Chefchaouen and Morocco’s Hidden Gem, Akchour Waterfalls 🇲🇦: FionnOnTheRoad Episode 21

- Chefchaouen. The blue pearl of Morocco. This charming mountainside city is best known for its striking blue walled houses, towering peaks of the Rif mountains, and a certain infamous plant grown in the fields of the surrounding area! In this video, myself and a team of fellow travellers from the hostel make our way from Chefchaouen to Akchour waterfalls, a 45 minute shared taxi ride away.
Now about Akchour.
This place is a fairytale on earth. One of the most stunning and unexpected places I have ever had the pleasure and privilege of visiting. From the second I arrived to the second I left my jaw was glued to the ground as I did my best to take in everything I saw. Incredible mountain views on the drive in followed by the aquamarine waters. Red and orange rock walls of the canyon, lush greenery of the trees with pink flowers dotting the landscape. All of this inside a canyon crossed over by the iconic “God’s Bridge”, a natural rock arch that looks like it was carved by God himself. While definitely not a “hidden gem”, I feel like Akchour is still underappreciated on the whole. No Morocco trip is complete without a visit to Chefchaouen and Akchour.
In my opinion, this city and the surrounding area need at least a week if not two to fully appreciate everything that it has to offer. One thing is for sure, I wish I had more time to check out the city itself, and I’m really sad to have had to cut my time there short. But rest assured, this is one destination I will definitely come back to!

Cannabis has always been grown abundantly in the riff regions since forever (Morocco has been for a long time the biggest producer of marijuana resin :hashish), and even though it was technically illegal, the governement didn't really enforce it and let people grow it, last year to resolve this problem the governement finally legalized it for medical, cosmetic and industrial purposes making the farmers there benefit legally from their stuff without being in a legal gray area
Totally makes sense for the government to legalize growing it then! Must be very helpful for the farmers

wow just amazing..u know what fion? after watching so many videos of other tourists in the same period u r doing urs, the only conclusion I come up with is that our land loved u really..i really believe in that connection the mother nature has with human being..the places in ur trip, the weather, the nature, the sky..everythng seems perfect really!..our land opened up to u beautifully! it had showed u all its charm..Iam saying this after seeing all the other videos which are nowhere near urs..AMAZING..i guess if u have stayed more u would have seen more beauty shouting out everywhere just fr u ❤❤
It certainly felt like that! Everywhere I went I seemed to have some of the best luck with weather. I’m glad I’m not the only one who had that sentiment. I love nature too, and it really felt like mother nature put on her best display for me during my trip

This is by far your best video of Morocco, you deserve a lot more subscribers, but soon you'll get there bro, you should visit Tetouan and Al Hociema beaches they're the best in Morocco, and Tetouan is just 1hour drive from Chefchaouen

Awwww that looks beautiful.. I'm Moroccan and I've been to Akchour before but unfortunately we couldn't reach that waterfall.. I was with my family and the path was hard for my mom to walk.. Wish to go back there again and swim like you guys did 🤩

We can say that you are discovering beautiful things in Morocco. There are many regions that have a lot of water. This is what makes each region different from the others. I live in the capital, but I visit these regions every month. You could say that I am obsessed with nature. if you are still in the north of the kingdom, I recommend you interesting regions to see (stay in the surroundings, you have not yet visited everything, there are still many regions like akchour) I wish you a wonderful time here in Morocco
So many regions with a huge variety of landscapes to see. I really wish I could have spent more time in Morocco… there’s so much I haven’t seen yet. But the world is huge and I’ve gotta keep moving. I’ll be back for sure 😉

Hello.. there is a great place in the regions of chefchaoun called 'Ouad El Kennar' is more beautiful then akchour!
