Plus there is NO reason you can't have both. IT CAN be done. They just don't want to take the effort to do so.. plus they want planned obsolescence so you buy a new phone regularly
Agreed. I may have to risk slight wet-ness on my V20 once a week. But the battery switching option (basically INSTANT charging) is an every-day feature. What I think would be really cool is if there was a mini built in battery that allowed you to switch the removable battery without turning the phone off. :D that would be an awesome feature. Like, the backup gives about 5 min of run time, and can also be used if the main battery runs dry (for an additional few minutes). If I were LG, I'd look into stuff like that.
The V20 still looks better. I get compliments all the time. Plus I carry a spare battery with me and it's so much more convenient than carrying a power bank and cord. V20 for the win imho
It doesn't look better. The V30 last much longer than the V20 so if you leave it charging while asleep it will last from morning to midnight with normal use. With heavy use it still lasts almost the whole day and night.
Anthony J v20 has a original feature with the second screen. V30 is just a bezeless copycat phone. With no expandability making it obsolete if the battery messes up which it always does.
The battery won't mess up for a really long time. The V30 should last at least 2-3 years before any problems with the battery would happen. No one even keeps the same phone for 2 years or more at least I don't. By then I would own the V40 or V45 whatever they call it.
ray33 simple.... Don't sell out and buy a new phone only buy the phones with the features you actually want. People don't understand if you don't buy their trash they call a flagship then they'll be forced to bring back features that we obviously use.
I just chose the V20 over the V30 because I like the removable battery..which not only allows me to use another battery in emergency situations..but also lets me purchase a larger battery with 3 times the power of the standard one. That's a HUGE convenience. And since I don't plan on using my phone in a pool, rainstorm or beach..water resistance is not important nor has it ever been. It seems the main reason people are choosing the V30 is for the better pic/video features..especially content producers like the Mr. Bagnell in this video. But for regular joe's like me that aren't into selfies or making vids..the V20's replaceable/upgradeable battery is THE reason to get it..since it already has premium sound/pic capabilities. As long as this thing doesn't suffer the bootloop issue my G4 had..I'll be happy.
Does anyone remember the galaxy 5 and its water resistance? Not sure what it was rated but it had removable battery... No one can implement something like that
Problem was it didn't really work. If you spilled liquid on it, then it was sealed well, but even a minor drop would often cause the back to pop open enough to let some moisture in. If we're really trying to maintain a higher level of survivability, sealing the battery compartment is the way to go.
Tom Boston uber driver / Auto Appeal Detailing . Oh I remember and people will be quick to say that it isn't the same but yet it is. It has been and can still be done better yet no manufacturer wants to do that way they can force you into having to buy new phones and chargers when yours eventually diminishes.
JuanBagnell wanna know something funny tho?.... I threw my phone(Galaxy S5) in the pool like a dummy😂😂 and the back came off so water got inside and it stopped working for 2 days, but then it started working again, typing on it rn😂😂...love this phone🤗

To put it simply...it has a beautiful design that is not appreciated by majority. The word ugly was used to describe the v20 because it did not conform to the design that the majority considered to be "pretty" (i.e. glass back etc.). Ah! The internet... :D
Yeah, me too. But people don't buy "charmingly ugly". A shame. I don't mind a phone that looks like a truck. Not all phones need to be Italian roadsters...
sigh...please don't be rude and aggressive. you seem to not be a regular on this channel since you didn't get the "charmingly ugly" thing. it's a compliment to its unique aesthetic that didn't conform to the popular "pretty" design.
I've just bought a used V20 and passed over a V30. The reasons I chose the V20 over the V30 are: * Removable battery means I can charge spares while I use the phone. * I also have the option of aftermarket extended batteries if I choose. * In a year or two the internal V30 battery will start to degrade. If I open it to replace it myself then will it still be waterproof? * IR Blaster.
I really love the remove-able battery but the water resistance is so hard to not want as well, my V10 always gets oily as it's so hot in Singapore and it makes me want to wash it.
Th3RealestKid yea buddy looks like I'm going to keep my v20 for a while. At least until they start coming out with real power user phones instead of the trash that they want people to think are flagships.
yup second screen is a better feature than anyone gives it credit for. The removable battery is key to me. Extends the useful life of a phone, now that each new phone is a very minor evolution, not a revolution like they used to be. A glass (ie more delicate) back is a downgrade IMO. No second screen, no removable battery, no metal back= me keeping my v20 longer than I usually do. At least it will keep my cell phone bill lower!
@johnmade69 I still don't trust LG after having a bowl of bootloops twice. I don't care how pretty this phone is. , I can't trust LG again. Strike two, you're out!
