I think Slow is very underrated. For a level 3 spell, you can pick 6 targets to cripple. They lose half their move speed, so melee targets potentially lose half their turns (also this negates Grym's Honor bonus, making it much easier to get him in place for the hammer). They can also only attack one time, so melee enemies lose any extra attacks. They only get either an action or bonus action, so a lot of enemies will just jump somewhere and end their turn. Going along with it, the Heightened Spell Metamagic from Sorcerer is also underrated. It gives disadvantage on saving throws against any spell - to all targets, no matter how many. That's generally about 25-30% extra success chance. Not just for Slow, but for Hold spells, Dominate Person, etc.
I had a thought. If instead of a Drow. You make a human that looks like his face is burnt with Janath's hat. This build could work for Freddy Kruger with a few levels of monk and vicious mockery. [Especially because of his one liners]
Looking at this build, I wonder if there is a Pied Piper type build. Basically a bard who uses a flute to summon or gain control of enemies or something like that. I think that would be sick.
The Cherished Staff of Necromancy seems like a good pick for a off hand weapon due to how many necromancy spells you're going to use, while also getting 1+ AC from the Dual Wielder trait. Excellent build I think i'll try it on my next Durge playthrough!
Damn Hobo, you outdid yourself with this one! Although I have one suggestion - if you can fit hold person/monster into this, you could RP it as sleep paralysis - which I think would fit the build perfectly.
I created a sleep build by accident and by coincidence I also play with dark urge. When I got the Dolor Amarus Items from the Bhaal Vendor I realized how OP Sleep actually is. First I used paralyse to trigger auto crits. But then I figured, the first hit on a sleeping hit is also auto crit which just opened my mind. At that point I was a Palasorc, what is amazing about the Paladin is, his bane skills do charisma dmg and will autotrigger on crit. So basically if you hit a sleeping target everything is oneshot. Even without the Dolor Amarus Items. But what is especially insane is scorching ray spell or two daggers and 2 levels of paladin. The paladin will also autoconsume the spellslots. I think the Bard is better but the sorc can quicken their speels, make the DC more difficult to resist and also adds charisma modifier on your attack rolls of spells of your chosen draconic element. So if you have a sorcerer with something like fire dragon inheritage, all your sorching rays will do additional charisma dmg on each hit and will also trigger crit hits. What I didnt try out yet, is what happens if you have something like cleave attack, if it also triggers paladins "Fatality" multiple times. But a Sleep build actually goes OP very early on. You only need The "Glyph" magic spell. It is crazy. You can place it on the ground and if there are enemies already it will instantly trigger. The good thing is, you can chose a sleep trap with your glyph. The sleep spell wont require concentration checks and it always stays for two turns, unless you are sorc and increase the duration. What is special about, it is an AOE, no concentration, NO HP LIMITS. Just straight 2 rounds sleep. Because everything is Oneshot it is completely broken. You can also distribute Dolor Amarus Items along your party, so if everyone has at least one item of it, each hit will trigger the additional damage. If you cast a spell with multiple hits, it will also be triggered multiple times. This allows a variety of builds for your whole group where everyone benefits from it. E.G: Main: Sleep Spellcaster with two daggers, Comp1: Scorching Ray build ,Comp2, Magic Missile build, Comp3: Some Paladin multiclass. And so on. It is just easy mode.
Sleep works the way it does because it's one of the oldest spells in D&D, probably right next to Fireball. It's why elves don't sleep and are immune to the spell, because that was part of the meta back then. In AD&D, rolling dice and it giving you a HP total of monsters you could affect was how a few spells and targeting worked.
Thematically it would be great for Astarion.Luring people to sleep near/with him only to feed on them once they're asleep. After all isn't it exactly what he's doing to tav?
As a person who's had insomnia for as long as I can remember, your justification for Confusion is EVIL. I love it XD Dark Urge torture technique. You're tired? No sleep for you. Suffer in insomnia while I torture you for my daddy. These builds are so cool XD
I’ve been sitting here thinking about making a character inspired by Banshee/siryn from marvel/X-men or black canary from dc comics. This build kinda fits, just need to trade out a few sleep themed spells for what I could head canon as sonic attacks, like thunderwave, shatter, silence, etc and it might work. Thank you.
I can’t remember if I brought this up before so I apologize if I have. But I thought of a build concept! I’ve thought of it a couple times but have never gotten around to it. Thought I’d jot it down here. This concept involves the weapon that drops from the head gnoll in act 1, iirc it’s a flail? and the ring that makes you rise after being downed but you are cursed. It’s madness! MADNESS I SAY!
Hey hobo. Random build idea. If you want I can try to put it in the discord but discord isn’t working for me right now. So the build idea is like a storm of necromancy and poison and stuff. Like a storm of death kinda. It would mainly focus on storm sorcerer but maybe would have some necromancy wizard levels in there. It would use spells like cloud kill and circle of death for the kinda storm feel. Disintegrate would be cool and it would act as a kinda thunder. Storm sorcerer’s heart if the storm would also be cool because it creates a small storm that as a head cannon would be poison. OOOO LIKE ACID RAIN!
Coming to this way after the fact haha but for a non Dark Urge version of this, is there another armor you would recommend in place of the Bhaalist Armour, or would you just stick with studded leather +1 throughout?
Oh, that's why I thought sleep was useless. I thought it was MAX HP adding up, I didn't know it was remaining HP 😅. I've refused to use sleep because I thought it did what it doesn't actually do, but I still find it hard to use cause my characters crit/kill at random and usually unexpected times. Tactician or honor mode are probably the best difficulties to use sleep to always use it. And in story and balanced difficulties it often feels useless in Act 1 cause things often die too quickly to bother
My main problem when I think about playing a build like this is I don’t know how well it would work in boss fights like Raphael or the Dragons. I feel like builds like this are really fun in fights where you are fighting normal enemies like goblins but when you are fighting bosses it would probably be almost completely useless. So if anyone has tried a build like this one out and have used it against bosses could you tell me how well it worked please?
Dissonant Whispers, sleep spells, Sir this is an ASMR build 😄
Im about to become this games worst nightmare. The lullaby of Bhaal
I like to imagine the lullaby of Bhaal is Bodies by Drowning Pool but whispered gently.
wait... YOU WHISTLE AS A BARD when you're instrument isn't equipped? Dude, its been a year and I'm still learning new things about this game
Crown of madness = Night Terrors
Hold person = sleep paralysis
The Eepy Urge:
"Long rest? No guys, it'll be just a short nap, trust me!"

