pax having PMOS and SMOS collections that would cause their training NCO to hang himself just trying to schedule their refresher and leadership courses) that never hung together was their chronic under-ranking of people who would only ever be senior NCOs and CWOs or field-grade officers. I mean, Sci-Fi's undergrad degree and civilian expertise alone would probably qualify him to be a direct commission O-3 in many periods of recent history.
I had gijoe things when I was a child. I have always and still am as an adult fascinated with the blend of syfy technology combined with military stuff and the futuristic looking military bases as well. Thank you for this video! Love it! On a note: I was told that and heard that Cobra was a race of beings that came from outer space and that this futuristic technology combined with the military was the technology of the Cobra race here was being used by Gijoe here. Also, I and a few others here discussing Gijoe speculated that the futuristic looking technology could also be the result of Gi joe here taking place over a hundred years into the future from 1980s at appx. the year 2100. The very futuristic dress of soldiers with their outfits as well could be easily around the year 2100 as well.
Lol the problem is that nobody at the rank of specialist would be let anywhere near research and development of new equipment. I think that was the biggest flaw with GI Joe- the disconnect between rank and MOS. This is surprising because Larry Hama was in the military and should have known better.
Why does the thumbnail of this video feature Sci-Fi holding a standard G.I. Joe stock rifle? Sci-Fi’s entire schtick involved carrying a rare futuristic laser rifle.
Serpentor pimp slaps Mindbender. I love it!
My first gi joe as a kid still a favorite

Take a moment to recognize the spaceship the Joes used was named the "USS Defiant". A nice Star Trek nod.
Excellent video as always JLS Comics 👍😎👍
I can relate to him do to the fact that he's never in a rush. Mr. Slow-Mo 👉👍
All The space battles reminds me of a little known joe named "Robo-joe". He wore an orange space suit. Would love a vid on that rare Joe!
