I've watched dozens of shop improvement and shop tour videos. Build Roubo benches, tool boxes, wall mounted plane, chisel, saw, hammer, screw driver, etc. rack and holder videos. Y'know what's a lot rarer? Videos where someone shows all the furniture they made.
Strangely satisfying seeing a fellow woodworker put more effort into making a beautiful place to store his sandpaper with such aesthetic beauty and quality that surpasses just about any furniture you could buy at any store. I think that is the epitome of conscientiousness
I really enjoyed seeing you take such pride in your work space! I feel like most woodworkers make something quickly that works for them and then use it for the next 30 years. So this was quite satisfying
I think you could make even just tool holders for a living for how cool they are!!! Man, they are mind blowing!!! The engraved brass is such a refined touch....... stunning!!!!
I really like that you updated your tool storage. I have been putting mine off to make it right the first time. So I have been working in chaos. So now I’m just throwing things together so that it works and then update later. Plus I know exactly what I want later by using existing storage. Thank you so much.
Hallo Michael, ein sehr cooles Projekt, die Werkzeugwand sieht jetzt echt super aus! Ich freu mich schon zu sehen wenn du die restliche Wand umbaust...
Great stuff Michael. I am on the “make it look nice for the shop” kick. Haven’t gotten too far, but with the amount of time spent in the shop, why not? Make it look great. Well done!
New year, new organized workspace-looks amazing! Love the etched brass labels and the walnut finishing. It brings order to a space with so many pieces and requirements. This will be a great backdrop for future vids, too. Looking forward to the next installment 👍
Once apon time a woodworkers tool chest was there cv to show how good they were. My dad had a over complicated saw horse he built on his apprenticeship but it was a excise to get him up to speed on a joint for where he was working. So building stuff like this give us time to polish our skill, in the video you used the ingraver which was cool. Also we spend a long time in our shops so let's make some where we want to spend time in. I really liked the sketching in space for the floating shelf at 18:08. Really look forward to seeing how you get on with the rest of the workshop.
Aside from all the usual "that is amazing" aspects of the video, the biggest takeaway for me (I'm not a carpenter) is that "veneered plywood" exists. I've used leftover plywood scrap for so many things and it never even occurred to me that you could buy plywood that actually looks pretty, what a lovely concept
Totally! I love veneered plywood. It's stable and way quicker to make furniture with then solid wood. The only thing to be careful of is sanding through the veneer.
Give that brass a thin coat of black paint or a marker, and sand it down.. It will leave the paint in the cut out numbers, leaving it much easier to read ;) Good work, looks great!
I sure understand why you come down to simply stare at that beautiful and functional assembly. We NEED to REGULARLY bask in the pleasure of our accomplishments! That "reserve of well-being" gets us though the days when everything goes wrong.
You don't need us to tell you how beautiful this looks! I always appreciate how beautiful your functional pieces look. It really inspires me to keep making all of the spaces in my life aesthetically pleasing and joy-bringing, whether they be my work-from-home office, or my wood shed!
You truly put out amazing content. I got into woodworking in 2012 and while I still like big projects, your artistic flair has really changed my outlook on how I want to enjoy this hobby. I know you have said before you don't know if you would want to show a lot of your paintings on this channel but I would love to see that side even if it was just one video or a small series of videos.
I really like the brass labeling. I also have a Shaper. I will definitely have to implement this in my shop. Thanks for continuing to bring forth great ideas.
Thank you Michael, for the inspiration and for the great effort. You did what we all wanted to do. I hope you enjoy working in your new order. Be safe and see you soon. 🐾⚒️⚙️🌟
Gorgeous, Michael! The combination of walnut and brass never disappoints. Who says shop furniture can't be beautiful? I love how everything looks. It's a great improvement. Can't wait to see the rest!
Wow, I love what you did with scraps you had on hand. I'm inspired to go and improve the appearance of my own shop! Thanks for sharing your creativity.
I would consider any of the things you built for your shop to be the woodworking achievement of my lifetime, since I've seldom built anything worth showing anyone. But I really appreciate seeing you plan projects and build even small things using your skills and tools. By the way, there might have been room for another clamp or ten on the sandpaper holder. :)
As ALWAYS Michael you make every project an exercise in ‘woodwork meditation’, watching you work calms my mind. IM so in LOVE with that Pillow router bit. Your so right it is mid century modern. If we could go back in time. This entire design period would be lost without your gorgeous patterned plywood ART. You have given me so much inspiration to set up my next workshop. Just 1 x question what type of blades do you use in yr band saw? To cut metal and hard wood?
