The British are the master's of this style of film. No one does it better. They have led the way for others but they remain unsurpassed. Riveting stuff...
I am thoroughly enjoying this series of Adam Dalgleish as they tend to follow the PD James novels very precisely without to much variation from the books.
In real life, during times of trials, when - under pressure - masks come off, and hidden snakes are revealed... How many of us do not turn out to display horrible traits - making us outright unlovable? However, there's Someone who knows our hearts, and every single thing there is to know about us, and He loves us anyway 🤗🙏
Yes, a building or any given place unfortunately can be infused with evil. Concerning the conclusion of this episode: One never knows what's lurking beneath murky waters... At least every time someone turns up dead, another suspect is ruled out... One wonders with the remainder: Who of them will be next?
8:07? Yes, thought so too 😅 However, in real life crime documentaries, most often acquaintances of victims - carried out in body bags - do describe the deceased in glowing terms; such as 'lighting up a room with their smile', and 'would willingly give the shirt off their backs to someone in need'... Unfortunately rarely murder victims are the meanest of scoundrels, with many having a possible motive for killing them.
I agree with some of the commenters that the earlier 6-Episode versions of the stories were better, even if a bit long. However, Marsden is still good in these. Don't quite understand the bad horror movie type of score (sounds like "Dr. Tongue's 3D House of Pancakes" from the SCTV shows) and silly dialogue like, "And make sure to get COMMANDER DALGLIESH." The older shows didn't need to need such ridiculously overt lines. Nevertheless, Marsden's performance seem to carry it through.
The 6-episode ones are only that long because they fill 4 episodes-worth of the time with people just withholding information. "I didn't think it was relevant". An old, tired, boring, over-used, simplistic, unoriginal tool. Nothing clever about it.
I agree it's a pretty tenuous twist in the plot, but I also think PDJ knew it could happen in the real world. The child, to her credit, was both loyal and honest in the end.
@rayof 315 Telling lies and withholding information is the ONLY ploy that pdj seems to ever use. I keep watching these (for the first time), but in terms of the interactions and investigation, it makes them boring as hell.

💯Agree excellent.
Thanks Rudolf! Glad I came upon another Dagliesh series. Thanks for upload.
Thank you for these series.
Thank you for all these , absolutely great viewing
Great series! Great episode!

Sadly, even the Brits aren't like this anymore. They change book stories instead of respecting the creative work of the authors.
Terrific mystery. Thanks.
I recognize so many of these actors from poirot and midsummer murders
I Thoroughly enjoyed.
Thank you!
'Careful of the snake' Commander A. Dalgliesh 🤣
Enjoyed the movie. Thanks.
Love the guy playing dead
... and slowly spitting out the tape 😅
What I have found about the characters in this series is that they are all horrible people I would not want to have known in "real life".

Good to see Inan Bannan.
Sadly, this was one of the last things he was in - he died just two years after this in a freak traffic accident.

👏👏👏👏👏👏❤❤❤
Continuing to enjoy this mystery.
"The answer lies in the present; not the past..." From experience, this statement is often far from the truth.
Original sin
I'm surprised the captions are so bad...were they like this from the beginning? Could they be corrected? Thank you.
I’m confused. I thought the lady with the tooth was his fiancé not sister sister.
8:17 Good answer!🤣
8:07? Yes, thought so too 😅

@@numbereightyseven and, yet you watched all of them and continued to do so, smh
suspenseful
nice one
This one definitely has an inferior feel to the earlier ones I've seen.
_For god sake, get rid of that bloody snake--it makes this place look like a nursery._
I am a Sinner but I am not that original...
The dead man has very rosy cheeks.
The room was very warm...Gas poisoning?
Asking a child to provide an alibi. How stupid! As a writer she should know better.

The child is old enough to lie well, at this point...especially, if she believes her friend has done nothing wrong.

That's rich. Labeling Ms. James. Humans lie, and they do it all the time.
Also evil to be grooming a child, and then use them like this. In a way similar to parents manipulating their children to kill for them.
