I don't know for sure, but it must be "common enough" for Google to offer to replace them so easily. Yeah, not the answer you were looking for... sorry... good luck!

How common is this issue? Trying to get one replaced. My big worry is that I have two of these and that they're both from the same bad batch.

I have gone through 2 thermostat in 4 months. Same dam issue. Wifi being damaged. 😞

Yes, it happened today, reset a lot of setting, which did not help. At last online agent decided to send me a new one.
Just tweeted at them. Hopefully I can get mind fixed or replaced.