I love that soft and sweet murder vibes on the Durge
La petite mort
Always wanted to make a pc dream assassin that uses dream to eliminate there target with nightmares
You ever think about a volo build? In bg3 he’d be an obvious bard but his dnd lore might throw in some wizard or wild magic sorcerer
Hypnotic Pattern seems like a good fit

The amount of times that you had to clarify that this is NOT a Bill Cosby build. Lmao

Actchually, colour spray also has a hit point treshhold

PS, sending positivity your way ❤
I'm definitely pairing this with my Honour Mode roguelock Tav.
What a very cool idea! I’ll definitely be using this in muiltpayer dark urge play through
Sleep is a useful cc from spells like glyph of warding and others. The downside is that they wake up the moment you do damage to them.

Surprised you didn't go half orc for the delicious crits.
Love this idea! By the way, what is the background music? It makes me think of a song from Bloodborne
Yeah it's the wet nurse theme
Coming to this way after the fact haha but for a non Dark Urge version of this, is there another armor you would recommend in place of the Bhaalist Armour, or would you just stick with studded leather +1 throughout?
Elegant Studded Leather would be good.
I want make charismatic pirate style build which background you suggested?😅

Could this build be used in honor mode? If so how’s the best way to do that?
Can You make a best archer build 🙂 ?
Bill Cosby approves of this build
Rwby vale of darkness 2: inescapable fate

I don't think this what they meant. A sleeper build.
What mod do you use to change the Level Up screen? Present at 0:14
It's more of a bug that comes up from my mod list. Not sure what causes it.
