    An opportunity of a lifetime. No doubt, best father, son adventure, ever!!! This is what great memories are made of. As a father, a grandfather, an avid outdoorsman, as a hunter, a son, this truly warmed my heart to watch. I'm proud, if not a little envious, of you both. Thank you for allowing me to be with you and enjoy this awesome adventure. Hope you have many more safe and successful hunts in the future. May you be blessed mightily in every way, in all you do, may you continue to be a blessing to others. I witnessed a little boy mature into a confident young man. More importantly, i witnessed a father and son create a strong bond in a very special way. These things have no price that can be placed upon them. They are priceless. Nobody can take this experience away from you. Again, thank you. There might just be hope for mankind after all.
    Mark, sorry, not the disciple, lol

    I expect that Gavin will have to get much older before he will fully understand how truly special that day was. No doubt it will be a cherished memory, especially when it's all visually recorded.
    Well done, Dad, and crew for making it happen.

    Bad shot. New hunters, look at the back of the front leg, and come straight up if broadside. It keeps you from aiming in the middle of the body.

      He took 1 shot, iit died, and he recovered it. Cant complain about that. Everyone that hunts has made a shot that wasnt perfect. When skinning it, it looked like a liver shot

    What brand of gun is used to shoot? How many meters to shoot? How many kilograms does the animal gain?

    I can't be the only one who notices that they never show the gut shot or hind leg site in any photos because of the original shot placement. Not sure how long they waited or if the meat was still good by the time they finished. Hope it wasn't ruined. It was a gift for both to hunt but remember the same rules apply in "once in a lifetime" hunts, proper shot placement and humane finishing of animals.

    That kid needs to go back to small game hunting. Those were bad shots. He's not ready.

    • @ericsweeney4544
      @ericsweeney4544 Рік тому

      Couldnt have been that bad of a shot... singular, since it was only 1 shot. It died fairly quickly. The camera angle made it look worse than it was. When skinning it, it looked like a liver. Either way, if you hunt, you'd know that everyone is a little off sometimes. It happens

    • @ericsweeney4544
      @ericsweeney4544 Рік тому

      Bad shots? When was there a 2nd one? It died before they could reposition for a 2nd shot. Also, he is a kid that was shooting 250 yards. Anyone that hunts knows not every shot is perfect, but the end result cant be ignored here

    So, they killed this magnificent animal, instead of letting it live & spread its magnificent genes? Killing beautiful animals for pleasure. Disgusting. How does this differ from the Washington DC sniper?
    I'm not an "animal rights" wacko. I love eating meat. But something like this just makes me want to cry. What you gonna do with that entire huge carcass afterwards? Would have been better to shoot an excellent picture & let the animal flourish in it's territory

      That’s a shame!!!!! It took MANY years for that animal to grow that big and they took its life. May there ought to be culling humans, especially the bad ones in jail. GODS gonna get them!!

      Your post shows a considerable lack of understanding regarding this hunt.
      1. The current distribution and numbers of wild sheep in North America is a direct result of hunting dollars and efforts by hunting conservation groups. Transplanting sheep into the available range, monitoring disease, installing water catchments and drinkers and so many other details are the result of hunting dollars.
      2. All western game departments have stringent rules for not wasting meat. In the Lewis and Clark journals, Bighorn Sheep was their favorite game meat. True ethical hunters treasure the meat from their hunt. The quality of the meat is far superior to anything you could buy at a store.
      3. Humans have hunted since their earliest days. Humans have murdered each other since their earliest days. Hunting and murder are in no way the same thing.
      4. Hunting these sheep is a very rare opportunity. These tags are primarily issued through a raffle drawing which happens once a year in each state. That particular hunt would statistically require a person to apply every year for many lifetimes to draw one permit. Most hunters will never have that opportunity.
      5. The issuance of permits to hunt sheep is a tiny fraction of the known herd and is based on the carrying capacity of the range as determined by professional biologists.
      6. You must let others kill animals for your meat. Cattle are also magnificent animals. I raised beef for many years.
      I could go on and on.

      @@cynthiagonzalez658 only facts. Perhaps you could point our anything I said that is incorrect, from a factual standpoint.
      There would likely not be 90% of the mountain sheep that there are today in the lower 48 states without hunting conservation groups. Have you done even one hour of research on this issue? I have been very close to it for 40 years.

    • @chrissmith3509

      But you chose to watch it be killed. Weirdo. Most conservation money comes from hunters. Without hunters this sheep may have never existed.
