      Keep em in the house for a bit! Heat will make em a little more friendly! You’ll be alright.. unless you’ve got a 17” rear! 😲

    I agree mate - I dread putting these tires on. I couldn't imagine doing it on the side of the road

    Awesome video, I’m just about to change the factory tyres on my T7 to Anakee Wild, but I’ll be honest it makes me nervous on how it will be trying to repair a puncture in the middle of nowhere 😂

    Using the tyre lever correctly but definitely finish at the valve because it gives the tyre more room get some fitting paste from tyre service.
    USE TALCUM POWDER it reduces heat build up by allowing the tube to move in the case

      Talc and fitting paste ordered! Many thanks!

    Hello, if you leave the tire in the sun for an hour or two before you change it, it softens them up a bit. Not a huge change, but every bit helps. :)

      True true, shame that I always find myself changing the tyres in every season but summer. Great for staying warm but balls for changing tyres. :D

    Installed them on my ktm 500 exc, used a normal motorcycle tire change tool...... still very difficult to install its a very stiff tire.
    Normally I have no problem changing tires (road 5, tec7) but this one kicked my ass.

      Glad it’s not just me! Tried changing the 17” rear anakee on my girlfriends bmw g650x. Couldn’t even get it off the bead. Ended up taking it to bmw. Kid that just does tyres all day said it’s the hardest change he’s ever done.

      what did you think of them? I was looking at putting some on my ktm 525

    • @andrekikkert2787
      @andrekikkert2787 3 роки тому +1

      @@NZ2STROKE I used them just a couple of rides that were mostly on the road. They did a good job keeping me on the road, but I am not a speed devil :-). It was mostly dry weather so no experience what they do in the wet.

    Well done, you made it look easy. What are you using for the tyre lube?

      Thanks... First tyre was visor cleaner but then i remembered where i'd put the glass cleaner.

      0k thanks for that, I’ll try that on my next change. Looking at Anakee Wilds for my T7, but still debating if there be ok on road, in the cold wet conditions.

    I've got the Swedish version of your bike. Like you, I like the Anakee Wild. Changed one of these bastard tyres once. Now bracing myself to change them again. I have a Rabaconda. Not sure it is going to make any difference. I can change Mx Or enduro tyres easily. Anakee Wilds, the worst I've ever changed. 2 big issues. If these puncture on the trails they are a bitch to repair. When it happened the tyre is so stiff I rode home 20 miles on tarmac, getting up to 50mph. It felt fine, like it was 20psi. Thanks for sharing your pain brother. I feel it. And will feel it. When my Wilds wear out.

      Oddly enough I was rethinking my tyre situation when this comment appeared... This is also my fear on the trail! If I get a puncture I know I could sort it but it will drain me dry especially in really low temp situations... Once the big bore rebuild is done I suspect the bike will start eating rear tyres for brunch so I think i'm gonna start trying a few different adventure tyres that are a bit more dirt focused and for street SM setup i'll get some tyres that are a little less hypersport focused.
      There's also the tubeliss option. But in my experience.. If a nail goes through (and it's almost always a bloody nail), it goes deep!

    • @TheIdlesurfer
      @TheIdlesurfer 3 роки тому

      @@RideyBikes Meh, Tubliss. I've had 2 Tubliss failures. I was surprised how well a flat Anakee Wild ran. I've got 2 sets of wheels. One on mousses and Mitas Enduro tyres. My adventure set up, I do a lot of TET, is Anakee Wilds. But I'm trying Motoz Rallz for Portugal TET in a few weeks. But I managed to get home on a totally flat Anakee Wild. Rim intact. The search for the perfect tyre goes on ...

  • @Steve-ml8nl

    Should you get a Rabaconda? Probably not necessary, but you should cut a hole in your table so the rim sits on it + the hub/disk falls in the hole. Stops the thing rolling about + also stops you bending your disk...

    • @RideyBikes

      It's almost always a question of space. If I could find a Rabaconda or something similar that packs down into a very small space and doesn't cost a fortune i'd probably get it.

  • @TheIdlesurfer

    We have both suffered fitting Anakee Wilds. Which Motoz are you using? I'm on Rallz and I'm happy with them, and having mounted them, they are no harder to mount than Enduro tyres. On the Wilds I needed a no pinch tool, some exuberant swearing, approximately half a litre of blood and lost most of my will to live. I've used the Rallz doing TET Portugal which was largely dry, but I thought they were okay on the little bit of mud we hit and okay on steady wet tarmac. We had one day of biblical rain which we did about 120km of tarmac.

    • @RideyBikes
      @RideyBikes  3 роки тому +1

      I'm still unsure about what i'm gonna go with when the Anakee Wilds are done. I think i'm gonna accept that i've got supermoto wheels for fast street and track riding and go (fairly) full off road with the other wheels. Lots of people rate the Rallz. I'm intrigued by the Michelin Trackers.. i've always loved the Motoz Tractionator Enduro ST/IT (although slightly scary on wet tarmac) and they certainly perform better in the dirt than the Anakees, so I think I might try the Trackers as they appear to be Michelins answer to the Motoz Tractionator enduro range... and they're cheap!

    • @TheIdlesurfer
      @TheIdlesurfer 3 роки тому

      @@RideyBikes I'll have a look at those Trackers but I think my dirt tyre is the Rallz. I've gone 2 sets of wheels. Full on enduro for muddy lanes, Rallz for adventure or general use, Avon Trails for summer and road work, but the wheels that stay on 9 - 10 months of the year have Rallz on them.

    Weird though how some tyres can be a pain for some and not others. The last tyre I fitted was a super soft maxxis trial maxx but my god I nearly needed therapy afterwards, it took hours (and three inner tubes) whereas the anakee wilds I installed today took no more than 10 minutes each (for the actual leavering). No issues at all. Weird.

    • @RideyBikes
      @RideyBikes  2 роки тому

      Agreed... I remembered after making the video that the Anakee Wilds that I REALLY struggled with were actually the 17 inch rear on the BMW G650X Country. So hard to fit that I eventually caved in and took it to BMW. The tyre guy there said it was the hardest tyre he'd ever put on. Even the machine struggled. Who knows what we would've done if we'd gotten a puncture out on the trails.👍🏽

    You should warm the tire before mounting it. This makes the rubber a little bit softer!
