    I trim the tails a bit on those. I also follow up with a whacky if I miss a Biggin. Sometimes that is all it takes to catch that giant. Great vid bro

    Great video! It's good to see the struggle every now and then. The bite has really turned off up here - right after the 4th of July, they stopped biting, but before I was pulling in 5-10 every day. My guess is they were spawning and then guarding nests (I'm on a clear lake with a sandy bottom with shell beds, with a little forest of sea weed stuff about 50 feet out from the bank) and now they've moved off to the deeper water. I went out last night after work and only got a few bites - a couple only got the tail of my worm, and the others came off after the hookset.

    My frog rod is a mh extra fast and has a lure weight up to 2ozs lol and its a lews rod. 40lb is plenty enough braid strength for frogs especially in more open water, over wood or sparce vegetation but i fish 40lb in heavy vegetation. Some pros do as well because it allows for ease of longer casts but is still strong enough to set the hooks and drag them out of the vegetation. 50lb is about as high if pondage i will do for frog fishing. 65lb is a little over kill imo lol.

    More with the rat and his bass catch'n buddies.
    It amazes me to watch deer to rodents take off across the lake like a summer's leisurely swim in the mid-winter early morning light and fog.

    I haven’t watched the whole video but the first pond a spro bbz-1 rat would be perfect and catch every fish with treble hooks. I’m not a hollow body fan unless snags or scum is an issue. Nice fish though

    • @ADUB1
      @ADUB1  6 місяців тому

      Agreed, the trebles are definitely nice

    What’s the best knot for glide baits that’s won’t break?

    • @ADUB1
      @ADUB1  6 місяців тому +1

      I tie an improved clinch knot for basically everything except a dropshot rig and for that I do the palomar. Both are great knots in my opinion, just make sure to wet your line when you’re synching it down so the line doesn’t burn from the friction!

    You’re too excited, let them eat the frog. Count 2 seconds then hit them.

  • @MAGAFISHING

    It's the rat, the rat sucks.It does not keep the fish pinned... I have that exact same rat and it will catch one fish for every ten that hit it

    • @ADUB1

      Yeahhh I missed quite a few 😂😭

    • @hanburgundy4317
      @hanburgundy4317 6 місяців тому

      You can take your pliers and bend the hooks out a little to raise your chances of getting a hookset - you might pick up more salad while you're at it, but worth it for a better hookup ratio.

    • @MAGAFISHING
      @MAGAFISHING 6 місяців тому

      I have done that.. and it just causes the rat to slip out from between the hooks ..I Saw someone said trim the tail but then I might as well just throw a frog...

    65lb is a bit thick for freshwater. 15lb I've found is perfect

    • @ADUB1
      @ADUB1  6 місяців тому

      I think it just kinda depends on where you’re fishing and what bait but yes 15 lb does work great for alot of techniques I agree! 🎣
