Daren Hayes was my world when I was a teenager his music was the only thing in my life the only place I could go to, to escape my toxic home and people. And also I learned English with his music. Thank you Darren for being you and an inspiration for so many
I love Savage Garden..even loved the fact their name came from an Anne Rice novel...huge fan of hers. But when he released The Tension and The Spark I shook my head with disbelief...how could someone Ive never met write these songs that parallel my life. Any way...lol...love Darren...before and after the group. Truly an amazing song writer, singer, artist. Much love to you both!
P.S. Darren...the lyrics...the poetry of your songs create an indelible bond with the people they touch...speak to. Once youve touched people in that meaningful way they carry you in their(our) hearts.

What a special conversation! Been a huge fan of SG and DH since the late 90s, but this is the first time for me seeing him getting so personal and so deep on life experience and philosophy. He had completely changed my views on homosexuality. It’s been an incredibly enlightening and joyful 2.5 hrs. “You can still be free” and “I just want you to love me” are my favorite. THIS WORLD NEEDS MUSIC FROM HIM ♥️

I have loved him growing up since savage garden started and through his solo career. Even my daughter now and I sing along to his songs n the car still. He is an amazing singer and an amazingly kind, honest and genuine human being 🥰. He needs to tour over here in the UK that would be phenomenal 🎉

Darren Hayes is one of my fav voices from growing up, absolute talent. One of the songs from his career I cannot stop listening to and to this day still love more so now than then is You Can Still Be Free from the Affirmation album. Savage Garden were one of my fav bands, never got to see them live though. Really enjoyed hearing him talk about his life so honestly and just saw the love of music from him. Amazing talent.

What a brilliant show, I really enjoyed this so thank you! I absolutely adore Darren Hayes, he is such a talented, honest, gentle, decent man. The fact that he is externally very beautiful is just the icing on an already fabulous cake. I will never be lucky enough to meet him, which is fortuitous for him because I would be a gibbering idiot and pee my pants. Darren can thank the universe that he will never have to suffer that. Anyway, there was a hint that he may return to performing live music which would be wonderful. I'll be at the front of the queue for tickets. I’ve recently gotten interested in him,
despite listening to Savage Garden and hearing songs by him when I was a kid.
He stops me from
hurting myself these days.
I struggle with self injury.
I struggle with gender issues. He makes my gender issues go away.
I’m a Gay Transgender Male… I felt this way since before I was 19 years old back in 2013 in March.
I’m am thankful for Darren.
He even gives me butterflies inside my stomach. 🦋

Iv seen darren perform live twice in dublin(Ireland).For me still the best vocalist iv ever heard live and I go to a lot of shows.Been a fan since the beginning and my favourite songs are "affirmation" and "bloodstained heart" and if I'm picking a slow song "2 beds and a coffee machine" is a masterpiece.hopefully the hinting towards the end means possibility of future album/shows.

Thank you for doing this interview. I loved every minute of it. Darren Hayes has been one of my favorite vocalists since Savage Garden. I followed his solo career as well. I am so sad I was never able to make it to a live show, but I still have all of his CDs and listen to his music often. Some of my favorites are "Roses", "I Just Want You To Love Me" and "Crash and Burn". So much of his music has helped me through a lot in my life and I will forever be a fan of his work. He seems like such a gem to talk to.

I so appreciate you sharing this much of yourself with fans, Darren. I’ve had your songs on rotation from the first SG album when I was still a teen, all the way through your (comparatively) recent releases, all of them regulars blasting from the speakers in my home and car. You’re one of the few artists I know of whose solo albums all topped the previous ones and had me shouting, “No, THIS is his best ever!” The tracks from This Delicate Thing and Secret Codes get the most play at my house, but as I’m typing this, I have Affirmation on. Seeing the “dodgy Australian version” music video for I Want You was the most hilariously 90s thing I’ve seen in ages! Absolutely fantastic to see it for the first time in 2021. I hope we’ll hear more music from you sometime soon, and of course I hope someone produces your musical so we can all enjoy it!

It's great to see him again. Thank you. Favourite song from Savage Garden "Affirmation", favourite songs from Darren : "Darkness" and "Who Would Have Thought". I saw Savage Garden live in the 90's. I loved his music so much, I was a little bit sad when he became a stand up comedian just because it's a huge loss for pop music. He's one of the greatest voices if not the greatest voice out there. It brings me chills everytime I hear him sing. I hope he will produce music again 'cos his 3 last albums were all masterpieces.

Hi Sarah, what I like about you as an interviewer is that you give the Artist a chance to speak without interrupting. I don't post comments very often and I mean that but this was a great interview. When Darren spoke about his father and the Artists he was inspired by, it Truly, Madly, Deeply hit home with me because I had the same experiences with my father and I also loved MJ the great Micheal Jackson and to this day I'm still made fun of because I loved and still love MJ. Thank you for this video. I have been a fan of DH since I was a kid and SG was actually my first concert ever. With all the stressors and the panoramic of 2020, I have revisited the first SG album. The music has been a light in these dark times. Listening to this album as an adult, the lyrics have resonated with me on a more deeper level. I would love to have Darren tour once things get better

Love you guys and definitely as a American 911 was just sooo horrible to see and know that people had to choose how to die weather to burn or fall high it was sop devastating. we will never forget and the world will never forget what took place on 911. love you darren Hayes and sarah o connell.

I am sooooo in love with Darren’s soul. He is not just a handsome man but, an absolutely honest,, open, vulnerable soul and you can see and hear everything coming from his heart…it is so refreshing to truly sit and listen, hear, appreciate and, absorb to love of another human being. I was IN LUUUUV with Savage Garden the first time I heard anything of theirs here in the states. It was ‘Truly, Madly, Deeply’. Who wouldn’t want someone to feel that way about them😍❣️❣️. I remember when and where I was working at the time. I am an artist by nature, with my hands and different mediums and music runs through the bloodline of my family. I was a professional dancer in my younger days and LOVED choreographing. I immediately ran out after work and bought the ‘best of’ CD because I wanted to hear more and see what I could come up with, choreography wise, to ALLL the songs. When I went back to work the following day, I played that CD non-stop and it became my ‘go to’ in my sadness. Everyone else who heard it the first time said, “Mary, WHO IS that ??!!! and where can I get that CD?”, because it was difficult to find in the little town I was in at the time. It also became the ONLY requested music I had by my co-workers🥰. My daughters, now grown, still love ‘Animals’ and know, and can actually sing, the words to ‘chic a cherry cola’😉.
I am thankful for this long interview and getting to learn more about one of my ‘young crushes’ LOL. I just happened to post ‘Affirmations’ yesterday to my page because it is still so relevant today and, I believe, will be, for years to come. This country has a LOT of healing to do and it starts with acceptance and kindness. Thank you, Sarah and, Darren, for sharing such heartfelt parts off yourselves. Darren, keep shining that beautiful light of yours, you are truly a light that goes beyond the stars🌟💫.

Has to be Insatiable and I have been fortunate to see Darren perform live three times. one of the venues was so small it was like listening and watching him sing in your living room at home amazing experience! I often play his music in the car to my three-year-old granddaughter!
