Like I promised on my last comment to update after the job....I did replace both headlights and works like a charm! Instead of paying ford $1500, I managed to do it myself with a total cost of $120 for the HID bulbs. Thank you so much for spreading the knowledge!
This is so awesome!!! Nice work taking it all apart and well done saving the cash! Bet you could do it faster next time if you needed to! This is what the channel was made for :) congrats on the win!

Awesome video and explanation. I'm a fan of your channel. Love that its straight forward and no distracting music or background noise. I'll be using this information to remove and replace my sons bumper cover.
This is one of the best videos on the subject that I have seen. Very well done sir. I am goi g to use it to try and replace some bulbs on my 2014 escape that Ford wants a ton of $$$ to do. Have to say that Ford has made the process of changing a few bulbs unnecessarily complex!
I really appreciate your effort and excellent work. Even though I am following subscribed Chilton DIY repair manual, watching you do it gave me more confidence that I will be able to do this. Ford wants $1500 to replace the HID headlights! If it takes me the whole day to do it, I still come out a winner. I will let you know, and thanks for the extra tips!
Wow! Thank you for this comment and for the feedback- I do not have HIDs on my SE ...but we do have our headlamp removal video on this channel including all these steps (jack stands, bumper removal, headlamp removal). The HID headlamps should attach the same way the Halogens do I believe. Are you changing the whole housings?
I am just changing the bulb, but the HID is impossible to change without removing the housing. The bulbs are screwed in the housing believe it or not! I see some guys taking a short cut but I'd rather take the time and do it the right way!
Thanks for this video! A squirrel chewed off my turn signal and this video made it easy to get the bumper off to access the wiring. I don't normally do car repairs but I am otherwise pretty handy and this was just what I needed to feel confident enough to give it a try. I have a 2016 Escape and there were only minor differences.
At 6:50 the bumper cover wiring harness plug is fastened to the frame. Reach in, push the connector forward and the plug will come loose and it will be easier to work with. There is a small plastic retaining clip that must be pulled toward the rear of the plug. Once removed, the plug can be wiggled apart. I dropped the left fender shield down to gain access with both hands to this plug. Thanks for the video. This us a pain in the butt operation, but necessary if you have to replace the headlamp housings!
Awesome! Hope it's helpful for you- please let us know if you have any other questions on it- I appreciate your comment and taking the time to say something :)
Great video. Guess I have to go through all of this to replace my front undertray 😝😅 Edit: I did the removal. I found that those 14 7mm bolts underneath are not neccessary to remove. They are for fastening the undertray to the bumper. I also had to remove the washers for my headlights. All in all, a great video😎👍
Great video, it absolutely helped me to change my bumper. The only issue I am having is the 3 xt20 Torx screws holes from the new bumper bottom piece don't align with the red rubber pieces. Even after pushing the pumper all the way, I am looking to drill into the new plastic so I can put the 3 screws and the rest screws for the splash shield. Thank You for the video
Hey Carlos- thanks for taking the time to leave feedback- I really appreciate it. Are those torx screws still giving you difficulty? Your plan makes sense if so- I appreciate you taking time to say something! Please let me know if there's anything we can maybe help with in the future!
0:17 That small black triangle bumper grille piece on the driver's side that's just above the fog light, do you need to remove the bumper to replace that, or can you do it from the front? Mine is cracked and I ordered a replacement.
Great videos!!! Have watched almost all of them!!! Do you have a how to video for removing the back bumper as well?!? I can't seem to locate one (even inside of another one)!!
7:46 . Hi, I've seen many of your videos and they've been very helpful, thank you. This time I realized that my Escape doesn't have the piece that covers the Impact Bar. I've tried to look for it, but I can't find it anywhere. Do you know what it's called? What name or part number can I find it under?
I'm having a "parking aid fault" pop up on my escape. I've read it's because the wiring harness could be crimped after bumper was removed to replace the drivers side low beam. Do I need to do this to get to harness? If so thanks a ton! Not so scary after watching you video!!!
What’s about all the lights that are connected to the bumper? Or is that just on the titanium trim? My wife’s whole lower brace is rusted 💯 and the front is sagging ! 🤣 water just sits up in there horrible design on that area !! Thanks
Hey James, you're talking about the lower parking/running/fog lights, right? Those are all mounted to the bumper as you say, and you disconnect the wire harnesses before removing the bumper fully, and then you can access the lamp housings and bulbs once the bumper is off. It is a pretty dumb thing, really. You CAN get to the lamps/housings with the bumper on, but unless you have spindly arms, you're likely going to get shredded by the metal clips on the plastic fender liners and such to reach in through the wheel wells. Sorry your vehicle is rusting like that- we haven't seen that on our'13, but we're also in the mid atlantic on the east coast, so not a heavy rust area.
FYI, at 3:31 you state yo remove all the 7mm bolts along the bottom. This is not necessary. Those 7mm bolts hold the center silver skid cover to the lower portion of the bumper cover. They can be removed from the car as one piece.
My wife hit a deer and something jarred loose. I replaced both turn signal bulbs and confirmed that both bulb housing are good. The driver side turn signal works fine and the passenger side works sporadically. What would you recommend? Should I just start fresh with a new wiring harness or splice/replace the passenger side wiring only? Any videos on this exact issue by chance?
@how to escape: diy, tips, and reviews By removing the bumper - is there complete access to change the MAP sensor on the intercooler? 2013 Escape, 2.0l. It seems like only Tinker Bell can change it out.
One important thing to do if you removed the front cover bumper, is to clean behind the intercooler. The space between radiator and intercooler, it's a place that easily fills with debris, plastic, dead insects, and everything you can imagine. So, it's important to keep clean that area.
Hey there Robert- sorry for the delay here. That's a great point. I didn't even think to check that while we were in there when making this video. Thanks for the suggestion to include this!
Well you have the exterior bumper cover that is the cosmetic panel shown- then you have your actual bumper that is connected to your frame and that is structural. If the structural bumper is damaged, it doesn't matter what the bumper cover looks like.... your car could suffer a whole lot worse if you ignore a structural issue and have a collision in that spot again. Not sure if this is what you were asking though - please let me know and thanks!

@@keith1008 yes- an Amazon version of the exterior cover should install just fine. I'd recommend checking the reviews to check on fitment feedback if you dont recognize the seller. Also could be good to double check it is compatible with any parking sensors, hitch, etc if you haven't already done that. Thanks for clarifying. Hey again- yes that is definitely an option. It's not as silly as one would think considering the time to get the bumper off. Some people can find a way to cheat a bit and just undo one end of the bumper and lift it up and get to that lower bolt but it may also be the case that it takes just as much time to fight it for a "short cut" as to just do it the whole way through. I think depending on your paint job if you did want to drill a small 3/8 hole, you may be able to get the bolt loose, but I'm not sure how you'd get the bolt back in when reinstalling the light assembly as you'd just have a thru hole and no access to hold the bolt. You know what I mean?
Looked into this when my bumper was off. Answer. Not really as the bumper is double skinned with mouldings on the inside. If you made a hole big enough,it would be weakened..
@@motofrog thank you so much. I was looking in the engine compartment and it looks like you “might” be able to remove the bolt from the inside. Not a lot of room, but there is space between the head and the fender. Thanks for taking time to look and respond !!! Have a great day.
