I still wish Varian’s death was handled differently. He didn’t have to be blown up. His body could have been brought home, a proper funeral, Anduin shares his final words, lay him to rest next to Tiffin, etc. But oh well, please Enjoy! :D

I guess they did it so players would be sure as hell he will stay dead. I mean... Hardly anyone in Azeroth ever stays dead unless you completely destroy his body, and even that is not a 100% guarantee.

At least we got to see Varian save Anduin from Domination in a cinematic with the theme playing in the background. One of the few highlights at least. We miss you Varian.
I’d be indifferent otherwise, but this line is the sole reason I accept the Alliance being the victors in ICC as canon.

Still miss Varian. He lost his wife to the Defias, was kidnapped and imprisoned on an island, came back in Wrath to lead the Alliance against the Lich King, only to fall on the Broken Shore. No body to bring back home, to bury next to his wife. I'm crying buckets right now. Rest in peace! :(

During Legion we lost champions like: Varian, Voljin, Tirion, Ysera and Illidan. Such a sad but GREAT expansion.

It's one of those themes that, if you're an hypersensitive like me, just brings you tears to your eyes as soon as that flute starts playing.
And nearly 5 years later, the tears still keep flowing!

This video makes me wanna experience the story from the Alliance's side. This music is so beautiful, it makes me wonder how important Varian was to the Alliance...
You should give it a shot. After all,sticking to one faction literally means you're missing out on half of the game's story.
True, but I'm pretty confused when playing Alliance... I can't orientate between cities, not even in Stormwind alone, I'm lost and I dont know what is where. The thought of having to relearn all of this just makes me sick and turns me away from truly trying out Alliance.
I might switch to Alliance though, if they release Void Elves as a subrace for Night Elves. I wanna play that shit and imma stick to the faction which gets them, haha. :P
It's never too late to learn though. It's a price you have to pay in order to have fun again. But it will be worth it,if you want to try out new stuff. Also,about the void elves...there are too many elves in the game already. Night elves,High Elves,Blood Elves(which are basically the same,I know,but they are separate factions),Nightborne,Void Elves?! I mean,I think the game needs something else,not more elves.
Yea, I agree with you that there are too many elves. Either way, the idea of Void Elves really appeals to me, so imma try them out anyways. :P

I've been a Horde boy since Vanilla, but I still love the Alliance. Both sides have had great heroes, and terrible villains. May you find your rest, Varian, and may your son rule as honorably as you did.
For Azeroth.
Remember, The Horde only exists because of Varians mercy. It took the Alliance to free the Horde from itself, and after it was over, and the Alliance could have ended the horde once and for all, Varian chose mercy.
I’ve read all the books with Varian in it. He is hands down the most well written character in all of Warcraft lore. He’s my absolute favorite. Even his death scene was executed wonderfully. Even though it always could have been better. I still miss his character.

When I listen to this, I can feel the monumental loss ringing in it for the Alliance. Even though I came to this world long past this loss and chose to bear arms against those who continue on in his name, I still feel it resonate with me.
To me, this song's name is simple. "The Trials of Kings". The trial of sacrifice for the father, and the trial of leadership for the son.

This is a masterpiece fitting to a King as Varian Wrynn.

Still coming back to this even though it's been years. Alliance Grand Marshal player from vanilla. Awesome to see the horde pay they're respects. Varian was a true leader in this storyline.
Also a fellow Grand Marshal. Always love to see people come back every now and then. Legion was a truly great expansion filled with many memories and great raids. The Broken Shore Intro is still the best way Blizzard ever started an expansion, although I miss Varian to this day. Nearly 5 years now.
I'm a loyal horde player, but, I've never been a fan of the continued conflict between the factions. I show respect where respect is due, and Varian, though human, embodies what Lok'tar Ogar means, through and through. Rest well, Varian. Aka'Magosh, Lo'gash.

