It was mesmerizing and so beautifully done that I couldn't take my eyes off it. It was so realistic and frightening in my mind. I empathize with the main character at times. It's an incredible fantasy, and the insane story about vampires with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt was just splendid. They didn't just act; they embodied those creatures, vampires...🥶 😱

Kirsten Duntz gave an amazing child performance in this movie. Her scenes were riveting. This is my favorite vampire movie.
I disagree. Her performance was mediocre, honestly. The only emotion she could manifest well was over the top hysterics. She did that well. The range ended there.

Claudia was truly the most tragic character. Played magnificently by Kirsten Dunst, she would have been better off with her mother, dying of plague.
If interested in Claudia, I'd highly recommend the graphic novel, "Interview with a vampire: Claudia's Story". It gives the character a different perspective; leading up to her death.
Anne Rice created the girl turned vampire in the story as a creative way of processing her grief of her daughter dying of leukemia at age five ( in the book the character is age 5 ).
Lestat knew everything but swore to never tell, and he had special powers as he had the Queen's blood in him

Anne Rice, author of the novel that this movie based had concerns about Tom Cruise portraying Lestat until she had a special screening. Then she changed her mind and agreed to Cruise's portrayal.
The new TV show is an exquisitely crafted and succeeds in taking the original story and doing something refreshing and a little different with it. It only has one season out now, but season 2 is coming soon. Highly recommend!
Lestat owned the Theater of the Vampires
This is one that is a " ...cusp above " films from the 90s.
The music was one of two Oscar nominations this movie received.

There was some serious doubt casting Tom Cruise as 'Lestat' by Anne Rice and the critics, but he proved that he could pull it off. Once when my then-wife and I were in New Orleans, we were able to go to some of the filming locations particularly in the Garden District. The small room at the very beginning where 'Louis' meets Christian Slater first met was truly small and they actually made it seem a bit bigger with camera angles. When going by Anne Rice's home there would be people casually walking by, but you could tell they were mesmerized by it and was hoping to catch a glimpse of her or her husband.
Phenomenal acting! The whole cast.
Director Neil Jordan also did a werewolf movie in the 80s - In The Company Of Wolves
In the books, Claudia is only 4 years old. She was so tiny she used to climb luí onto his shoulders. She was 84 years old at the time of her true death.
Kirsten Dunst was amazing and mature beyond her years as an actress in this performance . Kids now recognize her from Spider-Man .

The AMC series, in my opinion, takes the cake. As someone whos read the novels, I do prefer the series, but the movie always remains so timeless and amazing
The AMC tv series version is so intensely graphic but also really good.

One of the best vampire genre movie of all the time .Anne Rice the author of the book didnt really wanted Tom to play Lestat because she was thinking that he was not so good as an actor to portray a complex character like Lestat.
Well, this is one of the best vampire movies, but my favorite vampire movie, and indeed one of my favorite movies of all time, is Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), and it would be great to see a reaction to it. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather movies you know) and starring Gary Oldman as The Count himself. :)

I must confess I have never had much of an interest in vampire movies until the year 2008.
This movie back in 2008 was such a stunning film and certainly a rarity, and yes it is the Swedish movie titled LET THE RIGHT ONE IN.
Such a delicate and haunting film which if you haven’t seen maybe give it a chance and make your own mind up 😊

Cruise is a terrific Lestat but it's Kirsten Dunst as Claudia who steals the movie. She's phenominal portraying the tragedy of Claudia.

Loved seeing you vibing with the soundtrack! It's one of my favourites to this day. The movie is such a masterpiece of atmosphere; the sound, visuals, script, and the acting. It's just about the perfect gothic historical. It couldn't be more gothic 😂

The actress that plays the little girl Claudia is Kirsten Dunst. You know her as MJ from the Tobey McGuire Spider-Man films as an adult. The roughest part of the film is when they kill Claudia and he woman with sunlight.☀😢 We do see why it is a crime to make a vampire so young, as they can never grow into an adult. Yes! I ADORE Tom Cruise in this film, and I'm not a big Tom Cruise fan. I find him at his best in atypical villainous roles (watch the film 'Collateral,' if you haven't!). He is such a charismatic snake and outperforms Brad in every scene. I remember when the film was in production and word got out Tom was to play Lestat, Anne Rice (the author of the novel) was apoplectic and publicly stated he was the wrong person for the role (ouch) but after seeing the film, changed her tune and said no one else could have done it better. Ha ha :)

if you read the books from anne rice you find out that lestat (tom cruise) was the good of the story and that louis told just his point of view of the story making him the good guy

Not a big Ann Rice movie fan (I do like her books). Not A Cruise fan either, but aside from that, great set design, wonderfully scored, overall, a well done film.

Queen of the Damned had some of the same characters but different actors. It's also based on the Anne Rice novels. The books were really good......I don't recommend watching the movie

@@nightfall902 it's an awesome depiction of a vampire, very raw and medieval vampire like. Sure sometimes I enjoy the sexy/cool vampire type but in my opinion the best ones (if done right) are the cursed monsters that were usually depicted in medieval stories.
This is the perfect vampire movie! Ann Rice's masterpiece was done perfectly. The storyline and cinematography is excellently done to perfection. Tom Cruise played the role and stole the show! This one is great on a Saturday night with a significant other.

Being a vampire would be a horrible curse. You would spend most of your time being afraid….of sunlight, of being discovered and hunted and even killed.
Louis was especially cursed. He was tortured by his conscience. He was the only vampire who felt remorse and guilt for being a murderer. A lifelong prison sentence in his mind.
See Dark Shadows tv show. It inspired Anne Rice.

Yup. Probably one of the best vampire pictures ever mades. We see the story from the vampires side, not everything about an immortal night creature is funny :)
Emma, if you want a vampire film with a completely different vibe, definitely check out the comedy horror classic from the 80's... "Fright Night." The best part of the film is Roddy McDowall, as campy B-movie vampire "hunter" Peter Vincent, who is best known for the original "Planet of the Apes" series.
That's a great movie, but it's especially great if you grew up watching hosted late night horror movie shows and Hammer Studios' horror movies.

Da. Its also beautiful period piece as well . early 19th century america/ europe. Amazing. Its not a slasher so the hipsters are usually unimpressed. Also, Queen of the damned is good, it has a great soundtrack.
Good vampire movie, one of my favorites besides the Underworld series, which you should watch.
You need to do 80s Brat Pack movie - The Lost Boys which is actually the best vampire movie ever made. It's even better than Twilight.
River Phoenix was cast as the narrator, but following his tragic death Christian Slater stepped in very last minute (a matter of weeks) and donated his whole salery to the Phoenix family.