ECDT1089 It was the snapdragon 808 cpu do your research. Every phone that had that processor had bootloop. Lg replaced my 17 month old G4 that bootlooped free of charge.
am still rocking my LG V10 still working perfectly! thought about getting the V20 to replace it but i didn't see any thing different between the two. But am interested in the V30 as the upgrade
No one has mentioned OIS/ EIS in these V30 overviews. Why? Also this is set to release last September. I hope to see reviews being made with retail units and not pre production ones
Interested to see how much you can pull back with the Log profile. I can already pull back a lot of highlights and shadows while still maintaining colour accuracy on just a slightly flat colour profile on a Nikon D5500 in an MP4 but that is with a larger apsc sensor, not a mobile one.
What about the bootloop problem, have they fixed it? Two of the three V10's we have had to be replaced because of it. Don't feel good about buying anymore LG phones until they address it.
Where is the power button on this phone? I know it has a finger print sensor on the black and volume buttons on the side but how do you initially switch the phone on without a power button? Also if somehow in the future you need to do a factory reset sequence, where is the power button???
I can't wait to test the audio of the V30 with Tidal, as it supports MQA hardware decoding. I absolutely love MQA on my Meridian Explorer 2, and can't wait to see how MQA performs on the V30. Hopefully the Tidal app gets support for MQA soon.
It appears even with the 2nd screen removed on the V30 the screen is still the same size without it. So what's the point? I understand you can put 3TB in the v30 but I think I'm sticking with the v20 since I use that 2nd screen A LOT
Smaller camera sensors, tighter wide angle lens, no ticker display, less screen width, no IR, no removable back, no option for a dual sim model that allows 2 sims and an SD. Sounds like such an improvement... A wider aperture is irrelevant with a smaller sensor, the f number is based on focal length and iris opening, and with a smaller sensor the focal length has to be shorter to maintain the field of view, Steven if it lets the same amount of light in, the f number will be lower and idiots will think it’s better. My V10 just died from overheating desoldering the CPU (annoyingly common in power users) and I’d love to get a V30 now but I can’t overlook all the disadvantages and the difference in price. So looks like I’m going to buy a dual sim V20
wait what the heck why get rid of the second screen?? wasnt that like the main gimmick of the v series? also the ir blaster is so useful when you dont want to use a remote. just why get rid of it? i was going to update from the v20 for the water resistance and amoled but that doesnt seem as likely now
I have never ever had a phone damaged due to water, so water resistance means nothing to me. Not sure what happened to just 'look after your phone'. Currently owning a V20 which I had to import from Korea just so I could get a phone to basically replace the features of my Note edge (removable battery, IR blaster, even an edge with a separate screen) To pay hundreds of pounds to lose those features and gain a design which basically looks similar to every phone coming out, slightly better camera and an oled screen makes absolutely no financial sense to me. I guess when my v20 dies, i'll just get another v20. Good thing about the V30...the V20 will be much cheaper. Can never go back to carrying a powerbrick and a usb wire in my pocket when I hit a nightclub, just in case my phone dies again...
I still use the ir blaster on my V10 when I can't find the remote. I do like the new upgrades but the losing of the second screen I have to see it for myself.
It's a bit weird that they didn't carry over the completely flush design of the G6, could've made the phone the same thickness as the G6 to include a larger battery. And it's also weird that a phone with a larger display than the G6 is actually 5 g lighter, is it because of ditching the LCD that removes the need for the heavy backlight unit?
I would love to see a compact phone with specs like the big ones (Note 8, V30 and so on) Why do we have to go bigger and bigger? I already have a big phone and it's a terrible size in my opinion. Maybe I'm not alone at this one.
Juan you know me from the original V10 and now V20 but I am all in on this V30. For the small hassle of losing classic features in removable battery and IR blaster, the V30 has gained a ton of improvements without sacrificing the spirit that made the series so important to me. The floating bar UX is far more reachable and sensible that the second screen. All in a pretty package that should appeal to a wider audience outside of all the extras the V30 has going for it. Other than the more prominent name brand and Samsung Pay, I don't see why more people wouldn't choose this over the inevitable sales champs that Samsung makes.
I hope the image retention problem that was on every LG device I had isn't on this one though The G4, Stylo 1, V10, G5, Stylo 2, and the G6 all had this issue for me
Watching this from my V20... Love the bigger OLED screen, sleek design, and waterproofing. Might miss the swappable battery and small secondary screen. Not too keen on the glass back though. The mil-spec toughness of the past V's were a selling point to many, even if they weren't water resistant.
