When I heard on Hunter's Twitter that Davey would be St. Jimmy, I thought it was a joke! Now that I see this (the only scene I know from the musical =P), I see that Davey has truly made St. Jimmy his own. I'm so glad he got a chance to do this!
@Death2RockwayMiddle It's illegal because they want people to have to come pay them in person at Broadway instead of see it free online or whatever. But if they made dvds and sold them after the show closes then they would still fulfill their greed without the fear of losing box office numbers.
I love this man. I have had the pleasure of meeting him once, briefly, after a Blaqk Audio concert. It was a life-changing experience, that whole day was. I can't wait until BA (hopefully) plays the New England region during their upcoming Bright Black Heaven tour. If I am able to meet him again, there will be ink, my friends... I am not meeting that man again without getting him to autograph a body part of mine to be tattooed.
It sucks that I missed Davey in the play, but I i did get to go see it yesterday, it was an amazing show, visually it was just gorgeous and I hope many more people will get to see this once it is on tour.
T-T so sad, I doubt I'll be able to get up to NY to see it in time. Thank you for posting this. All of Broadway needs to learn to make dvds of all the different casts to sell. They make money and the fans are happy...WHY ARE THEY SOO MEAN!
I absolutely LOVE YOU for getting this...I went to his first show on March 1st and I was seated third row from the stage it was near impossible to film, and then video alot of videos posted the lighting was too bright to see his amazing wings tattoo, so thank you so very much :)
@xTheGodofRocksx I was Overwhelmed. Yes futuristic, steam-punk fashion was inspired by futuristic literature. It's very interesting. Oh that sounds like a great idea, I probably need to go to one anyway I'm super sensitive to everything now lol.
@xTheGodofRocksx Oh gosh.. I hope I meet him some day. He seems wonderful. You are lucky to say that it was spare of the moment. I've never even been to an afi concert.
@iansgrayeyes lol, yeah I waited around outside for him to come out on the night I went, I was waiting down by the lighted sign on the wall not by the door so he passed between my friend and I, luckly he was in a hurry that night so I couldn't ramble on, lol but I did get to say to him that he did an amazing performance and he thanked me lol. I'm sure had he hung around longer I might have rambled on. Now, to my friends I couldn't shut up about the show ;p
^.^ AAHHHHHH!!!!!! OMGOMGOMG THANK YOU SOOOOO FLIPPING MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS!!! this is the best one!!!! AAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!! someone else tried to get this recorded but didnt get it all because they got caught and told to turn it off, SO FREAKING GLAD YOU DIDN'T GET CAUGHT!!! XD and you got the PERFECT shot of Davey's face starting at 1:10 his face is so clear!!! Perfect!!
I kinda laughed when he had to readjust his mic after taking his shirt off... I thought of that "Twilight in four seconds" video: "Jacob, keep your shirt on!" "No!" But really, Davey without his shirt... excuse me while I catch my breath... =D
@xTheGodofRocksx No I’ve never been to their shows. I wish I could have gone to one of their concerts during the art of drowning era. That would have been awesome. What did you do after he signed your arm, did you get it inked? :D
I feel ashamed that I didn't know of AFI back in 2011, because I love AFI (now) so very much and I've been a huge fan of Green Day since 2008 and to see them together would've been just.. Amazing.
@xTheGodofRocksx he was very nice to everyone after the show. signed every single program and even one girl's arm. i wonder if he signs an arm after every show!
I'm a huge AFI fan so I thought that the fact that they were involved with Green Day was amazing! As you can see from my username, I love Green Day too. AFI and Green Day forever! (That sounds very cheesy... ^______^)
...what is "decline?" What about progression? I'm SO sick of all these kids who find the time to HATE on bands that have "sold out" or whatever phrase they choose to use. A better idea is to stop following the band. I have not heard AFI call themselves "East Bay Hardcore" since when, Art of Drowning...so GET OVER IT! As for "American Idiot," I saw the show on 3/12 and it was awesome...so yeah, nice footage...RANT OVER...
I'm a huge fan of hardcore music and the ethics that go along with it. But I also understand the need to do what people call "selling out", signing to a major label, whatever. Bands that do that aren't selling at, they're being smart. People who can talk shit can eat a dick lol
@marty uribe You hate them so much you're commenting on a 9 year old video of Davey Havok. No one is forcing you to listen to AFI if you don't like them anymore. It's okay to move on.
Ill make your day, afi sold out plain and simple. I don't care what they do in their spare time. But don't change your whole band and genera of music. To appease the teenage emo fans. I don't care they changed. But they did sell out. So, it is what it is. I accept it, doesn't mean I have to like it.
Actually, I went to this show on Broadway, and the way it was set up iis ndeed like a concert; it's not like any other musical (Billie Joe actually considers it to be a rock opera, which fits). People didn't cheer as much, or sing along, at "How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying", also on Broadway. I've heard (and know) that Broadway audiences are more interactive and vocal than ones in London. So it's not entirely inappropriate. But I will admit it's immature. =P
If you were as big a fan of davey as i am you might have done the same thing. A little immaturity in the presence of greatness must be forgiven. I JUST COULDNT HELP MYSELF!
Renata Ninetynine I'm a huge fan of Davey. I just didn't think it was the place for that. But I do understand not being able to help it, he's pretty overwhelming.
Renata Ninetynine Seriously? Now we're playing the immature 'who's the bigger fan' game? *raises eyebrow* If I weren't a humongous fan, would I have bothered entering for a chance to meet Davey backstage after the show? (The photo with him from that night is my profile pic
@iansgrayeyes Oh the moustache, how I hate thee. xD Anyway, the quality of this is great, and I love watching it and reliving my experience. So thanks. :)
@iansgrayeyes hahah I mean it doesn't REALLY make me cry... it's just a really beautiful musical, but I saw it with Tony Vincent as St. Jimmy, and seeing Davey perform it is kind of... um... an ear/eye/soulgasm. XD
@xTheGodofRocksx LOL You were high on life that’s what happened. I would be high on life too if Davey signed my arm :D Happy belated birthday, so did you get the tattoos? I want an afi tattoo, but I don’t know if I’ allergic to the ink (sensitive skin).
@TheHManShow sorry, no. there was a notice in our programs saying "the role of johnny played by van hughes will be played by chase peacock at tonight's performance."
@taffyangel Hell I'm in a worse boat. I live a half hour away from the city and I just don't have the money to go lol. It drives me crazy straight insane and I'd sure as hell save up the money and even cut my classes to go, but I missed a week and a half of my courses when I had a concussion, so I'm just screwed lol
@direnblue16 lol I know, and if I could I would much prefer to see it in theater. I have no problem with the ticket prices and everything because I love theater (and Davey) and find it worth it, but I live in Virginia and attend college, I can't afford to drag my ass up there, see the show and come back in the one day so I don't have to pay for a hotel or two days on a weekend so I don't miss class. It would either cost too much or I would die falling asleep at the wheel.
I love this one :) I just about jizz my pants when he takes his shirt off :P I so wish I could have gone to see him, but alas, I had no money and live in the UK.
@iansgrayeyes OMG the mustache, Like I love Davey, he's my artist that I admire, like some people are Prince people, some people of Paul McCartney enthusiasts, but for me my fav will always be Davey and as much as I love his looks, his whole style in general the mustache just had to go lol
@deadgirlx09 i think you must be the first person who was bothered by davey disrobing! =D Also, you make it sound like it was davey's idea to take his shirt off. "St. Jimmy" takes his shirt off, not davey. if you watch Billie Joe in the same role, he too takes his shirt off.
@xTheGodofRocksx That's great. Sorry for replying so late my English class is too much sometimes, I’m writing a paper on futuristic literature. Anyway...lol no I've never been tested. How do you do that? My name is Luz by the way (shakes hand).
@taffyangel It's just not very typical that a Broadway play becomes a DVD. You know the whole integrity of the theater, people must come to see it blah blah blah.
@SugarCoatedLullaby next time you leave a comment, try to put some excitement into it! JK. thank you for the comment; i'm thrilled you like the video! :D
@iansgrayeyes lol yeah i got a bit over joyed there but it's so freaking hot and i love how he sings this song. because i had just saw the other persons vid that got cut short and i was irritated....then saw this and got super excited. XD
You are soooo out of date with the AFI guys. Try checking their official facebook page- they announced that all 4 members have twitter on there. And on the official fansite AFI News HQ.
@iansgrayeyes oh lordie no, how can i be bothered by that?! haha i just thought the manner in which he did it was silly. not in a bad way. i love how theatrical he is.
This isn't Davey Havok. He didn't say "Oh" enough.
10 points XD
OH!
Ohhhh shit! Yooohhhur right!
This quality is perfection
That man is perfection
When I heard on Hunter's Twitter that Davey would be St. Jimmy, I thought it was a joke! Now that I see this (the only scene I know from the musical =P), I see that Davey has truly made St. Jimmy his own. I'm so glad he got a chance to do this!
When he takes off his shirt he looks like a mini Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein.
This was awsome too bad i couldnt and still cant go to see it. I would have loved to go and see it when Davey was in it.
@Death2RockwayMiddle It's illegal because they want people to have to come pay them in person at Broadway instead of see it free online or whatever. But if they made dvds and sold them after the show closes then they would still fulfill their greed without the fear of losing box office numbers.
Christ his range is insane
Just beautiful. Outstanding vid - Davey's outstanding and unmistakable voice is a musical delight and you've caught it all.♥
i feel like im abusing the replay button because i cant stop listening to this...i love davey

