I saw John Daly at the PGA championship at Sahalee near Seattle. during a practice round he pushed his drive into the woods, looked over and saw a kid watching walked over signed the driver and gave it to him. He said " here kid I can't hit this club maybe you can. The kids eyes were as big as Frisbee's. I have seen him a few times at tournaments and he is a gentleman around kids very genuine I will always root for him
Shame the guy didn’t ever go get his childhood traumas sorted out… instead he’s formed these self sabotaging habits of absolutely obliterating his gifted body.. bloke was given a good functioning body but absolutely takes the piss with it. Drinks till he drowns, eats chocolate and doesn’t drink water etc.. blokes going for an early grave. Nothing more too it’s, his spirit is strong and what an exceptional human but still, doesn’t need to destroy the body he was gifted, some people would kill for a functioning one like his.

I live at Lake of the Woods where John grew up. He won the Men’s Golf Tournament at age 13! The old guys were so pissed, they passed a rule that you had to be 18 to play in the tournament the following year! I remember seeing him chipping and puttying all the time. Tremendous golfer! I remember watching a playoff between him and Tiger Woods on live TV. That was an EPIC golf battle!
I met John Daly when he was selling merch down at the Masters in 2010. He gave two girls a tour of his bus. They came out saying it smelled like farts and cigarettes. I thought that is the perfect way to sum up John Daly. I can't forget it.
John is just one of those characters you have to love. He's also got a heart of gold. He hit 1 young spectator with his ball at the then Perth Heineken classic. After the game, he bought the kid a brand new set of Calloway clubs and bag. He lived our meat pies as well hahaha

The guy would turn up half drunk for a tournament after an all nighter and win then on another day start to shake uncontrollably cry and break down live at a competition struggling to battle alcoholism. John Daly is a good dude. I was working security for a celebrity pro-am for Natalie Gulbis back in 05' or 06' in Fresno. And John was there in full "Daly" form. He drank 6 beers before he left to start the round but before he left he took off his shoes signed them and donated them to a charity auction. He played the whole round barefoot!!! So he drank 6 beers before he left, and took 6 with him, we sent 6 beers out to hole 3, another 6 beers out to hole 6, and by hole 9 we sent out 6 diet cokes. And when it was over Natalie Gulbis left her shoes behind so I had one of my workers take them out and give them to John because he was going to meet up with her later. But before he was given the shoes my worker found John between 2 cars taking a piss before he got on his bus. And when we left at the end of the day the parking lot was empty and we could see the piss stream and it was at least 50' to 75' ft long. It zigzaged and made its way to the drain. Longest continual piss stream I've ever seen. 😆😂🤘
I saw John Daley at the 1992 Canadian Open. My father and I watched him tee off on a par 5 and it was hard to tell how much farther he would hit the ball than the other golfers but I will say the height of the ball was way higher than anyone else.

The backswing is definitely helped by genetics. Im a chiropractor and treat amateur golfers. The thoracic rotation Daly gets for his backswing is just insane. We have 12 ribs that reduce our rotation, and usually people rotate more at the thoracolumbar junction. Daly has an incredible range of motion in his thoracic spine.

As someone who played college golf, John Daly is an athletic legend. More natural talent for golf than anyone who has ever played. The guy would party, smoke, drink, gamble, never train, never practice, then show up hungover with no sleep, then not only make it to the pros, but win majors. It would have been impressive to just make the tour at all in his lifestyle, but he won the highest possible honors.

I saw him in Biloxi summer of ‘22 and he sucked. I had to walk out and wasn’t the only one. Such a disappointment. He claimed he was sober then and was only drinking tea out of his glass. I’m all for sobriety but clearly his drinking had a positive influence on his comedy because that version of him was not funny and his material was not good. One joke was about a tooth implant that fell in the toilet so he had it put back in his mouth and the punchline was “shit eating grin.” 🙄 Yay, I paid to see Ron White do poop jokes. At one point he snapped on a guy in the front row who was talking I guess and he didn’t even make that funny it was just awkward.
My brother and I were playing a round at Cabo Del Sol in Mexico circa 1998. We'd just finished and were blasting up the outskirts of a fairway just making a weirdly long trip to the clubhouse/bar. We are rolling past some semi portly dude in all pastels. He turns as we get close and says "Amigos, how bout a lift for a lost stranger?" It is fucking John Daly. I was not then, nor am I now, a major PGA or even golfing fan or player, but my brother didn't miss a beat. He wanted to buy JD lunch, but he took a "raincheck" and jumped off at the hotel path. Cool guy.

Was at Pinehurst 97 and was campin a tee box. Every golfer came up teed the ball up measured up the shot took some practice swings blah blah. Not Daly. Walks up with a cigarette in his mouth teed ball up, hit the ball, and keep walking down the fairway without taking a pause. Was like one fluid motion. Coolest fkn thing I’ve seen and I still remember it all these years 😎
Years ago I saw John barefoot nail like a 35 yard field goal at a high school or college practice. The coach said if he makes this kick practice is over. John nailed it. I can't find the film.
Daly is the classic case of what could've been. Extreme talent and little work ethic mixed with alcoholism and he still won multiple majors and other tournaments. He's crazy entertaining though.

Holy crap, Ron White quite drinking? I thought I felt the world tip off it's axis! I quit over twenty years ago and it was just amazing to me how many of my so called "friends" stopped calling and hanging out with me. He was the first pro i ever seen hit a shot, he was buried in the rough and smashed it up on the green. I was amazed at his power he loved lynx.
He has the most God-given ability of any golfer ever. He doesn't hit hundreds of balls like most on the PGA tour. He just plays and does very well.

Was at Pinehurst 97 and was campin a tee box. Every golfer came up teed the ball up measured up the shot took some practice swings blah blah.
Not Daly. Walks up with a cigarette in his mouth teed ball up, hit the ball, and keep walking down the fairway without taking a pause. Was like one fluid motion. Coolest fkn thing I’ve seen and I still remember it all these years 😎

Years ago I saw John barefoot nail like a 35 yard field goal at a high school or college practice. The coach said if he makes this kick practice is over. John nailed it. I can't find the film.
Daly is the classic case of what could've been. Extreme talent and little work ethic mixed with alcoholism and he still won multiple majors and other tournaments. He's crazy entertaining though.

Picture you being in a McDonald’s at 1:30 am and a drunk kid comes up to you while holding two large drinks and him saying, “I have to shake your hand sir” while being John wearing a $50,000 Rolex. I was that kid and he put both drinks down, shook my hand, and gave me an autograph. He’s the absolute best!!!

John Daly was at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs once, i went to try and get a view of him since the course has a public road splitting the south and north 9s respectively. Saw him on the north end about to cross the road to the south. Had to have a DD to cross the road because he had run the north end dry of beers and he would have had to drive on a legal road for 3 seconds.

My dad had basically the same on course diet. Lots of cokes (doesn’t like water) and lots cigs. Then in October he had a massive heart attack, diagnosed with diabetes, etc. Had a quad bypass. Hasn’t touched a cig or soda since

Why are they laughing at making your own chocolate milk with Hershey's syrup? I thought that is what Chocolate milk was.
Here over in Europe I only made chocolate milk with coccoa powder no syrup.