A really nice finishing touch you could do, to tie your brass pieces into the red coloring you have in other places, is to fill in the engravings with red paint. Fingernail paint works best, and it even has it's own little brush. Simply clean the area to be painted with an alcohol pad, sparingly brush some paint over the engravings and allow it to dry per the instructions. Next, gently sand away the excess paint surrounding the engravings to reveal your painted engravings. A lot of people do this to their firearms, as well as hand tools, such as wrenches and sockets. I really like the look you created for your shop. The black paint really makes everything else stand out. I can't wait to see what you do to the rest of your shop!!!
Hahaha. That hole clamp bit on the drill press was hilarious. I’m a hobby woodworker so I know nothing but I tried the patterned plywood which got me super excited and do small projects. Honestly I love your vids just to watch so my brain registers things so I can apply them in the future. Wether it’s directly related to what you’re doing or not. Like…okay…jig so angled holes are possible. J know how to approach that now. Noted.
It’s so inspiring to see beauty and function at work in equal measure in creative spaces. I love how you turned that part of your shop into a cabinet of curiosities, with each item becoming a focal point of beauty. Also, it really lights my heart up when creative people enjoy their own creative expression. I love that you came down to your shop several times just to look at what you had created. Sometimes when I’ve created something (portable) that I’m really excited about, I’ll place it near my bed so that I can see it the minute I open my eyes - and then, like a kid the night before Christmas, because I’m too excited about it to drop off immediately to sleep, I’ll reach out to turn the bedside light back on, just to double check whether it’s still there, looking the way I remember it (from the last time I looked, 5 minutes ago!) I wish you so much enjoyment and happy productivity in your new space!
Clever use of the Shaper Origin. I have one and will try this out. Neat idea batching out a bunch of labels on the bar with a fixture and then cutting them out. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Yeah It worked great!! Make sure you lower your feeds and speeds when you do it. My settings: Plunge speed 6in/min cutting speed 3in/min. I used the auto cut for most of them and kept the depth of cut super shallow like .01. The engraving bit that comes with the tool works a treat.
The brass for the drill bits really stands out to me. Looks amazing and I didn’t know the shaper cnc could do such delicate work. I can see this being use in many applications even just making your own maker marks in brass and inlaying them in projects.
Great Job Mike! Makes you want to give a shop tour to all your guest 😉 I think I would have put a little paint (red/black) on the brass numbers before sanding and finishing to make them more outstanding.
Really like this build. The brass sets it off nice. This might sound strange, but I like your back round music also. I'm getting real tired of the loud head banging rock. Thanks, enjoyed watching and learning from this one.
I have always felt shop projects are a good thing and going that extra step to make it nice really pays off, makes your space feel better to work in and overall I feel more proud of my work and skill if knowing I can take the time care for mine stuff it shows to my clients when they visit for their commissions.
Awesome! Another idea would be to drill the holes for the drillbits different lengths as well, so they would poke out equally. That would need a larger piece of wood though.
I love watching you build what you need for your own storage. I love building my own pieces - of course out of chipboard and the like. Different levels of crafting :) Just finished building a holder for my Circut pens, 6 triangle pen holders, put together in a circle.
Wow! That looks amazing! My shop is just as messy, so I could use a similar transformation right about now. So many great ideas of ways to do things, even if I don't do them in walnut and brass.
Wonderful job. The only time I winced was when I saw that you store your planes upright. My Grandfather was a cabinet maker and taught my Dad that planes should always be stored on their sides, and my Dad passed this on to me. I think that it is supposed to help protect the cutting edge of the plane from damage. So now my planes are always laid on their sides. I maybe the only person in the world that still does this, but it seems like the right thing to do.
If my shed was tidy like yours I would panic every time I saw an empty space. With my method I know where everything is. ……………..it’s somewhere on the bench!!! A tidy workshop is a sign of a sick mind!!! Stavros
On those brass strips for your drill bits, I would have painted the strips black and then rubbed off the surface so that only the numbers remained black, for easier visibility.
This looks amazing, great work! I’m always thinking about as well as changing my shop layout and especially my tool wall to be more efficient and “prettier”. I wasn’t sure about black, but man those tools sure pop in front of the black wall. I see painting in my near future!
i am in constant awe of your skill and creations. i hope to one day get to your level!! thank you for all the videos, they are very useful, educational and inspiring!
Nice work and it looks very nice! I have a small shop so I think I would like my tools to be covered and in a closed cabinet or tool box, especially my books. I don't want to be dusting everything all of the time. Thanks for the ideas, though!
