    That is a very cool looking net. I swear UA-cam is in my brain I've been looking into building nets hear lately.

      We there sure is worse things to be on the brain! I 100% say give net building a shot. It’s a fun, relaxing (unless the hoops decide to snap 🤣) thing to do that is absolutely a statement piece about you as a person who loves to fish. Give it a shot and share your project with me on Instagram and I’ll try and highlight it in a future video!

      @@RiverbendWoodworks haha for sure man I will do that for sure. I'm a carpenter by trade! I've been building fly tray tables as well for some local shops and guides I know. Been pretty cool and alot of fun. To mix the 2.

      It's a ton of funny to make one, and maybe the idea of making a fishing net with minimal tools would be a fun challenge here!

    Great work , the net is very original. Can I ask where do you get the actual silicon net from? I have a net like that with larger holes and I have problems with skinny fish trying to swim through the holes.
    No problems with big fish, but not all of mine are big. Thanks

      I get the majority of my net baskets from
      Amazon, but if there is an odd size or color, I’ll go through Jann’s Net Craft. I have really enjoyed using the Fishpond brand of nets because they have smaller space between. I too suffer from a love of fishing gorgeous water with smaller fish. I’d recommend trying them out.

    Nice work on the net! All those different epoxy pours are a labor of love. Mind if I ask where you got your hands on that brass swivel connector? I haven't seen something like that before.

      Hi Aaron, thanks for watching! And yes, the pours were certainly a labor of love, but turned out exactly as I had hoped. As for the little brass connectors, here's a link to where I got them on Amazon. I used the 8mm, which seems pretty good. Maybe a touch bigger would be even better? Looks beautiful, I plan on taking an old wooden net i found and refinish it. What finisher sprays did you use and do you recommend that or any other products?

    • @RiverbendWoodworks
      @RiverbendWoodworks  2 роки тому

      I highly recommend sanding every bit of finish off the net down to 320-grit, then wiping it with a clean tack cloth. Use a product like Dalys Shipn’Shore to really penetrate the wood fiber with a finish that will harden. Do two coats of that and sand the top coat lightly. The final coats are a spar urethane finish from a rattle can. Choose your sheen, gloss, semi-gloss or flat, and apply 3-4 coats. It’ll be totally sealed and look awesome. Good luck and thanks for watching!

    How do you Connect the net there?

    • @RiverbendWoodworks
      @RiverbendWoodworks  2 роки тому

      I used stainless steel leather staples to avoid tearing the net basket silicone material, and also to avoid drilling through the net hoop itself. I pre-drilled the holes for each staple and tapped them home with a touch of super glue. Works great!

    What are your strip dimensions?

    • @RiverbendWoodworks
      @RiverbendWoodworks  3 роки тому

      Each strip for this 60” long and a bit less than 3/16” thick (each) and about 7/8” wide (sanded down to 3/4” all finished).
