    This is probably one of the best comparison videos I've seen. I feel like everyone is trashing the scribe for not being as sophisticated as the iPad on the writer's side but I was looking for a kindle with writing features not a writer's pad with some reading functions. As a heavy kindle user, this device was perfect and ultimately if I bought a Remarkable or iPad, I still would have a Kindle anyway so this is perfect for me. Thanks for reviewing whilst keeping in mind who this device could be for.

      I'm really tempted by an e-ink tablet, mainly the scribe due to the Kindle book access and backlight, but I do use and have used OneNote for years, so it would be a bit of a big shift for me.
      I currently have a plethora of tablet options (11" iPad Pro 2018, Surface Pro 9, 12.9" M2 iPad Pro) and I also have a Kindle which I use when I get the chance to sit down and do some reading.
      I could probably do away with the iPad devices and my Kindle completely if I had a Scribe as a Notebook + Kindle combo - It's just that idea of shifting away from an application I've loved using for approx. 15 years

    A very fair comparison. I love the Kindle Scribe. The two most important unique selling points with the Scribe is that you can use it with no eye strain and no need to depend on external lighting at night. Plus we have updates to look forward to whilst enjoying the excellence of its e-reading quality. Quite a pioneering experience. 😄

    Very good review! You kind of came to the same conclusions about the Scribe as Voja from My Deep Guide. Seems like the hardware is fantastic but the software is not there yet. Hopefully, they live up to their promise and improve it.

    This is my friend's second Kindle. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOnUR4NaproSbBbD2sdI4XcDZ58Jz8GOx The first one which is about 5 or 6 years old quit charging because the bottom connector went bad. When I saw they upgraded to a USB C connector I knew it was time. I think the old USB Micro connectors are a PIA. Her new one is great. It synced right out of the box and connected to WiFi immediately. The thing is perfect! Sooo mine will arrive tomorrow. (Been reading off an old Fire) What bugs me are the reviewers that give this product one star because it didn't work out of the box or they were too dumb to figure it out. If it doesn't work send it back and get another one. It couldn't be easier with Amazon. Giving it one star because it didn't work says nothing about a good one that does work. I bet a bad one is one in a thousand or more. Give it a break...just get another one.

    The biggest deal breaker foe the reMarkable is that it's not backlit. I like to take notes in bed or on the sofa while watching TV. You can't do this with the reMarkable without some kind of lighting. I think the Scribe has more potential going forward.

    Great review! I feel like so many people are bashing the scribe, but it's because it's not the features that they are specifically wanting. I feel like so many people are expecting a first generation device to perform wonders. Compared to the remarkable 2 the scribe would definitely better fit my needs since I am an avid reader and would like the note taking for school. That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing some reviews of just the scribe.

    The device is compelling from a hardware standpoint, but i have been trying to simplify my digital footprint for a bit now, and my handwritten notes live in Apple Notes on an iPad Mini. Obviously not Amazon's "fault" for not having access to that notes app, but until the have something more universal [OneNote, Notability, Bear, etc], it's not something I can move to.

    Branden, do you like the iPad Pro or the Onyx to using your planner with OneNote? I like my iPAD PRO for this but have thought about trying the Onyx Boox to see what I like more

    • @bodendorfer
      @bodendorfer  Рік тому +1

      If I have to choose between the two, the iPad all around is a complete tablet, however what I like about the Boox is that I can use this at my desk all week, never really needing to make a point to charge it, while keeping the display on for extended periods. I do naturally enjoy the writing experience of the Boox over the iPad. However, I have a matte screen cover on my iPad that greatly improves the writing feel. If it wasn't for the new addition of Focus modes on the iPad, I would see that having a more distraction free device with the Boox is enjoyable.

    I have just bought my Kindle Scribe (being an avid reader and Kindle enthusiast since thr Kindle with buttons - 3rd edition?) In my case, when I highlight any part of the text and I choose the note, I only get an option to write with "keyboard", no handwritten notes. I'm at the moment fully updated and I have no idea how to utilize that function :( That would be awesome because sometimes I would love to add my personal "feel" to the particular sentence or any part of the book...

    Thank you for this indepth review. One thing is unclear to me - how would you get the marked up PDF/planner templates out of the Kindle Scribe on to your computer? I am mostly a reader, and with my 5 year old Kindle needing an upgrade due to damage I am leaning towards the Scribe, as I have quite a few books in my Amazon library. The big value add for me is to scribble notes and have a planner in there like you show in the video. I currently do this with my iPad but get distracted with all the additional apps on their and the notifications. With the iPad the notes sync via iCloud so its fairly seamless. Would I have to connect my Scribe to my Mac via cables to get the files out? Thanks for your help!

    What one device would you select? I am all of those things that you mentioned. i have a kindle and a Remarkable 2. I use them both, but don't like the fact that I need to bring them both with me when I travel. I also don't like that the Remarkable doesn't sync with OneNote, which i use for work and personally every single day. Also, if Amazon got the hardware right, the software is an easy fix. If the hardware is wrong, you have to buy a new device. now, time tells us that Amazon will only update a device for so long before it is deprecated, but, by then there are usually dramatically new features that are worth buying a new piece of hardware for.

    • @bodendorfer
      @bodendorfer  Рік тому +1

      no thats not at all. So if you want this... there is a couple of options. most common is to use onenote, then from your desktop computer you can convert handwritten notes to type. If you want to use an iPad and or samsung device, and don't have a windows computer, then I would suggest using goodnotes or samsung notes. If you have further questions go to www.key2success.com and start a chat.

      I think that the Boox Tab Ultra converts notes into text. it also converts voice directly into text as well. The Boox Ultra basically does everytning that you would ever want. However, it costs about 50% more than the others.

    I have a noob question! I am in the market for an e ink device to use on my photoshoots for my clients to sign waivers. I can have roughly 20 clients in a day and they have to sign two waivers each and as a result I want to go paperless. Which device would you recommend? which device is it easier to write onto PDF's. I have read the kindle doesn't support some PDF formats. I would obviously like to be able to save all these waivers on the device and into the cloud also.
    Thanks

    • @bodendorfer
      @bodendorfer  Рік тому +4

      So you could use the kindle. But you would have to send each file to the device and then email each signed document. The file system has not really be developed yet. As for the remarkable the desktop app would allow you to copy and paste documents and then have them sign.
      However what I do. Is I use my Boox. Connected to OneDrive. I drop the file in the client folder. Open the pdf in OneDrive on the boox and have them sign. From there I can access on any device and easily share the document.

    • @briannev4452
      @briannev4452 Рік тому

      From what others have said about the scribe is that it is comparable to the kindle paperwhite. It does not have any glare from direct light. It conforms to what type of setting you're in. So if it's dark, the backlight comes on. If it's light outside it turns off. Not having glare is one of my fav things about kindle paperwhite.

    That's the problem with e readers. The technology is simply not there yet. If I ever buy a e reader it MUST be on the level of a Samsung Galaxy Book. But in addition it must be less harmful for your eyes and of course you shpuld be able to read books on it.
    That's why I am currently still using regular paper based books.