Nice upgrade! I wasn't sure about the black background at first, but it works - it warms up the colors of the surfaces adjacent to the wall. Might be fun to add some color calibrated strip lighting to the top... ;)
That is a fantastic upgrade!!!! I’m working on my wife’s music studio and my office now annndddd then I can think about organizing my garage / workspace. Haha. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
Wasn’t sure anyone else out there in the world shared my level of OCD when it came to tool organization lol. Right down to the three-quarter inch walnut stacked in such away so that the planes could sit flat. Nice work
7:45 Old photo pro tip: Puddle enamel paint (white, black, red, whatever color) into carved label characters prior to sanding smooth. Will leave behind super clear, readable numbers!! Can even be done by rubbing with china marker pencils. Also, consider polishing instead of sanding for smooth bright finish.
Shop infrastructure is EASILY my favorite type of video. It's so calming seeing things made functional and beautiful at the same time.
same here ^^
Same! I love watching these kinds of videos
That dramatic c-clamp moment at the drill press was funny. The tool wall looks great!
Strangely satisfying seeing a fellow woodworker put more effort into making a beautiful place to store his sandpaper with such aesthetic beauty and quality that surpasses just about any furniture you could buy at any store. I think that is the epitome of conscientiousness
It's the gift you give to yourself. It simply feels good to be in a space when the tools you love are displayed so beautifully. Well done.
So true! Thank you!
Love how the black background complements different wood varieties. Thank you for helping me choose the background colour for my woodworking garage.
From 16:16 to 16:40 has to be the best audio surprise I've ever experienced. You snuck it in there, and I'm so glad you did.
I really like that you updated your tool storage. I have been putting mine off to make it right the first time. So I have been working in chaos. So now I’m just throwing things together so that it works and then update later. Plus I know exactly what I want later by using existing storage. Thank you so much.
Hallo Michael,
ein sehr cooles Projekt, die Werkzeugwand sieht jetzt echt super aus! Ich freu mich schon zu sehen wenn du die restliche Wand umbaust...
This look amazing! Great work, Michael!
What an improvement! Really enjoyed that little bit of violin with the clamp handle moving!
How builders lay out and develop their workshops are so fun to watch and inspiring
Great stuff Michael. I am on the “make it look nice for the shop” kick. Haven’t gotten too far, but with the amount of time spent in the shop, why not? Make it look great. Well done!
This looks so good!! It's crazy how much it changed just after a fresh coat of paint. And I love all the brass and walnut 😍
Thanks dude!! 🙌
The clamp drifting into the drill made my heart beat. Oh man. Also the brass and patterned plywood for the win
New year, new organized workspace-looks amazing! Love the etched brass labels and the walnut finishing. It brings order to a space with so many pieces and requirements. This will be a great backdrop for future vids, too. Looking forward to the next installment 👍
One of the most satisfying things you can do to your shop. And soon as your done you start that process all over again! Nicely done glue boy!
Once apon time a woodworkers tool chest was there cv to show how good they were. Geometric patterns, walnut and brass, three of my favourite things! I'm so glad I found this channel!
Wow! That looks amazing. Well done.
I really like the brass labeling. I also have a Shaper. I will definitely have to implement this in my shop. Thanks for continuing to bring forth great ideas.
The strings building suspense during a drilling operation was great! Also, I love shop organization!
Hahah! Thanks 🎻
Your ideas are very refreshing, thank you for the inspiration on many different levels.
Oh man, the combination of dark wood and black background is absolute gorgeous, i'm planing on using that all around my house!
Thank you Michael, for the inspiration and for the great effort. You did what we all wanted to do. I hope you enjoy working in your new order. Be safe and see you soon. 🐾⚒️⚙️🌟

Hi, great project. I could watch this type of video all day it feeds my OCD. The brass labels were sublime 👍.

But I really appreciate seeing you plan projects and build even small things using your skills and tools. By the way, there might have been room for another clamp or ten on the sandpaper holder. :)
Don't know if it's just me but I put my drill bits in their holder tip down. Keeps the fingers from getting bit(cut) by the bits.
That’s a very good idea! 😂 kinda feel dumb I didn’t think of that
@@MichaelAlm love your builds, man... There the perfect blend of craftsmanship and artistry. I appreciate your videos. Much respect.
Ah, yes. The " Hide the evidence method"
Sadly, I still have to do my own resharpening.
I was thinking that too when he reached out and removed a bit.
Very well done. Extremely elegant and great production as always!

Great Job Mike! Makes you want to give a shop tour to all your guest 😉 I think I would have put a little paint (red/black) on the brass numbers before sanding and finishing to make them more outstanding.
