I wrote an unfavorable critique about Fikshun a while back. Not about his technique, but about how rehearsed a lot of his performances seemed. That’s something I would never do today. Dude has taken all the good and made it better while leaving letting go of the unoriginal and stale moves and crafted his style into one of the great dancers of our time. I’m proud of him, he has been waking up the greatness at a rapid pace as of late. These Battle Series, Seems to have cranked his dial up. Great to see Fikshun, Dance with conviction! Arsenal came prepared and brought his A Game. I love battles where both parties come to win and the match up is fair. This came down to preparedness, both practiced and performed impeccably. Arsenal came with rounds made for this battle, not just highlighting his technique and musicality but delivering a well though out cohesive narrative that everyone could rally behind. Both performers should be congratulated! Fikshun, every defeat is a learning experience. Arsenal, Awesome and well deserved win.
Don't think they were necessarily bad at all, but this battle for me was definitely a reminder of how necessary flow and timing are and creating a variation within them. The approach to each round felt a little too similar like they blended together, aside from the puppeteer round of course. There were very impressive big moves and technical ability but everything in-between the big moves/moments didn't really captivate or serve as a worthy setup or interesting visual contrast to the big moment. But like you said doing 6 rounds in a day is a great test/measure, big respect to both artists.
Within the realm of flexing, Arsenal was very solid idk what you mean by not dancing homie. I still appreciate your opinion and perspective because of how knowledgeable and comprehensive you are.
Let me break this down to you this is a battlefest battle in which are mainly flexing battles flexing is you’re own expression. Flexing is like battle rap you can have bars and be able to rap very good but if you don’t have. Performance, Cadence, Showmanship, Aggression, & Haymakers you will loose. He didn’t have to groove or dance to win that first round but his puppet scheme was the most impactful concept of the whole battle I don’t remember one move fikshun did. I'm getting use to these flexing/concept battles. They're quite entertaining. But for some reason I just don't FEEL it. I hardly feel any groove, soul in these battle. I agree. It can be pushed further. It does feel like sometimes the music isn't really being incorporated into the dance and they are more focused on displaying technique or concept. Which is the norm for these style of battles usually. When it's done consecutively it can make ya lose interest
You are definitely very smart and articulated, especially on topics of flow and groove. But when you got to the topic of dance being subjective.. you lost me.. because you say it IS subjective and cant be critiqued, but then talk about bad seams, and inconsistencies in groove and worst of all people “not dancing”. Im all for constructive criticism (which I don’t remember you doing tbh) .. but from viable sources.
What up dog. Appreciate to be able to even have a conversation with you. Nah I was saying people speak about dance being subjective a lot and I’m more objective with my opinion cause when it’s subjective and so free it’s hard to place any criticism on it. I never think dance only needs to have groove for it to be dance cause there’s a multitude of different things that make dance what it is that I spoke on in the video. The first round was the only one I questioned for the idea of dancing but thought that round was definitely the highlight and crazy af however you came up with the it. I couldn’t even give criticism on your approach cause I don’t know your dance enough to speak like I know what you can do
I will admit I'm getting use to this style of dance/battles. I believe their needs to be a balance of performance (concepts, storytelling, abstract movements, set-ups/blow-ups or beatkills) and just raw dance (musicality, groove, bounce, flow). In these type of battles I've watched there's too much of an imbalance. A lot of us are wowed by each dancers ability but do we feel it? Like every dance style shares common dance fundamentals that can make anyone connect with their dancing. In this particular style, it seems to lean towards who can put on a better show than who dance better to the song. Maybe I'm wrong and need to learn more but I wanna see more dance. I liked your performance and Fikshun's. It takes great skill to do what yall do. Yall clearly work hard at yall craft and I respect that. I'll try to keep up with your battles and freestyles moving forward.
Also wanna follow up on that social/conversational approach. From my perspective dance its both objective and subjective. I think the subjective part would be expression, concept, relatability, and beauty. Objectively you might have things like musicality, execution etc I think throughout all of your rounds you were talking a lot about a particular topic or concept but there was no main idea/thesis/point. There wasn't really a punchline or a unifying moment. The lack of main idea means that you don't necessarily have a destination for your concept and it felt like you were telling us 15 really cool but unrelated facts about your concept
@@iudexCervello man you need to educate yourself on the battlefest style man!!! There was nothing but punch lines , no main idea no thesis point?? Bro your just wrong you need to be battlefest fan to understand the flex style

U really explained the shit perfect. Arsenal had a whole strings on his shit and a whole routine no real dancin, and fik shun just didn’t snap as hard as usual just eh
😂😂”Did arsenal dance the first round ?” I questioned the same thing but I have to understand that their is different kinds of dance and no boundaries. Arsenal went crazy and was prepared. He looked choreographed and like he was freestyling at same time. As for fikshun, he definitely use freestyle with some of his signatures. Lol 😂 your face whole time , had me rolling🤣🤣🤣.
