    I hope that once the lockdown is over we make more time to enjoy our outdoor spaces like this, they do in other countries so why not here? I know our weather isn't wonderful but coming home from work and having a bit of time outside is so therapeutic, or coffee in the morning before work, I love doing that.

    Brilliant transformation!! I did the Fake Grass bit with my small yard which was mostly a very rough concrete path. It covered the concrete but left a small triangle of so called Garden. I picked up small rocks when I found them and made a rockery in the corner and got various "junk" furniture from second hand/charity shops. A cleaned up and painted green wooden bookcase for displaying small pots and other items. A small wooden indoor table and an "iffy" plastic chair painted the same green. A solar powered water feature and non-matching pots from the same junk shops to put some plants in and my yard was transformed. Lovely place now for a cuppa and even my little Mutt likes it. Again, brilliant and Well Done.

    Just a small tip - it may be better to put the solar panel for your balcony lights on the out side of the post it is currently sitting next to because firstly it will be hidden but also it won't be in shadow from the post itself. I think you could also hide the underside of the 'industrial glass roof' above your balcony with some all weather fabric draped nicely . maybe some shower curtains ina nice fabric - have a look at Kate Mckabes greenhouse make over she did hers with voiles- they were on the inside so you sould need something water proof - but it looked lovely.

    Fantastic transformation Luke and Zara. I think one of those lanterns with all the holes in would look nice hanging up. And also the lavender could do with some drainage holes in the base of the tin pot.

    • @shelaghjackson9577
      @shelaghjackson9577 4 роки тому +2

      Luke Catleugh : That’s the first thing I thought too! All pots need drainage holes. Rosemary is a good choice and easy to look after! It all looks so much better than before.😎🌱🥂 I hope your next door neighbours are now inspired to do a tidy up so you don’t have to look at their stuff as it is?

    • @dloveofgod8269
      @dloveofgod8269 4 роки тому +2

      I thought about that but when you don't have drainage holes you can just put some rocks at the bottom or broken pieces of clay pots ( lol I seem to have those ) just try keep roots drier just try not to overwater. 🌻

    • @lynnfenwick9347
      @lynnfenwick9347 4 роки тому +3

      @@dloveofgod8269 Nope, the water still can't get out, if there is a down pour then the plants in that pot will be flooded with water. Stones allows for better drainage WHEN you have holes in the pot.

    • @dloveofgod8269
      @dloveofgod8269 4 роки тому +1

      Thank you yes so true. Where I can't drill holes am careful not to overwater yet still add rocks. Since I'm bad at amt of water when I have no drainage holes I do try to usually have something in smaller pots I can pull out to water then put back in to pretty container.
      Over watering is usually the reason for ruining my plants that don't make it.

    Love your porch. Spray your ottomans with scotch guard. That could help repell dirt and water. Maybe keep a piece of clear plastic vinyl folded inside your ottoman so when the weather is bad you can cover it. Your plants, spray with hairspray to repell dirt. Just hit them occasionally with a duster and respray.

Yes those ottoman are so useful.I like the fact you work together and are a team!!! Just shows how a space can be inviting. So wonderful.Makes you look forward to having al fresco dining.You both have made a fantastic transformation. One thing if you wanted to purchase the holders for plants to go around the drain pipes, good option? Maybe you could put some oilcloth over ottoman. Then make it no sew by outing scallop edging by cutting around with a saucer or small plate. Then punching holes around edge for pattern?This would keep ottoman protected.Also maybe bunting across the railings.? This is lovely, brilliant. So nice. Thank you so very much.

    ❤️What a lovely space. Here are a couple of extra suggestions - try hooking the rosemary planter over the top rail of the fencing (on the outside) so that you have more floor space plus you get to see and smell the rosemary more easily. Also, these old drain pipes could be masked if you wound something around them like raffia or fake ivy.

    Your video just scrolled up. Funny I was born in England but 2 when my Scottish born parents left for canada for 7 years then to USA when I was 9. I’m 65 now. Living in Southern California. I love your small space makeover. It’s just enough and easily removed. I’m not sure you would want to do plants on the way becausae of the brick ecessive back splashing and or the type of plants could damage or mold the bricks. So I guess you share entire landing with the other neighbor. I’d be tempted to hang a curtain there, something easily move if ever needed the balcony. We ended up with more lot then we bargained for in lot size, almost an acre lot, in retirement but I’ve always decorated each space as if small. So we have 6 seating areas and 2 more in the works. Very hot here. Have to follow shade! Will have to look at your other videos.

    So many opportunities to grow plants out there all so you could even hang them off of your railing. Be sure and a drainage holes it's bottom of the Rosemary container it will rain and they will drown.
    A distressed antique screen door wood look amazing on that backspace. If you find one be sure you don't send it and paint it just leave it distressed. Looks so beautiful that way

    To protect the ottomans from rain you can buy that thick plastic made for that kind of thing. I've got them at Walmart in California so don't know where you'd find it across the pond. But it folds up( comes that way actually) and you keep it inside the ottomans, pull it out when it rains.
    Great job!!
    Not sure if you're interested but you could get some lanterns to hand on the railing, use citronella candles in them. Would add to your ambiance too :))