Yup, old school engravers wax, a shelac stick, or nail polish all would set off the numbers amazingly against the brass.
Always enjoy the vibe of your projects.
Can't wait to see the other side. This looked AMAZING. Kudos from Brazil.
11:25 Pro tip: use razor knife instead of lead pencil for marking long end of mitres. Super duper precise (and no pencil mark!).
That sandpaper shelf is LOVELY!!! I am truly inspired!
Really like this build. The brass sets it off nice. This might sound strange, but I like your back round music also. I'm getting real tired of the loud head banging rock. Thanks, enjoyed watching and learning from this one.
The drill press part 16:16 was a great addition!
Looks very stylish. Such a nice job, looking forward to seeing the other side when you get the chance to do that.

Michael - Just absolutely beautiful. Such an inviting workspace. Thanks for sharing and bringing us along on the process!
Bellísimo!!, admiro tú excelente gusto en lo que haces!, felicitaciones
Awesome! Another idea would be to drill the holes for the drillbits different lengths as well, so they would poke out equally. That would need a larger piece of wood though.
It looks so easy when you make all those great things. I can hardly drill a hole without making a mess...
It looks so good! Looking forward to when you do the other side 😊
I love watching you build what you need for your own storage. I love building my own pieces - of course out of chipboard and the like. Different levels of crafting :) Just finished building a holder for my Circut pens, 6 triangle pen holders, put together in a circle.
hahahaha! The Jaws music!! Love it. And love that you get to show off your pattern plywood on the smaller drawers.
Now that is some next level shop greatness...turned out absolutely awesome. Love the brass labels! So cool
Those pieces looked pretty good and then you finished them and they absolutely popped. Thanks for another amazing video!
Wow! That looks amazing! My shop is just as messy, so I could use a similar transformation right about now. So many great ideas of ways to do things, even if I don't do them in walnut and brass.
Love a great 'shop furniture' project. Some slick ideas, some slick storage.
I'm actually obsessed with all your stunning upgrades to your shop space. Can't wait for the next installment!
I know what you mean about repeatedly just standing and admiring your work. It’s like a healthy reassurance of your life’s trajectory.
That's B E A Utiful! Love all the look and functionality you've done. It'll be a wonderful space for the Magic you create! Keep it up!
Congratulations Michael - beautiful work as per your norm. Precise, exact and enjoyable. Thank you. C in EU @ AU.
Found this in my recommendeds. Your production quality is amazing, and the level of detail you go into is perfect. Subscribed.
Quedo bellísimo, trasmite calidez, calma e inspiración, así le dan ganas de trabajara a cualquier persona, saludos desde Venezuela!
Looks great! I love the brass work, it really goes well with walnut.
Wonderful job. The only time I winced was when I saw that you store your planes upright. The dramatic music with the c-clamp in the drill press was priceless!
Attractive, well organized...and nice use of leftovers!
That must have felt sooooo good afterward. You did an amazing job, as always, and it looks fabulous. MUCH more your style.
Looks bloody amazing, you’ve given me inspiration to go tackle some my less than tidy workshop wall spaces.
If you have the complete footage for the engraving it would be great to see more. The new wall looks great!
shop organization videos are the best videos.
i am in constant awe of your skill and creations. i hope to one day get to your level!! thank you for all the videos, they are very useful, educational and inspiring!
Nice work and it looks very nice!
I have a small shop so I think I would like my tools to be covered and in a closed cabinet or tool box, especially my books. I don't want to be dusting everything all of the time.
Thanks for the ideas, though!

This looks SOOO GOOD!! I’m excited to see how you continue with your shop! 😃
Beautiful, Michael! And inspiring. Job well done.
Thanks Jay 🙌
amazing work man! Good for you! My brain exploded with ideas for my shop now! Thank you! Can't wait to see more videos!
Nicely done Michael. Thanks for sharing.
A place for everything and everything in its place. You did a great job and provided some neat storage ideas as well. Thanks!
Looking great! Keep up the good work.
A lot of great craftsmanship in this video! Walnut and brass is always a great combination!
Inspirational Michael. It looks fantastic and must be amazing to use with all the functionality.
Wasn’t sure anyone else out there in the world shared my level of OCD when it came to tool organization lol. Right down to the three-quarter inch walnut stacked in such away so that the planes could sit flat. Nice work
Great job Michael! Thanks for sharing the video with us!💖👍😎JP

The song at the drill press killed me! Love it so much! Love this build so much!
Nice work! I’m lucky I can put things in old plastic containers. I need to step it up!
