For the record, not all the Metrolink routes over former heavy rail routes used alignments that were disused at the time of transfer. The Bury and Altrincham lines were both converted from fairly well used electric suburban railways, and the line to Rochdale via Oldham replaced a suburban service with diesel units.

The cornbrook line has now been extended to Deansgate/ Castlefield so you don’t have to changeover at cornbrook to go in to the city.
