NIGHTCRAWLER [S H O R T F I L M]

CONTEXT:
Louis "Lou" Bloom, a mysterious young driven insomniac petty thief, crawls the streets of Los Angeles at night scraping for anything that he can sell to make a living.
Desperate for a better job, one night while driving home, he stumbles upon a fatal car accident whereby police officers were rescuing a woman while two freelance photojournalists were busy recording the scene.
Curious, he asks the photojournalists how they make a living doing what they do and the latter tells him that they sell their footage to local NEWS stations.
At that very moment, this lights up a "fire" inside him and without any second thought, Lou goes on to start his endeavor as a freelance photojournalist.
With very limited resources, he starts videotaping several aftermath events of graphic, violent, and spine-chilling crimes that he manages to sell to a NEWS Station (NKWLA 6).
Awed by his exclusive raw footage, the NEWS Director (Nina Romina) compensates him accordingly and takes interest in his work and his devotion to going to extreme extend to capture the darkest moments.
As things start clicking for him, Lou hires an assistant, Rick, a young homeless man desperate for money, and also invests in better equipment as well as a faster car.
Later one night, upon receiving a red code signal on the radio scanner, they both darted to the site of a triple-homicide home invasion in Granada Hills before the police. Blinded by his passion, Lou deludes himself and starts tampering with evidence for the sake of maximizing the story's impact.
That night, Lou and Rick track down the killers, follow them to a more crowded public area, call the police and then record the whole ensuing confrontation.
With Lou in possession of the entire gruesome footage, this drew a lot of interest from the NEWS Station but predominantly from the Police Detectives.
Being in hot water, Lou fabricates a story about the men in the SUV following him instead. Police try to confiscate his footage as evidence but the NEWS Director, Nina proceeds to air it immediately.
In the end, the nightcrawler walks out of the Police Station as a freeman and goes on to start a new endeavor; his own video production Company.