I can't wait your audio review with this new beast Juan. Can this bad boy dethrone the reigning, defending audio champ V20? It's yet to be seen but I'm Sooooooo EXCITED!!! So much more to cover with it's features and of course.... Video quality. I cant contain my excitement. Sorry 'bout that. :D
Cool! IP68, OLED display technology, and wireless charging...Much improvement in the on-board video features I see, but then again, that's what the "V" has always stood for...With the V-Series, you could always actually get by without a 3rd-party mobile video editing app, but now, you might not even need out-of-unit post processing whatsoever! Still camera functions are what you would expect - again geared at the "pro" in PROductivity...A few extras in the Quad-DAC software this year, with a few EQ-type presets...Nice! I realize it's too early to tell, but the V30 might become a threat to the disappointment that is the Note 8 over time...
That G4 wobble always bugged me, but I still loved that phone, until its bugs started to show... screen colour temp too red, ridiculous screen burns with apparently no relation to how long the screen is on or off, camera monumental shutter lag, and the phone lost several app icons on the home screen every time you rebooted
I had originally wanted the HTC u11 because of its beautiful design, speakers, UI and snappy performance (I also currently have an HTC phone and love blinkfeed), but this phone seems to the be the whole package. If the sound quality and DAC measure up to the u11, and if it's performance is just as smooth and responsive, I'll be sold on this device. I'll just have to find another news consumption app to replace blinkfeed and actually find a remote to use for my entertainment systems as I mourn the IR blaster
A quick question in you're own opinion what one do you think is a better quality a much better phone Note 8 or LG 30? I know at the end of the day or beginning of the day it depends on what is compatible with a user but in your opinion what do you think
Multimedia Monster? No! but almost. . Look at that paltry 5MP front camera, LG could at least put 8MP camera with EIS there as it would benefit vloggers the most
I'm sad I had to replace my phone a month and a half ago. I wanted to wait for the V30 but went with the, at the time, accessible V20 instead. Can't say I'm disappointed with the V20. though. Love the removable battery.
im a bit disappointed to see no longer a removable back, the ability to swap out a battery instantly so such a useful feature. I really dont see the waterproof feature to even come half as useful as the removable battery. I might for the V40, happy with my v20
Ok, I know that if we use Headphone or IEM, it'll sounds good but I already had AK DAP so I won't need it ... What I need is the great sounds of the speaker ... Is the speaker any good in this V30? FYI, I already had Zte Axon 7 & Sony Xperia XZ Performance but if there's any new smartphone with Snapdragon 835 & speaker quality min as par as Axon 7, I'll retire my Axon 7 ... :)
It's a great phone. But is it better than the S8 Plus tho. I feel like it's a great phone in a different way vs the S8 Plus. For every feature I love about the V30 their is a feature I love about the S8 Plus
I still prefer the removable battery and IR blaster and it's not like phones haven't had removable backs with water Ingress Protection you just have to make sure the back was properly clipped back on
I just chose the V20 over the V30 because I like the removable battery..which not only allows me to use another battery in emergency situations..but also lets me purchase a larger battery with 3 times the power of the standard one. Downside they moved the jack to the top by the camera. That's bad for the content creator that uses an external mic like the RODE that clips on. The FREAKIN mic will be in the shot AND I don't wanna rig for my phone. Oh well I'll keep enjoying my v20 until the price drops on the v30. The v30 looks great by the way
I have mixed feelings about the V30 I really like the ir blaster, and removable battery it seems like it's nothing really to distinguish it besides audio.
Why do manufacturers keep removing the IR blaster?
Audi Ahmad it's a relic of the past.
James Koh And so is the headphone jack, but still is useful. Is that really the actual reason?
Well, if you consider smart homes, most ir are being gradually swapped out for WiFi control through Siri, Google home and echo. Smart TV also have some sort of voice control. Ir blaster are phased out as appliance are phasing it out.
Audi Ahmad headphone jack has been replaced by something far superior in every way except for price which will go down the more people use it and switch from old tech to new tech
Audi Ahmad because they're scumbags and want to make you buy what they want you to buy. They don't care about your wants and needs.
Removable battery > Water resistance
Plus there is NO reason you can't have both. IT CAN be done. They just don't want to take the effort to do so.. plus they want planned obsolescence so you buy a new phone regularly

Waiting on a review for the Quad dac between the V20 vs V30
can't wait for the camera review!!!
Does it have mhl/hdmi support?
V30, Note 8, iPhone 8, Pixel XL2 or Galaxy S8? I'm leaning toward V30 even though I'd like to migrate from LG UI.
I still use the ir blaster on my V10 when I can't find the remote. I do like the new upgrades but the losing of the second screen I have to see it for myself.
Great comparison video. What is the name of the clock widget on your V30? Thanks
After 1 year usage. My V20 cost 3 battery lifes in a day, and my brother's V30 still catch over 12 hours life time for 1 charge each day.