I love him. I love his tats, especially the wings on his back. Quite frankly, I would have died to see this in person.
I absolutely LOVE YOU for getting this...I went to his first show on March 1st and I was seated third row from the stage it was near impossible to film, and then video alot of videos posted the lighting was too bright to see his amazing wings tattoo, so thank you so very much :)
AFI fan since 2003 :)
@iheardavoice1 yes he was mind blowing! the whole cast was everyone was so talented!
@coralradpants ikr? his run as st. jimmy was way too short. after the show he told me he wished he could have stayed longer.
@xTheGodofRocksx I was Overwhelmed. Yes futuristic, steam-punk fashion was inspired by futuristic literature. It's very interesting. Oh that sounds like a great idea, I probably need to go to one anyway I'm super sensitive to everything now lol.
You video taped this amazingly!!!!!! Some of the best quality live recordings ever.
ABSOLUTELY love you for being able to get this in good quality, I should have gotten balcony seats haha
Thank you SO much
@xTheGodofRocksx Oh gosh.. I hope I meet him some day. He seems wonderful. You are lucky to say that it was spare of the moment. I've never even been to an afi concert.
wow....loving the Greenday meets AFI sound! They should do more collaborations together!
I'm glad he's bulked up a bit again. Anyone else remember when Davey was ripped?
@GreenDayMnority I am also a long time fan of both bands. Bringing them together like this just makes me an old fangirl. =]
Wow I really wanna watch that :-)x Davey was awsome as always:-)x
Awesome! :)
Omg I want to carry Davey offstage too ;)
is it wrong that watching this makes me cry a little? :P oh, sweet Havok...
@sourpunchfan74 thank you SO much. i'm so happy i had the nerve to record this. seems like everyone's loving it.
I kinda laughed when he had to readjust his mic after taking his shirt off... I thought of that "Twilight in four seconds" video: "Jacob, keep your shirt on!" "No!"
But really, Davey without his shirt... excuse me while I catch my breath... =D
Me too, no one was really into AFI at the show though which sucked because my best friend and I were going isnane
I love afi
@xsarahhavokx Yeah, I hope to see more of them together... maybe with another tour? :D
God I really wish i could have seen Havok
@taffyangel i agree with you; that's an awesome idea. especially since ticket prices are too high for many people to afford to see the show.
@xTheGodofRocksx No I’ve never been to their shows. I wish I could have gone to one of their concerts during the art of drowning era. That would have been awesome. What did you do after he signed your arm, did you get it inked? :D

