Just got this set as a (very late) birthday gift. Looking forward to running it. Thanks!

Hi Jeremy, regarding coupling (11:09), did you consider using magnetic couplings to replace the standard coupling rod (is the right term for it? Hope you understand what I mean). With magnetic couplers, it's so much easier to handle such long trains as the ETR or the ICE. Regards, Joerg

Hi, I had not considered magnetic couplings. However, the couplings seem to be ok recently so hopefully I'll have no further issues with them. Best regards, Jeremy.

@@jezbo7827 Alright, I ask because I use magnetic couplers on my Fleischmann ICE T and made a short video to demonstrate that. Cheers, Joerg

Hi Phil, thanks for watching. I’m really looking forward to the add on set arriving to complete the rake. Cheers, Jeremy.

Hi Jeremy, a classic and I think I will have to get one. Don't be too sure about Arnold spares - I have a three car set of Arnold N-wagen and unfortunately lost the retaining screw for one of the bogies whilst fitting lights. An e-mail to Hornby revealed that you CANNOT get spares (nor can they tell me the size of screws that they use).

    • @jezbo7827
      @jezbo7827  2 роки тому

Hi Keith, will look smart running around your amazing layout. Look forward to seeing it! Thankfully you can buy some of the spares directly off the website for this one. Could you use another manufacturers screw of a similar size and see if it fits your Arnold rolling stock? Best regards, Jeremy

@@jezbo7827 Hi Jeremy, have already considered that but no success after a year! Will have to look at alternatives. Am finding it very frustrating coupled with the fact that I notice from your review that Hornby make no allowance in their tooling for the retrofitting of internal illumination (unlike Jaegendorfer, Hobbytrain, Kato et al). If they want to play against the big boys they need to step up to the mark. I too have an ICE3 from Arnold and am very disappointed firstly with the livery (clearly grey not white) and secondly with the coupling system ( same as with the ETR610 and, strangely, as with the Minitrix ICE3).

a very nice set very well datailed i do like the modern locos at the moment i have db around the late 70s early 80s and my locos are the older roco minitrix and fleischmann diesals and an assortment of makers coaches but still run fine after all these years they were definatly built to last your layout is lookin good and the scratch built building and your modern locos the only thing im not keen on is those couplings on that set but once coupled it will be fine

Hi Keith, thanks for tuning in. A friend of mine who also has this set also mentioned the couplings were a little unreliable and if not completely clicked in, will come apart. It seems it’s a running thing with these. So far I’ve not had any problems once it’s coupled nice and tight. I do like some of the older locos too and I’ve got a nice Fleischmann green Ae6/6 which I need to run again soon. Also have the Eurocity grey mouse set too which is rather nice. Thanks for looking in and please do subscribe. Best regards, Jeremy.

Greetings Devon and hello Jeremy 👋 Very entertaining show case video. I have to agree you chose a great looking livery 😍 The coupling systems for these Continental multiple units are quirky 😲 I picked up the Arnold ICE 3 and it uses steel pins and has eight carriages 🤔 not looking forward to getting that connected and on the track 😳🤬🤬🤬 Looking forward to finding out more about SBB in future updates 🤞 Very best wishes from Ireland ☘️

Evening Paul! The ICE units are very smart, I have two ICE 1 power cars but no coaches yet. I think Kato have got it spot on when it comes to couplings between their TGV carriages. Not sure about these new style of couplings and don't envy you trying to couple up your ICE unit. There are more reviews on the way so stay tuned for those! Have a great evening from the clear skies of Devon! Best regards, Jeremy.

Good review that Jeremy, it’s a lovely unit with a great livery, although I do tend to really like the plainer livery that they haven’t produced for some reason, i think it makes the train look very sleek! Look forward to more and a good helper there, my son is a bit older and not very interested, lol! Cheers mate, John

Hi John, it's a great train and cannot wait for the 3 car add on set to land on my doorstep. I too prefer the plain version, but doubt they will ever release it. Both my kids like to play trains and regularly drive various trains around the layout. It's a great hobby so I'm trying to get them into it early! Cheers, Jeremy.

That’s excellent with the kids Jeremy, my son is almost 30 now so I don’t think I can persuade him anymore. My daughter shows a little interest, she likes the model making but I think she’s to busy with her boyfriend! Cheers mate, John

    Hello,
your review was OK but please get better lighting. While you were showing the coupling it was just on black area and I was having trouble picking up what you were talking about.
I'm a Swiss modeller but in HO.

Hi, thank you for your comment and suggestions. I was using my phone for this video but have a better camera now for my future videos of the layout and reviews.
