I am replacing the lambda sond on my Alfa Romeo 1.8 twinspark 1998, which was acutally fairly easy! This is a translation of my Swedish video. Dunno why I keep saying lambda sond instead of lambda sensor...
Please note that I am not a mechanic so this might not be the correct way of doing it. If you are about to do it yourself, make sure to use a workshop manual.
It might also be a good idea to grease the sensor winding with electricity leading cream and anti rust. (Thanks fo rcomment MrGaableenz)
This looks so relaxed and fun, almost makes me wish I had an Alfa Romeo with a broken lambda sensor lol
no you don't lol
On the first generation of the ts engine (CF2) there is only one catalyst and one lambda sensor.
I'm swedish.
Hej! I have an 147 1.6ts, guess will be more or less the same, but wanted to ask you a couple of things... is the lambda exactly placed as in the 156 1.8ts? And how can i know which is exactly the wire i need to unplug at the engine? (In case the disposition aint the same as in the 156) tack so mycket!
Hello Dear,
I was so happy to watch this video.
Could you tell me please the reason for changing the lambda sensor heater ??
Actually, I'm facing a problem with the accelerator and there is a small icon or symbol that lights on when I face the problem and while the engine is still running, but the accelerator doesn't react and the gear is helpless. To solve the error I have to switch off the engine and start it again, this light goes off after 2 minutes and the car back to normal unless I drive very slowly, and the error comes again.
I appreciate your kind help and instructions.
Bassam
Always a good idea to use a string for easy and properly mounted fixing points, great work 👍
Thanks! 🙏
Hi, the ecu scanner software displays errors P1177 and P1178, do you know what could be the cause?
hello, i’m having a problem with my 156 2.0TS.. i have the injectors light on “engine light on” and sometimes my car is not running smoothly.. and make some black smoke sometimes.. is it the lambda sensor you think?
Hello Fábio. I don't know really, but I assume the lamda could be making the engine run rich. Might also be airflowmeter as I understand. I read somewhere about people cleaning the airflowmeter with good results, but cannot remember where. You might want to check that before buying a new lambda. Good luck!
Ha ha yes even an 156 with a broken lamdasonde just 1000euros lol. Question for StreetmecCom : Aren't there a bunch of them on the 1.8 ts? I seem to have a couple of the on the front pipe as well... Nice video by the way.
Lol yea I believe that is true, I would get one of these if they were not so prone to faults since I don't have a garage and the weather in my country sucks most of the time xD
hi! great video, you seems knowledgeable about Alfa's so I wanted to ask you how i can rid off the air bag signal on the dashboard that after turning on the ignition keeps on. this should come up and dissapear after 3 seconds right? Many thanks!
Thanks! I'm no expert, but always check for other peoples experiences before doing stuff.
Regarding the airbag lamp, one common problem is the yellow contact under the passenger seat. Many times it can help to disconnect that contact, put it back on and repeat several times to grind the contact surfaces. Or if you have proper tools and knowledge you can probably take it apart and clean the surfaces.
I'm told it is a good idea to disconnect the battery first for ten minutes or more before touching anything with the airbags.
Well, they're easier to find than you might think ;)
Hi, which cable did you use to connect to the ECU and clear errors? ELM or KKL?
Thank you in advance
Sorry for the late reply, I am lousy at responding to messages on UA-cam.
I used the KKL cable.
They need a Bosch one, other makes (NGK) won't work on the 156.
Yes. From what I've heared from fellow Alfa owners, the part number is also important so make sure you get the correct one.
Thx! Will try!
The 1.8 TS has only one lambda, right?
It depends on the model year of the engine. Alfa Workshop has a guide to find out: www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/alfa_romeo_cf.shtml
@@StreetMec I have Alfa GTV 1.8 TS (MY2000) with CF2 engine, so it should be only one lambda i guess
@@snakeeater9078 As far as I know, yes. Additionally, if I remember correctly, you can see one of the other lambdas on the exhaust manifold if there are more than one.
@@StreetMec you are right! You can see them in the pictures on that link you‘ve sent me :) thank you!
No need to disconnect both terminals of the battery
+Steve SOMERS Thanks, yeah that's what brain keeps telling me, but I always feel better doing both. And I'm a physicist :D
Come mai lo hai sostituito? Grazie
I had problems with exhaust gases, too much carbon monoxide, so I replaced lambda sensor and air mass meter.
HEY!!!! Dont forget grease the new lambda with ELECTRICITY leading cream!!!!!!!!! Its winding must be greased with it.
Really? Is the ground through the exhaust pipe??
StreetmecCom All technicians say it to me, when i asked. Somebody says to grease it with special paste with glass microballs to winding. Also two kinds of paste. Leading and microballs to prevent rust in. A changed also two weeks ago a new lambda on my 1.8 TS
MrGaableenz Fair enough, added to description. Thanks!
Hello. Is the Air Fuel Ratio Sensor and Lambda Sensor the same thing?
