      I am here on holiday and did not understand the contact free option. I touched in with a credit card on Sunday 20/3. Then purchased a day ticket at the machine. I did not therefore touch out. Will I be charged for both? Thank you for the video.

      @@laurengelman6730 I think you may be charged a set amount although I did that in London once, I had another ticket already which I used to get back on the overground train, and was not charged. Hopefully you will only get charged for the day ticket.

      Hello, I've just checked and if you tap on but don't tap off, you will pay an "incomplete journey fare" of £4.60, which I unfortunately believe means you may be charged for both. I'd check your bank account though to see if that's the case, and I'm sorry to hear that you had a tricky time with the system.

    if there's a station with 2 zones, you use the zone that is closer to the city centre as your start/finish point if you are heading in that direction, or the zone furthest away from the centre if you are travelling away from it. For example, whitefield tram stop borders zones 3/4. if you are heading towards the city centre, your ticket only has to cover zones 1, 2 and 3. if you are heading to bury, then your ticket only needs to cover zone 4. hope this helps

    Thanks for the video. Four questions
    1-The maximum charge with a contactless card is £4.9 ? I mean, is like London?, that if you do a lot of trips on the same day has a maximum of charge to your credit card.
    2-The Metrolink has not names , like "MetroLink A" ó numbers from what i see on the map route. The Trams are associated with the colours of the map?
    3-Talking about the "Free Bus" , do i need a card to use that bus or do I simply get on at a bus stop without paying and that's it?
    4-From what i see, is cheaper to go to the Airport by train, is that correct?
    Thanks in advance

Forgive me if I've missed something, but how does the tram know that you have paid? We saw you use a machine to buy tickets, but when you board the tram who / what checks your tickets to make sure you have paid? Can you explain in a little more detail how this part works? • @rhi-defined
      @rhi-defined  11 місяців тому

      Thank you :) if you get the tram from Picaddily, you want to get the blue line towards Eccles. That will take you straight to MediaCityUK, and will take about 25 minutes. Then from there it's a short 6 or 7 minute walk to IWM. Alternatively you could go to the IWM tram stop, but you would need to switch trams at Deansgate-Castlefield and hop onto the red line towards the trafford centre. Hope this helps :)

    Do we need to validate a ticket when using tram or bus...?

    • @rhi-defined
      @rhi-defined  3 роки тому +2

      Hello :) when using the tram, there may be a ticket inspector aboard requesting to see your paper ticket for proof of payment. When tapping in or out with a card or contactless device however, you wont get a paper ticket. I do believe that the ticket inspectors can run a check on the card or contactless device you used, to check that you tapped in correctly. As for buses, you can pay aboard using cash or contactless card, and you will get a reciept for any inspections or returns. There are also many kinds of travel cards that you can use for the buses, so if you're looking for that kind of thing, I would check this website for more details: tfgm.com/tickets-and-passes/where-to-buy-bus-tickets

    • @blotski

      @@rhi-defined I can confirm that if you tap in with a debit/credit card and ticket inspectors do a check, you give them the card you used and they can put it against their devices and check it's been used to tap in. I always wondered about this until it happened to me.

    The Manchester Metro is the worst public transportation system in the whole world. If you want to travel across or within Manchester City Centre then it is easier and quicker to walk. At most stations the arrival display is not visible unless you stand directly underneath it as it is obscured by the roof of the shelter canopies. If there are any engineering works, signage for alternative routes will not exist or be totally confusing. Andy Burnham - any answers to my points?