Will it be sold in Europe
@pocketnow Is the rear camera flush like with the G6, or does it protrude?
Judging by the video, it seems to me that it protrudes a little, but nowhere close to the V20's cameras.
The housing sticks out a little. You can see in one of our panning shots, it's a lot more discreet than the V20.
I would love to see a compact phone with specs like the big ones (Note 8, V30 and so on)
Why do we have to go bigger and bigger?
I hope the image retention problem that was on every LG device I had isn't on this one though
The G4, Stylo 1, V10, G5, Stylo 2, and the G6 all had this issue for me
So is the V30 going to be your V20 replacement when filming your episodes?
I have never owned a LG phone. Almost got the V20 to replace my Note7 but that boot loop issue with LG phones is what keeps me away.
Watching this from my V20... Love the bigger OLED screen, sleek design, and waterproofing. Might miss the swappable battery and small secondary screen. Not too keen on the glass back though. The mil-spec toughness of the past V's were a selling point to many, even if they weren't water resistant.
Phrancis5 the V30 has the same mil-spec rating
I can't wait your audio review with this new beast Juan. Can this bad boy dethrone the reigning, defending audio champ V20? It's yet to be seen but I'm Sooooooo EXCITED!!! So much more to cover with it's features and of course.... Video quality. I cant contain my excitement. Sorry 'bout that. :D
How's that app I see you use alot friendly for Facebook is it good reviews please
is that SENNHEISER HD 599 3:10
That G4 wobble always bugged me, but I still loved that phone, until its bugs started to show... screen colour temp too red, ridiculous screen burns with apparently no relation to how long the screen is on or off, camera monumental shutter lag, and the phone lost several app icons on the home screen every time you rebooted
leiya107 That is actually the G-Flex 2 that Juan is playing.
Yup. Flex 2. Electric boogaloo.
Cinema wide videos?
Are those camera sensors made by Sony & Samsung?
A quick question in you're own opinion what one do you think is a better quality a much better phone Note 8 or LG 30? I know at the end of the day or beginning of the day it depends on what is compatible with a user but in your opinion what do you think
I really enjoy the pocket now videos with you Juan Carlos than with Jaime... I wish you'd make more
I need my removable battery more than any of the "improvements" the v30 has
Multimedia Monster? No! but almost. .
Look at that paltry 5MP front camera, LG could at least put 8MP camera with EIS there as it would benefit vloggers the most
Looks like we have a winner here!!!
I'm sad I had to replace my phone a month and a half ago. I wanted to wait for the V30 but went with the, at the time, accessible V20 instead. Can't say I'm disappointed with the V20. though. Love the removable battery.
anyone used that new feature-floating shortcuts- like 3 years ago on custom roms?
im a bit disappointed to see no longer a removable back, the ability to swap out a battery instantly so such a useful feature.
Hells favorite angel mike u still havent answered my question😠😠
V30's the way to go.
It's closer to the Note 8, but without the S Pen, the Note 8 won't even stand a chance.
V30 will be my new device in 6 or 7 months.
I need help on decide which device I should get lg g4 lg g5 or lg v20
AlexH42 v20 for sure, the g4 was sweet but its too old now.
Canada launch date?
This looks better than the Note 8 IMO. Think it will be between this, the Pixel 2 and iphone 8 for my next phone.
Loving the v30 can't wait till it's avaible in europe
Finally! A phone worth upgrading to from my V20!
Damn, that LOG sample looks smooth!
Even no oversharpening visible. Call me impressed. :)
I still prefer the removable battery and IR blaster and it's not like phones haven't had removable backs with water Ingress Protection you just have to make sure the back was properly clipped back on
LG V30 vs LG G6 please!
So....can U control ur TV?
V30 Wallpaper please?

Thank you so much for sharing this dear brother 😊🌎✨
This is a great looking tablet. I hope someone makes a smartphone with flagship specs this year.
Was that Scorpion Alien!? Damn, I had that toy way back in the 90's! Awesome!
Can you play games like PubG or Creative Destruction (Android fortnite) in full quality display without issues on the V20??
if i was getting a new phone this year it would definitely be this one
A worthy phablet to go against the Note8. I'm impressed.
As always JCB best in detailing on a reviews and V30 is Rocking Power👍👍👍
Is the V30 + (PLUS) A 6GB Version??
i think what they are considering the Plus is 128gb storage instead of 64.
The v30 looks great by the way
I have mixed feelings about the V30 I really like the ir blaster, and removable battery it seems like it's nothing really to distinguish it besides audio.
officially my dream phone
Loving my v20, if it dies the Vxx will be my next go to