Let me start off by saying Havoc and fikshun was the best battle during this entire event. I still go back and watch it. Lol. Arsenal first round was really interesting for me, it wowed me, but I guess unfamiliarity will always wow you until you see it again and then its like " oh " .

You. Be. HATIN'. Fik got SONNED. Fik nice, but he tends to be VERY one-dimensional. Arsenal was hit and miss in this battle, but it was more than enough to win.
nah Arsenal got hype because what he was doing was fire and the crowd felt that too. Fikshun didnt get much hype because his rounds were light compared to his rounds vs CJ and Havoc.
I'm with you ... WTF! Dude became (PSYCHO) Arsenal means "SET FIRE" I'm Tickled #Creativity (He Hungry and came 2 eat) The Struggle is REAL!!! as we say ..."I aint playing witcha" GET IT**
Fik-shun is a great dancer but he clearly lost. I know that’s your boy and all but dude lost 3-0. Arsenal went crazy. Everybody agrees with me too just look at the comments under the video. This is the only time I feel like you was bias.
I’m new to this channel, but does this channel focus on reactions to dance or is that just something you do on the side? You don’t seem very impressed by what I concider great technical dancing, so I’m kinda missing the entire «reaction» portion I guess.
I've been watching your channel for a minute now and this was a very interesting video the best Puppet Masters or ever seen was from the dude from New York from Rock Steady Crew that was back in the days and the puppet master that was from California Fresno but his style was okay but I have seen better
I’m kinda upset at the point that you said “did Arsenal dance the first round”. I can tell you don’t know flexing nor bruk up so let me explain. Flexing and bruk up embodiment character it’s disrespectful to say what you said. I could believe what you said while you could’ve said some facts but you didn’t you awfully judge this not by a judge stand point. You explain like a beginner dancer would say it. Was not delivered proper you didn’t know of Arsenal and you didn’t have a open mind. I’m not a Arsenal nor fik shun fan honestly you could’ve reacted to it waaaaaaay better. Like you didn’t think about character as a character you thought of it like a choreo which it wasn’t it’s called planning your next move and create a new character!!!! Their was no facts just controversial statements. I’m honestly disappointed.
I absolutely agree. Like respect to Metal for voicing his thoughts, but he gotta understand that the dancers in official battles such as BattleFest ain’t supposed to impress you, but rather the judges of that battle. And those judges have a whole different rubric system and culture from us, and now im assuming Metal’s one of those who hasn’t understood that. Like i get he just wants to say what he thinks is fire or not, but at the same time, he makes it sound like they didn’t kill it when in actuality, they did what fit best for the competition which was what it was all about. That’s why Fik Shun lost, because Arsenal understood the culture better and was more comfortable with the flex environment. Metal, I respect you but we gotta mention culture clashes as well my man. Especially since you claim yourself to have a lot of experience, people might listen to you and miss the point of the battle like you did. Much love
Spoke with arsenal where he explained more so the focus for these type of joints. Initially it's like me looking at J Rock battling fik shun and saying why tf you got all this pre set up shit when you're suppose to be throwing down. He already explained to me his approach though for this event and wouldn't be a round he'd use in a different type of battle. So I hear you but regardless whether or not you understand makes little to no difference to me. Once the round was over I was surprised cause I thought he was going to start going off instead of it feeling more so stationary and premeditated. I got insight from him that nobody else in the comment section can speak on cause I got information from the source
@Thisuser Onlydrew did you just try to tell this man how he should've reacted to something? Lol it's a reaction bro, not a thesis. You may not like it, but it's his.
Battlefest's format is kinda trash with the hard limits like that. They should at least give it to the end of 4 bars so it's not so fucking jarring and give a few seconds of transition time on the video so it's not so fucking jarring. It's hard to process anything you see.
My opinion on it I feel as though you don’t look at it from a certain perspective. Keep in mind fikshun comes into these battles with just pure freestyle while others come prepared with choreographed routines so of course their rounds would look different from other rounds. You make it seem like these other dancers rounds don’t look the same as well or the material don’t look different 🤷🏾♂️. No hard feelings but fikshun would beat you in a battle especially if it’s just randomized songs based off the material I have seen from you.
@@acedup00 you can tell that he is free styling 🤷🏾♂️ you must don’t dance it’s just that his flow is so good that it seems it’s choreographed and he knows the songs very well

Objectively you might have things like musicality, execution etc
I think throughout all of your rounds you were talking a lot about a particular topic or concept but there was no main idea/thesis/point.
@@metalspalace your said can they both loose!! You really gonna put them both down like that?? Your a troll man, you said arsenal didn't dance didn't move his feet first round?? That blatant arrogance toward Arsenal. Your eyes are lying to you! His feet did move! He did dance on top of a killer puppet concet with crazy visuals and musicality . I wont watch you judge a battle ever again. Simple as that.
