great vid thanks 👍🏻did tom ford ever use colour coated bottles?i bought an oud wood brown bottle and was able to scratch it with my fingernail to reveal clear glass beneath or does he only use coloured brown glass like a beer bottle glass for example,
Pretty sure it's like the beet bottle glass. It's not a coating. I'm not exactly going to try scratching mine off though :P

Hi, I believe I have been fooled too, purchased Oud Wood 100 ml from eBay USA, all boxed & wrapped in cello, looked so real, but when sprayed it does not smell anything like Oud Wood, more like a dirty soap water, then I noticed the top cap spelled Tom Ford without the slight space between Tom & Ford, it is spelled in one word TomFord and the font is slightly bigger, the box does not have structured pattern over the paper box like it had when I had my genuine one before, I still have the original bottle, and that is how I found this looks like a counterfeit..would you help me verify it?

5 years later and the fakes are getting better. But you can still tell by looking at the atomizer and the bottom of the bottle

No, Neroli Portofino Acqua does come in a white box when you buy it at retail. The same applies for testers though, those don't come in boxes at all so if it's a white box marked tester it's probably fake. If it's a white retail box with a green sticker on it, it's not a fake tester most likely.

It hasn't arrived year and says it can take up to 2 weeks I paid via PayPal tonight and was wondering if Paypal would refund me before I've received it as I suspect it to be a fake? I bought a fake Fahrenheit off ebay.. When compared to the real thing, the differences are very subtle, but telling in the bottles shape. Also, the paint rubs off the bottle whereas the real Fahrenheit does not.

Hey thanks for the info! I've been eyeing some Tom Fords on eBay. There's one seller called Perumecarnival based out of NY that has a lot of them. Selling sealed in box 100 ml Tuscan Leather for 279.99. Great feedback, no complaints about fakes. Would you trust a seller like that?
No. Having a lot of 1 product is a red flag. I've seen people on eBay with over 100 bottles. Logic would say stay away! I know Tom Ford makes body spray now in some fragrances. $65 and it scent is nearly as good.
i just bought an empty bottle of 250ml Amber Absolute off of ebay and I think it's probably fake after compairing it with my Tom Ford store bought bottles. It came with a box too and the bottle looks really good, but the lettering on the sticker is pressed on the gold sticker on the bottle instead of flat printed on my other bottles. Those are smooth when you can feel indentations on the one I bought on ebay. Did the older style have this type of sticker or did i just buy a good fake?

People are so shady. Wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have to worry about this? I've been wearing Oud Wood since 2009. I was almost tempted to buy a bottle on eBay tonight, but I started reading the reviews and a few people have caught on and left negative reviews. I have no doubt that some people sell the genuine thing, but it's just not worth the risk. Also, I'd say stay away from people that say they've sold dozens of bottles.

There are "real" testers of all TFs, it's just they aren't what a standard tester for a company looks like. They are normal bottles, with caps, that stores put out on display. There are none with those stupid white boxes.

I bought it from local store and all my previous Tom ford were made in Switzerland. . (black orchid and noir ) .. that is why I wondered why it is in USA not Switzerland ..it smells identical but the longevity is quite poor . thank you.
I just bought one (Velvet Orchid) from ebay for £45, no box, smells identical, but the TF seal and bottle don't look genuine. I don't know if I should contact the seller since I don't have a proof that its fake, I don't have anything to compare it with as all Velvet Orchids here in the UK are manufactured in Switzerland.

Why should people worry if they buy a fake product that smells the same, cost much less, but has a bit of a lower longevity?
Because it's fake. It's not real and they don't smell the same. Also, these counterfeits are produced by people looking to scam you out of your money so you don't know what kinds of chemicals are used in the actual juice inside. These aren't knockoffs intended to be look alikes, they're intended to make you think you're getting the actual product when you're not. There's absolutely no value in buying them and lots of risk. This is a ridiculous comment.
My friend bought one from Russia for $110. I don't know if it is real or fake. Based on this video, it appears to be fake because it is 100 ml tester. It smells exactly the same as the $300 bottle I have, and longevity is easily six-seven hours. I guess not all fakes are bad. Or maybe Tom Ford produces 100 ml bottles for European market??
The $3 ones are in auctions, but they are usually sold around $80. I contacted a guy I know in Russia and brought to his attention that there was no 100 ml testers. He immediately removed them from his Ebay store, but I swear the Russian version ones smell exactly the same as the American ones. I have no problems buying them. The longevity of a Russian TV is around 6-7 hours.

Amber Absolute appears to be available again on the Harrods website in 50/100/250ml for regular retail prices. "Tom Ford opens his reserve for a limited release of an exclusive fragrance from the Private Blend collection."

It's probably fair to consider that the "Chocolate" purchased was made by the seller from some other account. This would automatically produce at least a history of that product being sold possibly tricking others into believing it exists and is ok because someone purchased it in the past. Not to mention it now has an average price of $97 making people think they are getting a deal if they pay less it.

You know the old saying - where there's smoke, there's fire! Just get the real thing from a reputable/authorized shop and do away with the worries. Better yet, get down on a split with Slurpees387 and save even more!

Buying online is ok if you go to Tom Fords website, or other stores like Neiman Marcus. Some people have to buy online due to limited shopping in their area. For instance I'd have to drive 6 hours :-/

I've never ordered from there so I can't comment. I haven't heard anything about them selling fakes but it doesn't mean they're 100% legit. Better to check their return policy before buying and the bottle when it arrives.
