What a huge difference from my 2009 corolla, I can replace the water pump on that car with my eyes closed, because its so easy compared to these older ones...

The harmonica balancer does 🚭 have to come off it's a little time in it but this is very easy job getting bad information
I feel your pain. This is Definitely not an easy job! I had to do this twice on my 94 DX because I cheeped out and got a cheap WP. Ill Never do that again, I only by straight from Toyota. Also, i found it easier to loosen the pulley on the water pump before taking the belts off and taking that whole mount and bracket out of the way. That way you have a lot of clearance. Good video though!

Anthony Wendt that's right never by non genuine especially on a water pump where you've gotta remove that timing belt. The timing belts a critical job which you don't need to screw up.
There are 3* 12 millimeter that hold to water pump in place , release the short pipe and its out
Will it make it all easier to get at if you remove the engine cradle knuckle and CV axle?

To change the waterpump you don't have to remove the balancer, you don't have to loosen the valve cover either...
IM doing it NOW!!!!!!

I would beg to differ, you're probably a lot smarter than you realize. People who can change their own water pump are no smarter than you, they didn't always know how to do it. They learned and now they can, just like you can ;)

Do not remove harmonic balancer this could create big problems, go for the timing tensioner...

Use paint or nail polish to mark belt and pulleys or else your toast!!!
Grease pen, mark the top tooth on the side of the gear then mark the engine and make sure they are aligned when you put the new one on. Mark the bottom the same was as the top. It's much smaller and if moved you will go out which ever way you turned it. So be careful

Yes I did end up unbolting the timing cover.
Did you have to remove the motor mounts and Jack the motor up too?
No, removing the motor mounts and jacking up the engine was not necessary. Thank you for you questions.

Yep.
i think there are few steps missing like, water pump pulley like, mark the timing belt, remove tensioner, and remove the harmonic balancer.......this videos are mean for DIY guys.....so you must explain......to get the harmonic balancer bolt off just get a rench make sure it is touching the floor or any metal and just try to start the engine.........for the timing belt before you get it out make marks on the belt and Pinions with liquidpaper or paint. make sure to clean the pinions before you mark them......this is a very easy job but it takes time for beginners.....
Marking the belt is not the correct way to set the timing, and I don't use a wrench or breaker bar to remove the harmonic balancer. How about you make a video and show us how you do it?

Hi I had a water pump put on n now it's not cranking. They put a timing belt on. Tried to set it. N it's still not cranking. It's a 95 corolla. Smh. Any suggestions
Sounds like your timing may be off especially if the car ran before the attempt at setting the timing belt. Yes, it is very difficult if not impossible to change the water pump with out removing the timing belt. The job is much easier with the timing belt out of the way. That question is answered at 8:30 in the video.
Going this far to replace the water pump, there is no reason to try and save money by not changing the timing belt and tensioner while at it.
It is if you just changed the timing belt and tensioner.
@@Engineerboy100 Well obviously. Though it would be quite dumb to go through all that trouble and not replace the water pump while at it. I think its quite dumb how they put the water pump. Its separate from the timing belt, yet you have to go through the same trouble really.
Plus replace crank seal that will leak sooner or later

Hang Haam Sometimes that's the best way for people to go, that's one of the reasons I make these videos is so people can see what the job entails and decided whether or not to tackle it or take it to a shop.

This job sounds like a freakin nightmare. Thought Toyota's were supposed to be easy to work on? Think not.
Most jobs on this car are pretty easy outside of overhaul stuff and ... well this, but routine maintenance items that the average owner would do on any kind of regular basis are very easy.

lol wow, all you had to do was remove the wheel and plastic inner fender, use a wobbly or whatever and get the damn thing off then reinstall. harmonic balancer? lol damn you like that extra work.
