  • Casey Stoner is a 2x MotoGP World Champion and one of the most incredible riders to ever grace two wheels. He had the perfect mix between next level commitment and clinical technicality that few have been able to match since. Since day one of Gypsy Tales, Casey has been someone I have always wanted to talk to and after a couple of years of talking about it, we finally made it happen. Casey is now a great friend of mine and it is a pleasure to bring you all this chapter of the podcast.

    I met Casey a few days ago when he came over to Perth for a meet and greet session at our local circuit. I've always been a huge fan and as a motorsport photographer I had to get that rear shot through turn 3 at Phillip Island. He signed the print I had and I gave him a copy. We had a moment to chat after the meet and greet photos with other fans. He has always been one of my top 5 influential people to meet and he did not disappoint. A great character, so down to earth and his recollection of races all those years ago is still crystal clear. That was truly an incredible experience for me.

    I'm 100% with Stoner, always on high alert when riding both roadracing, Mtb or just my car in heavy traffic... no trance state at all... only when the surroundings are quiet or very monotonous.

    I miss Casey riding in the Moto GP but can fully relate to why he had to retire as I also have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. Such a shame this illness took him out because the guy is a once in a decade talent. ♥️🇦🇺

      The fact we had him Lorenzo Pedrosa and a older Rossi all at the same time
      What a time the aliens era was ridiculous high end level talent of motoGP if you could transplant any of them into today MotoGP they might win every race right now

      @@RANDOMZBOSSMAN1 í totally agree. They were very special. What I do love now is it's a much more even battlefield and makes for such exciting watchíng . Jorge Martine is starting to stand out above the crowd in this last part of the season but next year on a faster bike Marquez (Mark) is going to want to make hís mark again and if he handles the Ducati he will. His brother Alex is starting to improve our of síght too.

    Gypsy, you articulated exactly what it is about riding dirtbikes seriously for everyone feels like. Those moments where you are the moment. Step out of life and into life at the same time. It what is known as ecstasy in some religions.

    For sense of speed, yes it’s gone pretty fast like our brain gets used to it pretty quickly especially if there’s a vehicle as fast as you do like everything just subconsciously look and feel normal.

    Very interesting…Just racing CCS and WERA, and even at track days I can recall sessions and races where all I could hear is the bike and my heartbeat.
    Trust me, I’m no pro level rider.

      @harrynoakes Рік тому

      You certainly don't need to be a pro rider, my whole life spent racing I spend more time in a "flow state" than not, I always had to force myself to be present to improve, unless I got a good start and was running on pure adrenaline to push hard

    They need to get rid of electronics. It's killing the sport.

      The manufacturer want it. Motogp is a test bed for technology that filters down into road bikes.

      It does seem to be extending careers though, by reducing nasty crashes. Rewind to the 2 stroke days and look how many had serious injuries and retired younger. But it does make the racing a little less exciting. Watching superbikes after moto GP and the superbikes seem so much looser and all over the place and that does add to the excitement. I'm not sure why the difference as they both have electronics.

    • @MotherAlgorithm
      @MotherAlgorithm 6 місяців тому

      @@8180634I'd love to see 2 strokes again with some aids to stop the injuries. Pure prototype racing.

    Possibly the fastest & most talented to ever do it.
    Granted Rossi has more titles & George currently has the pole & sprint races on lock but if Casey rode today he would still be at the front.
