What'd be most amazing for me is if a body horror film from the director of REVENGE ends up being the Brendan Fraser-esque comeback film for Demi Moore. I mean, even if it's a Toni Collette in Hereditary situation, where her performance is praised to the heavens yet she's not nominated for anything, I can see this opening many new doors for her. It'd be awesome to see, so let's see what happens.
@@gabrielcastaneda9700 yea, Razzies. She got clowned on by them a LOT during her peak era in the ‘90’s, winning Worst Actress in 1996 (a joint win for The Juror and Striptease) and in 1997 (for GI Jane), and Worst Supporting Actress for Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. She was also nominated in 1991 (a joint Worst Actress nomination for The Butcher’s Wife and Nothing But Trouble), in 1993 (Worst Actress for Indecent Proposal), in 1995 (Worst Actress for The Scarlet Letter), and in 2000 (Worst Actress for Passion Of Mind). I’d say only Madonna has won more acting Razzies than her. In any case, this is one of the first roles where Moore is receiving positive notice for her acting in a LONG time.
@@gabrielcastaneda9700 in fact, a big part of why I’m comparing this to Brendan Fraser is, sorta like with Fraser in The Whale, this seems to be a movie where people are like “Wow, Demi Moore can, like, ACT act!”, which a lot of people weren’t saying about her during her prime.
I think it's happened 5 ttimes in the Best Actress category and 11 times (if my count is correct) in total at Cannes (5 times in the Best Actor category and 1 time back when the award was not split by gender). 2006 is interesting because it happened in both acting categories- the Best Actor was jointly win by the main cast of Les Indigenes (Days of Glory), French film about Northern African men who fought in the French army in WW2.
Emilia Pérez is really a wild card to look out for. If Netflix plays their cards right, which I think they will, I can see it winning International Film and Original Song, and possible nominations for Director, Actress (which would be a legendary, history making nomination and / or win) and Supporting Actress.
they are must better than the Oscar Expert and Brother Bro. They don't have the arrogance of the Oscar Expert, plus these two are much more knowledgable about film.
Oscar Expert isn’t arrogant. And he and his brother have great chemistry. They might know less about the industry however (but know a great deal of the films they are talking about).
@@sarasamaletdin4574 You should watch them discuss West Side Story. It was apparent that they had no clue that it was an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. There are other examples but this is the first one that come to mind.
@@tjh12473 I agree. The Oscar Expert and Brother Bro are very knowledgeable when it comes to awards prognostication, but their knowledge about film history is limited. I remember that video where they didn't know about the source material for WSS, and I couldn't believe it. I find Brian is much more knowledgeable about the history of the Oscars. So their channels play different roles imo.
Here hoping Zoe Saldaña gets recognized by the Academy. I think she's a really solid actress, but maybe her work in franchises made her a bit underappreciated. Even if she isn't nominated, I'm just happy she's recognised by her TALENT and not only for her looks.
Hooray for Anora and Sean Baker! Congrats to Jesse Plemons winning for KoK who I love since Other People. And yeah, I'm with Cody. I'm also not a fan of Paolo Sorrentino and his films about old guys suffering from nostalgia and lusting for younger women.
Also gonna be Parthe-NOPE from me 😂 Otherwise lots of films to look forward to and hope a lot of them show up at tiff/nyff. I am still curious to see Megalopolis and The Apprentice partly because their distribution is still questionable...
Please shut up everyone gets it now 😩😩 whenever people talk about this movie you comment that comment all the time even tho nobody is predicting kinds of kindness

European critics really loved Demi Moore's performance. She's definitely back.
Has Demi Moore gotten awards love before

Excited to see Anora and The Substance 😀

Can't wait to see All We Imagine as Light and The Seed of the Sacred Fig. Also excited for The Substance and Megalopolis!
Welcome Back Cody!!! Always fun to see you here 😊
Best Director at Cannes is the category least likely to lead to an Oscar
One can dream though. 😂
Thanks for the video. Most excited for Anora, The Substance, and Emilia Perez easily!
I enjoy Brian and Cody together as much as Oscar Expert and Brother Bro.

I enjoy them all much like I enjoy a variety of films. Cody and Brian do have great chemistry and their conversations are enjoyable.

Loved this video! Also, let's keep an eye on "The Girl with the Needle". I think it could sneak into "International" and "Cinematography"

Thanks for making a video along the sidelines of your affair!
I am DECEASED. 😂
ALL WE IMAGINE AS LIGHT ❤
I won’t be surprised if Kind Of Kindness gets Oscar Buzz.
Hopefully not, the director is overrated and others need love
I'm disappointed Bird did not get warmer reception. Happy for Sean Baker and ofc for the much buzzed about Emilia Perez.
I was really hoping Megalopolis would be good.
They need to send you guys to Cannes
Grand Tour reminds me of Roma. Can’t wait to see it!
All we imagine as light was a surprise
I agree Cody, I don’t look good in a fancy dress, makes me look frumpy as a shorty lol i can’t wait for Anora, The Substance, and Emilia Perez ❤❤❤
All we imagine as light already has north america distribution
Cool!
Do Tony award predictions for Death Becomes Her!

Do u even know the meaning of "panned"???

Kinda of kindness is not not an awards contender sorry

These 2 are definitely having some fun in the bedroom. And im here for it!
