Fantastic performance of a classic. Thank you Stuart Maconie for putting this show together. Congrats to the 'band' too, great arrangements.DO IT AGAIN (AND AGAIN) PLEASE
It's great to see people loving and listening to this music after all this time. I dj'd at all the Golden Torch all nighters in 1972...I was 17 years of age. I very been to every venue since without a break, and dj'd at most of them. I feel a sense of belated achievement that 'we were right all along', this music really means something.....Power to the people!!
@johnbeggs9669......I was lucky enough to go to the Torch from late '72 - and was even there the night it got raided and closed down! Best all-nighter I ever went to - by far! Pissed all over Wigan. The atmosphere and dancers were incredible, and I only wish I could have got to go there more. [I was only 16 at the time - and lived near Stourbridge, so travelling was always a problem]. Thanks for all the great memories, John!
IMHO Best performance from a great show. Whilst I appreciate others may differ with this view, surely all will agree that this was truly a Prom to remember. more please!
Definitely in my top 10 all time Northern soul tunes. Just unfortunate that she made a few mistakes with the lyrics but still a great version of an absolute classic. KTF ✊
What amazes me is virtually no credit to the scooter rallies that have kept northern going ..as per the proms best thing bbc have done for yonks..ktf.lambretta a way of life
I think the problem here was that the orchestra got a bit over enthusiastic and played this number slightly too fast. It seemed to me that Natalie occasionally didn't have enough breath to put the right amount of clarity and passion behind some of the lines.
So - thousands in the Albert Hall dancing, smiling, cheering, great appause with more cheering at the end, the audience clearly enjoyed the track. Dozens of positive comment on this and other posts, but apparently you know better 🤔
You mean nobody but a few thousand people 'up North' should be allowed to listen and enjoy Northern Soul, eventually having it fade into non-existence as all the original fans died out? Disco, Punk, House and many other music genres also started out as 'underground' music forms. Should only the original fans be able to listen to them as well?
When this song comes on you just can't sit still, one of the best tunes on the Northern circuits
Shows the great innovation and skill of the original song writers and ..... what a performance from Natalie Palmer. Love it......
Totally agreed this girl can sing !
I could watch and listen to this girl all day long, she is amazing ….

Brilliant. Enjoyed watching the whole show on tv last weekend.
Absolutely magic! Probably the best show on the BBC, this decade so far.
They should be an album. Northern Soul at the Proms.

Not for me now I live in the US, at least nowhere I have found sadly.
Great version and wonderful orchestration. Not quite Judy Street but an amazing tribute.
Better than Soft Cell tho
A million times better than Soft Cell's version
@@malcolmcharman4686 The times I have heard that people think Soft Cell's version is the Original ???
I actually adore the Judy Street version !!
@@banyera The Judy Street version is a cover of the original by Melinda Marx
@@kjb40 Will check that one out THX

KTF LOVE THIS SONG

At last real quality on the BBC lets hope they learn from the response to this.
Fave NS song. Judy street
Happy days ✌️

play this at 1.25 speed for that little bit of crazyness... KTF
soft cell the best 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Oooooo❤
Does anyone have a vid of the orchestra playing Exus Trek as it was never shown on the broadcast.
Quality, not quite as good as original. It shows how timeless and popular northern soul is, it will always be there I've been into it 45 years.
Geoff Lynn is totally mustard 😊
We could have just asked Judy to perform this one...
Orchestra were good.
This girl can sing especially live..if Judy Street sang live it would probably sound the same.
Judy classic
oof the cam scan saw it right there..ppl looking bored / or else where
What amazes me is virtually no credit to the scooter rallies that have kept northern going ..as per the proms best thing bbc have done for yonks..ktf.lambretta a way of life
kk can we get the original ??
awe ffs yet another screecher
Absolutely fab but there dress sense 😂
It sounded like it was played at minus 2…… flat.
tbf ..not fan of natalie
TERRRIBLE
Where is the SOUL? This is an awful pastiche of 'northern soul'. Just poppy little covers.
terrible vocals.

@@alanmunro888I dont think her voice was strong enough.

@@olymartin that's irrelevant . Her voice is weak and god knows why they chose her.
Wow fantastic love it
Sad how northern has gone main stream..

Mainstream? Are any northern soul tracks in the current top 50?
All Music is for anyone . North , South, East , West. Come on everybody .🥂
Not always a good thing this show was Top stuff
@@olymartin I have seen Archie Bell and the Drells, here I go again labelled as NS,yet I am a Southerner and bought the 45 when it came out,........?
