Monkeying Around in Gibraltar 🇬🇧🇪🇸: FionnOnTheRoad Episode 14

It’s my first full day on the road as a solo traveller and I decided to visit the Rock of Gibraltar, one half of the pillars of Hercules jutting majestically into the Mediterranean Sea. This being such an important landmark and historically strategic location has created a rich history, switching between British and Spanish control right up until the end of the 18th century. Nowadays, its a popular tourist destination with everything from historic tours to scenic hikes with unrivaled views of the sea. There are even monkeys (yes I know they’re apes) that bring a nice charm to the rock… and also wreak havoc for tourists such as myself.

Gibraltar is more dramatic than I imagined. There's a hell of a lot there, so now I'm not surprise that evidence of the last and great Neanderthal settlement in and among the caves there. Wild video!

I totally agree it’s an amazing place that really shouldn’t be overlooked. It’s not huge so in my opinion perfect for one full day or two shorter days to see everything it has to offer. If I was to do it again I’d make sure to arrive very early and have an entire day to explore