We might have different ideas of an ideal world, but ultimately our factions are just filled with people... People who can love, hate, feel pain and feel joy. That's why we stood together against the lich king. That's why we fought together at the broken shore, and it's why we fight the legion now. We have our infighting as people of azeroth, but when it comes to protecting our people, we would all make great sacrifices...

We are the Forsaken. We do not forget when the people of the Alliance let Lordaeron down when we needed help the most. After the fall of the Lich King we were hated and are just outcasts and even our homeland Lordaeron is claimed by Alliance Ursupators now. We do not forget. We do not forgive. You want peace? The things you did and did not in the past will never be forgotten by undying people. The other members of the Horde might forget what you have done but not we. The Alliance took our only way to survive, the Val'kyr's.. our only chance not to fall into eternal darkness after death. You are the monsters here not the Forsaken.

idk man, every single time i hear this music i gets the feels and i tear up. kinda like in LOTRs movies, when all of man kneels before four little hobbits.
I maybe a horde player but Varian deserves the up most respect from all races anyone who disagrees didnt truely get to know him that well.
Farewell Varian you were one of the greatest warriors and by far the most respectful the allience lost one of the greatest when they lost you.

Of all the music I could have chosen to listen to while doing homework, I picked this. Why did I do this to myself? My heart is crying a bit right now, and that is NOT helping me focus. Regardless of my poor timing in listening to it, this piece, both its original form and this remix, is absolutely wondrous and so very emotionally powerful.
Hehe, thank you! And I do appreciate the kind words. This soundtrack is the first since Invincible to move me in such a way. Especially when tied with Varian's death and Anduin taking the mantle of king at such a young age made it all the better. A lot of love went into Legion and it shows, so I hope they bring some more in BFA! :D

This is what makes the story special and unique
What a sad fate to die. Nothing left to burry and imagine the pain Anduin must have felt to lose a dad like that. When he used his power to restore his army in that cinematic scene with Alliance vs Horde, you can see he was thinking of his dad to make him as proud as possible and helping the alliance not just the Alliance but also helping the Hordes.
It hurts...Seeing Anduin becoming a King without his father watching him.

True hordie here. But two of my favourite characters out of the three main ones i love, Jaina and Anduin, are alliance. Varian was epic and his son is too. Varian died like any true orc would want to die.If the horde saw how he died. They would respect him a lot more i believe.
This is peak World of warcraft here the emotion that went into the expansion supersedes anything they've ever done it felt as you as the player had a duty to destroy the villain.

Man I don't play wow (don't butcher me) but my boyfriend is a great fan, and gosh, he is a horde so whenever I say this is the best theme on the whole game he gets upset. But it is, everytime I hear this I have one more day of life.

Fel consumes the soul, and Varian got pumped with a lot of it. Not enough of him left to join the Valajar.
Actually, it may be that enough of his soul is left in Shalamayne, as jaina claimed (IIRC) that his sould was now bound to the sister blades. that part of his soul may have been what anduin spoke to during the cutscene. IDK interesting to speculate
@@blackstorm2965 That's why Anduin had the scene with Varian after picking up the sword. Anduin is a Priest, and dabbled in Shadow Spec as well so I don't even think Valen would be able to detect Varian in the sword but damn, if this is the route Blizz takes, I really hope Anduin becomes a strong character. I haven't played BFA though because im playing FFXIV but, I'll never let go of Anduins Theme, OR Jainas Theme from Theramore. Such a shame because I was so hype, Legion was a great expac and BFA is... Well, they fucked it up from what I see about it online. I hope Varian Resides in the sword forever and we get more flashbacks/Events, maybe even get a projection of Anduins mom from some kind of Varian Memory held within the sword. I'll pick up BFA probably at the end.

Back in the days, when WoW was still the most popular game, I was a Horde player that would despite Alliance players. Now, as LoL become the most popular game, I suddenly feel like I am standing alongside Alliance players. For the Horde? For the Alliance? No, for Azeroth, for World of Warcraft!
