The Boston Rag is my third favorite Steely Dan song, and is a two/three times a week listen. Love the Zappa-esque opening, and Jeff (Skunk)Baxter going off on guitar. A song about someone ODing sounding fabulous?! Only Steely Dan... Razor Boy: vibes!! Got my daily Dan fix in, thanks RIP Walter Becker
I really enjoyed these two songs! Listening to the vibraphone reminded me of my jazz days when I saw Lionel Hampton. He was such a masterful vibraphone player. I liked the guitar work on “The Boston Rag”.
Sweet! Yes, the vibraphone is such a beautiful instrument sonically. Stellar guitar, was either Jeff or Denny according to Wiki. More awesomeness to come this weekend!!
Razor Boy has always been my favorite from CTE. Any song with a vibraphone interlude is good enough for me. Great reactions as usual. Check out a song that never made one of their albums called Mr Sam.
Was happy, after choosing these, to go back in the past comments and see that you like TBR! Was also great to get back into CTE album. Much more Steely to go!
Hello Brandon! 🥰I know it has no relation to this but when I listen to Razor Boy, I think of a warm summer evening-sipping a margarita. Just a calming tune.
In the later albums Donald used background vocalist to sing the chorus. This I feel comes from Donald being more confident in his own vocal ability. The early albums, Donald would often double tracked his lead vocal then flood it with harmony in the choruses. It's great to listen to this unique band evolve.
Love it Brandon! Can I once again recommend Madness's two last albums, Keep Moving and Mad Not Mad, which are the two most perfect produced albums I ever heard, and you know how picky I am... All the best my dear 😊
Love these "different lane" Steely songs..the delivery is top tier as always! Thanks for watching! 🥰

There wasn't then, either...

CSNY had already released albums before this came out. And while these are two of my favorite Dan songs CSNY was first.

Great reaction to these song buddy. I concur with your ratings Brandon! Razor Boy has a fantastic groove and Boston Rag builds to an epic solo.

They kept the harmonies in chum. You just didn't notice..... 😀
Gorgeous; and all over the place. I forgive you - you unfailingly dig Steely Dan.

I appreciate the different lanes. And whoever writes their lyrics is incredible. 😊💙🎵🎶🎶🎶
Looks like Donald and Walter wrote all the lyrics and music, at least for this album. What a duo!! Such a powerful and impactful body of work!...😍
Yes powerful duo, indeed. 👍 Very crafty guys. 💙🎵🎶🎶
Excited for the rest of the songs coming this weekend!
I'm excited to. Let's Goooooooo!! 😃
CSN&Y copied this sound.
I am a Steely Dan fan, but these two tracks are pretty boring, IMO.
OK, thanks for giving them a go!
I'm a Steely Dan Superfan, and I think they're great: Your move......