woah ,those wing tattoos on his back! he is literally an angel XD. how expensive was that, and how many days did it take to complete?!
I'm a huge AFI fan so I thought that the fact that they were involved with Green Day was amazing! As you can see from my username, I love Green Day too. AFI and Green Day forever! (That sounds very cheesy... ^______^)

And totally off topic, @iansgrayeyes, what camera are you using; the audio is fantastic!
@TheHManShow sorry, no. there was a notice in our programs saying "the role of johnny played by van hughes will be played by chase peacock at tonight's performance."

I think Billie should play as Jimmy. It suits the character better.
I miss him as an attractive punk kid
gangstazombiekilla This is a costume because it’s a play.
that guy is from AFI
Nerdy Jeremy Really?
We were there
My Little & I were there for this…3rd row center…next to and in front of DxH’s family 😊
Woah..i didnt know he performed on AI (:
@TheVoicesAreTalking Haha, I just smiled/smirked. =P I doubt I'd do more, even if my brother weren't right next to me.
@iansgrayeyes what kind of camera do you have?!
omg the tattoos!
Lookit this sassy beautiful man.
DUDE! Davey put the link to this video on a twitter update! BE PROUD!
replay replay replay
and the twitter account is actually verified to be him. and the afi updates tend to be on their fb nowadays, not their official site.
@silverandcold65 you're very welcome! what night did you see the show?
@fylledwythflyes why does it make you cry? just curious...
who has two thumbs and saw AFI and Green Day in the same concert? this guy
@direnblue16 i think that was in the STS days, right? i happen to like all of his looks (except when he had the mustache. did you see that?)
@vogtfilms "hate" is a very strong word. after all, this IS a broadway musical, not a rock concert. =)

@AgonysRose Wow I got over excited I meant "impossible to film video, then alot of videos..." lol
who was playing johnny??
@taffyangel It's just not very typical that a Broadway play becomes a DVD. You know the whole integrity of the theater, people must come to see it blah blah blah.

@iansgrayeyes I've got pics of my sister's face signed by all the members of AFI. the only one who hesitated to do it was Adam.
He scares me right now! AHHHHHHHHH!
i saw on 13th of march
He's good but...I love BJ's voice too much XD
@BleedingHearts37 thanks for answering the guy's question. it was so dumb i couldn't be bothered. :D
no tht was Van Hughes I'm sure
@mrscrashlove best new year's eve present ever!