I can't believe you still haven't done a
Tight Eyez vs Junior Reaction video :(
It’s easy to tell when these kind of dancers are really dancin. Just wait for the part that’s not as good as the rest of it
Lmfaaaaoo the funniest muh fucka on Facebook blessing the comment section haha
@@metalspalace I agree with u. Have u seen this one? Slim's back! ua-cam.com/video/wCO2_SGPrc8/v-deo.html
@@raphafoukrattou6592 I was with him for this
U really explained the shit perfect. Arsenal had a whole strings on his shit and a whole routine no real dancin, and fik shun just didn’t snap as hard as usual just eh
You should watch arsenal vs x
U wasn't feeling strobe vs X? I thought that was easily the best clash
@@tabhou7988 that was the best battle for me
Damn bro.. they on your coat tails lol... but anyways your opinion is your opinion and everyone is entitled to have one... do ya thing bro
My mans at 3k 🤯
Dope understanding, well said bro,but both are great dancers and like you said fikshun was out of moves due to hectic day but he still stud up to it,also Arsenal was dope and you guess he won
You. Be. HATIN'. Fik got SONNED. Fik nice, but he tends to be VERY one-dimensional. Arsenal was hit and miss in this battle, but it was more than enough to win.
Have you ever seen Courtney, the little 13-year-old girl who sung
Go watch some more battlefest and early 2000s flexn then you’ll understand
Aye Metal if you want I can edit yo vid for you to do the slow mo recap stuff you was talking about for FREE
Bruh. Arsenal popped ALL the way off. You can tell he came super prepared to slice and dice with those concepts.
Fresh on the drop we in here
I totally agree with you bro.
Ars def took this
Arsenal's bois were hyping the shit out of everything even when he was not doing anything lol
nah Arsenal got hype because what he was doing was fire and the crowd felt that too. Fikshun didnt get much hype because his rounds were light compared to his rounds vs CJ and Havoc.
@@user-ln9cz3ld2m i felt like it was less of dance more of a gimmick
I'm with you ... WTF! Dude became (PSYCHO) Arsenal means "SET FIRE" I'm Tickled #Creativity
(He Hungry and came 2 eat) The Struggle is REAL!!! as we say ..."I aint playing witcha" GET IT**
My boi aint waste no time with the review.. Fresh off the upload DAMN!
Fik is a good Dancer but he's not smooth with it bad
Fik-shun is a great dancer but he clearly lost. I know that’s your boy and all but dude lost 3-0. Arsenal went crazy. Everybody agrees with me too just look at the comments under the video. This is the only time I feel like you was bias.
Tf you talkin bout haha. I gave it to FikShun?
I spoke on his round being top tier for what it is and can be everything you said but if I look at it going against other high level battle cats where they just get down I couldn't see that holding up other than for the idea of what he did.
@@Pixel_tutz I Agree to bro.
@Thisuser Onlydrew did you just try to tell this man how he should've reacted to something? Lol it's a reaction bro, not a thesis. You may not like it, but it's his.
@@Clown_Syndrome when your valid then it matters
can u react to koolaid vs geo?
I think maybe because your camera was dying you couldn't focus much on the battle but Arsenal had solid rounds.
Battlefest's format is kinda trash with the hard limits like that. They should at least give it to the end of 4 bars so it's not so fucking jarring and give a few seconds of transition time on the video so it's not so fucking jarring. It's hard to process anything you see.
I can help with the edits for your videos. If you got facebook or something just pm. I can teach for free.
Fikshun is offbeat XD it's a trashhhh
“can they both lose” thank god I didn’t sub to this weirdo
Sorry but I can’t stand these battles there boring
I wouldn't say boring, just too much of imbalance of performing/concept-heavy and set-ups. Is a battle of performance or dancing?
My opinion on it I feel as though you don’t look at it from a certain perspective. Keep in mind fikshun comes into these battles with just pure freestyle while others come prepared with choreographed routines so of course their rounds would look different from other rounds. You make it seem like these other dancers rounds don’t look the same as well or the material don’t look different 🤷🏾♂️. No hard feelings but fikshun would beat you in a battle especially if it’s just randomized songs based off the material I have seen from you.
LOL ok
@@metalspalace Do you have any battles I can watch or anything ? I haven’t heard about you until I searched up reaction videos from the battle fest.
@@acedup00 All of it was free styling if you actually dance you would know it’s freestyle 😂 fikshun himself stated that he freestyles in battle
@@acedup00 yea my guy, fikshun literally calls himself a freestyle dancer my guy lmao
@@acedup00 you can tell that he is free styling 🤷🏾♂️ you must don’t dance it’s just that his flow is so good that it seems it’s choreographed and he knows the songs very well
