Cmaas86 The only thing I find more obnoxious than the ridiculous subcategorization of music (or boxing as you put it) is when people flip shit about the subcategorization when no one was even doing it. They were saying it's stylistically similar to a specific artist, not that it fits in whatever subgenre or "box." That's like if I heard a new song by Scar Symmetry and pointed out that some of the riffs were similar to what you'd find in early Metallica, and then someone started yelling at me that "what does it matter if it's melodic death metal or thrash metal, it's still awesome stop trying to box it in"
No one's trying to box anything in. They're saying, "Hey, this is kinda similar to another band I like! Neat!"

two things.
one, i found a dubstep shotgun on gmods workshop. its awesome for two reason. its just plain awesome, and it lead me here. if you play gmod and have not found it, i suggest looking for it now.
secondly, the sound that plays at the end of the song is a soundi remember being available on freesound.org because i use to have my sound scheme set up so the sound would play when something disconnected from my computer. nothing bad about it, i just think its cool that i used the sound on my computer. lol

He didn't make the genre. The genre has been around for years. One of the first that I know of is Skream. He's wayyyy older than Skrillex. I do like Skrillex and have a lot of his songs and he is the one that got me into the EDM picture, but I'm just saying he didn't make the genre.
Sorry to correct you but I am 13. I had heard of dubstep before Skrillex. I would always look what electronic music was out there and I found dubstep. Although Skrillex made it more popular, it doesn't make him good. It kinda put a bad mark on dubstep for having weird noises.
This genre is called complextro... dont mix it with dubstep... its faster :S

Every dubstep video pre-Skrillex had almost no views. When Skrillex made dubstep mainstream, all the dub videos had view spikes. Take it from me who has been on youtube since '08.

I'm curious to why Beatport would categorize him as a dubstep producer if he isn't one. Beatport is probably the largest underground promoter / distributer of electronic music. I'd rather believe Beatport than a ignorant twelve year old.

Whenever I listen to this song, I imagine a little Asian kid playing in an arcade. One of the video games messes up and the monster comes to life and starts chasing the kid throughout the arcade. The he goes to laser tag, grabs a laser gun and starts fighting back. It ends with him shooting the monster back into the game and getting tons of coins in return.

Well, technically they both make dubstep, but the two are very similar, I like to look at it as klayplex and flux pavilion on the far left, very technoy sounds and less junkyard stuff, then on the far right you have your dirty junkyard dubstep like Ajapai and Skrillex, sorry for the little rant but idk haha :D

Because Skrillex is literally the face of dubstep ( sadly ) although hes not that good at all, he seems to be the most famous dubstep producer. Whenever someone think about dubstep, skrillex comes onto their mind. I know its sad but thats the truth man.
Eh trust me from personal experience you really can't. Even if these guys have no record label right now if they ever get one in the future whatever video it is the sound will be either muted or the video will be taken down. Happened to me several times ~_~
