Love your channel! I'm a palm tree junkie too! I live in Fairfield, California and I have three palms: two Phoenix Roebelenii and a Phoenix Canariensis. All are potted. When I FINALLY get a house after I make my move to Las Vegas, the plan is to plant a Washingtonia Robusta. The other three will be planted as well. I love palms. Truly unique plants!
I know I already made a Mexican Fan Palm video, but the palm in my other video had an issue and I had to get a different one, but I also wanted my video to be on the palm that I will actually plant in the ground so I can document its growth over time. I also didn't like my other video as much so I decided to just make a whole new one. Thanks for watching! More videos are coming soon.
I just bought two of the hybrids, Washingtonia Filibusta from HD for $20 each. What a deal!! These hybrids are listed as hardy to 10⁰ F. I will still protect it the first year until it establishes good. Mine look a lot like your Robusta. Beautiful palms. Be careful of the thorns though!
You're going to be amazed at how fast that grows this year if you put t in the ground! Weekly fish fertilizer and miracle grow in a 2 gallon watering can. You won't regret that!
@@wzupppp it’s already in the ground, but this is a very common palm, if you just look it up on the internet I’m sure you could order seeds or seedlings for a very cheap price online.
Got the Washington 2 species cross from seed .grower said hardy to zone 6. Gonna plant 3 year old seedlings season 2023. Gonna protect cover and put by house more warmer and drier in winter zone 7 border
Nice stuff man, I got one myself a while about 2 weeks. Made the mistake of sticking em right in the sun after transplanting to another pot. So it ain't looking great lol. But seems to be pushing since I marked it and cut all but 1 frond. Subbed to you as well 🤙🏼
15 degrees will completely fry these palms endless you live in a very dry winter climate, these palms will start to show some damage below about 23 but it isn’t significant, I had one in the ground years ago that died from 18 degrees
I am waiting for spring, we were doing a lot of work in the back yard all summer (replacing deck, moving things, etc.) and I didn’t want to plant it somewhere because I was unsure of what areas would be used for other things beside plants.

Orion thank you! You’re in a nice palm growing area! Robustas are a common yet really cool palm in my opinion.
LOVE THAT LITTLE PALM TREE
You did such a wonderful job explaining all of this. Thank you so much!
Thanks for watching!

Awesome, I love them too!
Did you get that from nicks?

Be careful of the thorns though!
They're definitely not hardy to 10°F. Its generally agreed upon that the trunks of Washingtonias are hardy to 18°F and the leaves to 24°F.
Nice video. Am currently trying to make a list of the plants in my garden and wanted to confirm this one
That’s a beautiful Palm tree 🌴.
Thank you for the very informative video ♥️
Beautiful looking palm 😍👍.
The Washy looks great! Great channel 👍
Thank you!
Palm kipas
Fan palm....
On the pot, nice ❤️❤️❤️
That’s cool!
Right on, put it in the ground! I've got a few growing in pots that I'll put in the ground here shortly.
I hope they do great for you!

Thanks for the advice I’ll definitely make sure it gets that! I love your videos by the way!
That washy brought the beef! Lol looks great man
Thank you! I got the one with the biggest trunk on it that was at the store.
Have you made a video of how you protect it during the winter? Also, what zone are you in?
@@LemonDropYum Not yet, I’m unsure of whether or not I’ll protect this one. I’m in zone 7b.
Will it survive in a suitcase? I want to take it to Africa. I cant buy it there in my country. And can I cut the leaves?

My favorite tree is palm trees
Me too! Thanks for watching.
My favorite tree is a money tree. I just wish I could find one.

Did they survive? I used to be in zone 7b but now they have me listed in 8a since the rezoning
they are also recognisable by the fibre strings on their leaves.
How tall does it get
In good conditions easily around 40ish feet over many years.

Thanks man! Yours should grow out of it fast!
Everything ive read is these dont need protecting from winter unless you get below 15 degrees.

My Washingtonian Robusta grows slow, why is that?
That could be due to a number of factors. Is it in a cool area? Is it in a pot?
@@palmtreedude i live in Charlotte NC, mild winters, nd yea its in a plastic pot
@@adultcartoonsandcereal15 It’s probably because it’s in a pot, I would give it a tiny bit of fertilizer when it warms up.
My life.
Did you end up planting it or are you waiting until spring? Cheers 👍

@@palmtreedude Great! I just did a video on one that I'll be planting in spring also! Cheers 👍
How old is that palm
This one is probably about a year and a half old from seed based on their growth rate.
Nobody ever talks about the soil they use
@@davidmorales8644 they like faster draining loamy soil, as long as they are not in muck that is always soggy they should do fine.
Great specimen, too tender without protection in the U.K.
