If i have done only my general medicine and general surgery postings during intern year at the time of applying for usce, should i mention only them in the transcript ?
Hello sir did you have any mentors who guided you. I'm also from a place where people dont know about these stuff n usmle is far fetch..i don't even have anyone from US. So all these factors is really discouraging me
Sir when u did 3 electives before starting of your internship, keeping in mind that u need to apply 6-8 month prior, u must have applied for electives during your 4th year, which means neither u have 4th prof marks nor u r in final year at the time of applying. Also u don’t have clinical rotations in different departments since your internship has not started yet. So how did u manage a medical school transcript and dean’s letter saying u r in final year??
@@ArjunChatterjee ok sir... actually I wanted to ask that like some places such as Cleveland clinic asks for requirement that u should’ve completed all your core clerkship/rotation at the time of clinical electives. Sir are they asking that u should’ve completed final year internship rotations or they are asking for clinicals before the internship/final year?? because it’s almost impossible to first complete internship/final year rotations and then apply for electives..... PLEASE HELP SIR
Sir u deserve many subscribers. Each and every video of u is a gem. I am in my final year of MBBS my dream branch is radiation oncology how to get electives for it and is it possible for an img to match into radiation oncology .
You need to check the NRMP match results. If you apply early getting an elective shouldn't be an issue, although I have no idea how difficult or easy it's to match in rad-onc.
Most universities require colleges to a be part of the AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities™ (VSLO®) program to apply for electives... Only 10 indian colleges are registered to the VSLO program.. Even places like Mayo clinic require application through VSLO... Is this any way around this?
@@ArjunChatterjee So what can i do now Very limited universities are left to apply without vslo What is your opinion on private agencies like usmle sarthi and amo opportunities They are providing clerkships with physicians affliated with universities..
Sir,If I extend my internship for 8 months and do the electives ...is it a good decision or not... because once I graduate I may regret it..I wanna match into obgyn..which might need my electives LOR
What if you get selected for a particular elective and that you paid its tuition fee but you don't get the visa appointment slot. Or you get the slot but by that time you no longer are a student (and become a graduate)?
Thank you for this insightful guide. Is there any chance you can help provide a template for the Deans letter and the medical transcripts on home school clerkships?
I'm in 3rd year and done with step 1 but does not have visa for electives. So when(immediate future or 4th year)to apply and how to obtain visa for electives?
This was really useful, thank you for the video. I have a question about the transcript mentioning the duration of the courses taken. If I am applying for an elective in my fourth year (in orther to do the rotation in my fifth year), should I explain about the courses that I am going to take or just the courses that I've already taken? Because in my fourth year I am not doing rotations, just externships, or do they count as courses taken? Thank you for your time :3
Thus video is quite informative! Thank you! I noticed that we have to select a particular course in the department i choose to apply for electives, for eg: I choose internal medicine and in that there’s cardiology, pulmonary medicine, endocrinology etc. Is there a way to do internal medicine elective as a whole ( by not having to choose a specific course) ? Or if I do need to choose one, will it count as experience in that specific course only OR internal medicine as a whole?
Would it hurt your application if you postpone your internship a year or repeat a year in med school in order to buy time & prepare yourself to apply for electives ..? Looking for your valuable insight.
Hi, thanks for the video! I was wondering if we are also allowed to do electives if our internship postings are completed but we have not yet submitted internship materials or applied for the internship completion certificate?

You need to do BRS Physiology in case you want to understand physio, then read Guyton or Gannong. Just by opening a 1000 page book, you won't learn anything.

Can one apply for electives without OET scores?

while we apply or when we go to us?
bro what is the acceptance rate of electives if ur board exam score is too low , or will it make a difference ?????
No difference. There is no standardised acceptance rate, but it's quite low I would say. So apply to as many places as possible.

Usually around Match season. March to June. Start emailing professors just after the match week.
Thanks! Best of luck for the journey ahead!

Hi sir.
Why are you doing a research year in Rochester when you have such good usmle marks?
It's like asking why go to high school, when you've aced in middle school. Lol. I want to perform clinical research in my career. That's why.
