Thank you for making videos, I have learned a LOT from them. I am grateful that you include the things that don't work, as I learn just as much from those.
I was worried the wood part would separate from the epoxy, Shell out but it didn’t and then the shaping since wood is softer than epoxy I thought it would sand differently and not look like a whole piece but it does. Good job.
I hope to one day be half as creative at knifemaking as you are. This is a beautiful piece, thank you for sharing. I will be following and visiting your website for more info!
that's a sick knife, thanks for the explanation... need to replace some acrylic panels that keep breaking off one of my knives and I'm hoping the epoxy will do a lot better... This is pretty encouraging....
I loved what you did here, so for the very first knife scales I made, I did a galaxy theme with resin. I still have a lot to learn, but am super happy with my first try. Wanted to share a pic, but I don't think that is possible here.
Man that is awesome great Intel thank you very much I have been wanting to learn this thanks for the lesson 👍👍 great video very well done and your knife and the scales look amazing
@@DIYeasycrafts I've been trying to find your Facebook page but haven't had a luck found several with similar names can you please share a link to it thanks
Interesting. Any ideas on making a checker board pattern by using 1/2"or 3/4" cut squares? I need black and white(to look like paint strokes) with rust colored bleeding edges of the white checker board pattern 3/8" thick x 1.5" x 6" scales........Just started researching this myself
@@DIYeasycrafts Thanks for the reply. I found another epoxy that allows you to use waterbased stain under it on wood. (Not sure if most do also)So I might try that first. Waiting on a reply from the manufacture rep. If so that opens up a lot of possibilities for me.
I have a set of four knives that are similar in shape but all different sizes. That I carry. I have been accumulating these hybrid wood acrylic scales.. and once I have all the ones I want I'm planning on putting them on my set of four survival knives. Does anyone know how strong or reliable this type of scale material is? As opposed to say linen Micarta.. or are they just for looks? Would they hold up just fine in survival situations in the woods? Excessive chopping things like that. Regular use. Or should I get some stronger scales?
BEAUTIFUL JOB 👏👏👏👍👍👍I am retired and starting to forge & make my own handles. Your videos are VERY helpful THANKS SO MUCH✌️✌️

Those turned out well. I've used clear epoxy to make burlap and canvas scales.
Cool, thanks

Hi it's too kool.. My query is how u inserted rivets?
I used stainless pins. Just drilled and epoxy in place
Very nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Love it...thats what its all about
Beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great job...
Knife is amazing. Where do you get the stencils for your blade etching?
Thank you. I use a vinyl cutting machine called silhouette cameo. Here is a video I did on the process ua-cam.com/video/9OWPbXUVDEQ/v-deo.html
I like it .Its very nice
Thank you! Cheers!
Amazing job
That's beautiful. What blue die did you use
I had some pearlesent blue left over from alumilite
@@DIYeasycrafts Thanks you
Do you think a die grinder would get clogged with resin while shaping? Have alot a resin to shave down.
Looks sweet! cheers
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
amazing !
Thank you! Cheers!
Can you use the same epoxy to secure the handles to the tang ?
No its casting epoxy would not work well for bonding
I like it!
Have you ever tried pouring half the handle and let it set until it hardens up a bit and then pouring the rest?

I would cast each color separately then cut the squares glue them together aqnd then pour clear over the top. Not sure about rust colored bleeding

NNNnnnice scale material!!!!
I have all the equipment to cast with alumilite is that still the best choice for resin?
Yeah as long as you have compressor and pressure pot
How and where do I get wood like that?
Where can I get some unstable wood like that?
I actually bought this as stabilized. Not really sure but search the web for wood burl
Isn´t it bubbles showing at 6:59? (near the blade)
two thumbs up
Thank you Sir
WOW
Thanks appreciate the feedback
Tape your blade when sanding/grinding
Many people do. When I make a mistake a little painters tape is not going to save anything LOL
Beautiful (Y)
Thank you! Cheers!
When I use my buffing wheel it always darkens and dirties the wood
Wood should be stabilized before casting in resin. This will make is very hard and much easier to polish
@@DIYeasycrafts Where I've been buying it they must not being doing that step
I've heard good feedback about the Woodglut plans.

I guess it really depends on if the burl was stabilized and who made the scales.
Beautiful work!
This as very well done! Also, very nicely done knife!
Beautiful!
Great video
