Animal Carousel and Farris Wheel Cake Tutorial

- This cake was featured in the March 2018 American Cake Decorating Magazine. This video shows the progress of how it all came together.
*Important*
Because this cake was for a magazine photo shoot, I did not use real cake and therefore no dowels were used when stacking all the tiers. ANY cake that has another cake on top of it needs to have support dowels.

Sizes:
Carousel top - 6in round cut into cone shape
Inside carousel - 4in round x 5in high
Carousel base - 6in round x 2in high
Bottom - 8in round x 5in high
Fondant Brand Used: Bakels Pettinice, Horses were made using Sarachino modelling paste.

How do you manage to keep the body of horse from slowly slipping and coming to bottom?
I use a firm modelling paste and attach it to the straw with water. But if you find it's slipping you can add something below to prop it up temporarily... Like a silicon mould or some fondant.
So cute. Where do you find the cone top for carosel?
I carved it from a 6in round stryofoam dummy :)
Did you dowel the 1st and 2nd cake?
Not this one because it was a dummy cake but for a real cake, yes I would :)
